The study of the relationship between cultivated plants and environmental factors can provide information ranging from a deeper understanding of the plant biological system to the development of more effective management strategies for improving yield, quality, and sustainability of the produce. In this article, we present a comprehensive metabolomics dataset of two phytochemically divergent lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) butterhead varieties under different growing conditions. Plants were cultivated in hydroponics in a growth chamber with ambient control. The pre-harvest factors that were independently investigated were light intensity (two levels), the ionic strength of the nutrient solutions (three levels), and the molar ratio of three macroelements (K, Mg, and Ca) in the nutrient solution (three levels). We used an untargeted, mass-spectrometry-based approach to characterize the metabolomics profiles of leaves harvested 19 days after transplant. The data revealed the ample impact on both primary and secondary metabolism and its range of variation. Moreover, our dataset is useful for uncovering the complex effects of the genotype, the environmental factor(s), and their interaction, which may deserve further investigation.

320 bacterial strains isolated from the surface of cultivated plants, as well as from other parts of hydroponic cultures showed stimulating (49 bacterial strains) or inhibitory (9 bacterial strains) properties in respect to the investigated plant. The following bacteria were isolated: <i>Pseudomonas, Flavobacterium, Agrobacterium, Achromobacter</i> and <i>Chromobacterium</i>. The effects of active bacterial strains on the growth of seedlings were investigated in dependence on the kind of inorganic form of nitrogen present in the nutrient solutions. The same bacterial strains exerted a stimulating effect on seedlings growing on nitrates, weaker stimulation was observed in cultures with ammonium nitrate; the growth of lettuce seedlings on nutrient solution with ammonium only, was, as a rule, inhibited by the bacteria.

Allelopathy is analyzed as an alternative to herbicides due to the inhibitory or beneficent activities of its compounds with other organisms. Current paper discusses the effects of Aeschynomene fluminensis Vell. fractions on cultivated plant species, Lactuca sativa L. and Glycine max (L.) Merril, and on weeds, Ipomoea grandifolia (Dammer) O’Donnel and Digitaria insularis (L.) Fedde. Aqueous fractions at 0.80; 0.40; 0.20 and 0.10 mg mL-1 concentrations were employed for initial growth tests. Seeds were pre-germinated in distilled water and transferred to petri plates with separate fractions at different concentrations. Plates were maintained for 48 h in a germination chamber at 25°C for L. sativa and I. grandifolia and at 30°C for G.max and D. insularis. The length of hypocotyl (LH) and root (LR) was measured and LR and foliar length (LF) were taken for D. insularis seedlings. Parameters were employed to calculated inhibition percentage. Plants with morphological changes were fixed and analyzed anatomically. Results revealed LH and LR inhibition of lettuce seedlings in fractions with highest concentration rates. The same has been reported in the case of I. grandifolia. Butanolic, methanolic and chloroform fractions did not affect negatively soybean seedlings but they inhibited D. insularis seedlings´ LR. A. fluminensis fractions, especially at higher concentrations, inhibited seedlings´ growth and confirmed their phytotoxic capacity.

Objectif : L’essai a visé à développer de nouvelles initiatives de gestion de la fertilité des sols compatibles avec la gestion rationnelle des ressources mises en jeux afin d’évaluer et d’apprécier l’efficacité des différentes combinaisons d’engrais sur le rendement de la laitue et d’identifier le meilleur model d’amélioration des conditions de culture de cette plante. Méthodologie et résultats : Au cours de l’essai, le dispositif expérimental adopté a été celui en blocs aléatoire complet à quatre traitements et à trois répétitions. Les traitements utilisés ont été : T0 (témoin absolu sans apport de fertilisants), T1 (16 t.ha-1 de fumier de bovin +150 Kg.ha-1 de NPK :15-15-15 +50 Kg.ha-1 d’Urée), T2 (16 t.ha-1 de fiente de volailles + 150 Kg.ha-1 de NPK :15-15-15 +50 Kg.ha-1 d’Urée) et T3 (16 t.ha-1 d’un mélange équitable de fientes de volailles et de fumier de bovin +150 Kg.ha-1 de NPK :15- 15-15 +50 Kg.ha-1 d’Urée). Les résultats obtenus ont montré que le traitement T2 a amélioré le rendement de la laitue qui a dépassé le témoin de 134%. Conclusion et application de résultats : L’étude a consisté à faire une évaluation de l’impact de différentes combinaisons d’engrais organiques et minéraux sur la productivité de la laitue. Les résultats obtenus ont monté que le traitement T2 suivi du traitement T3 puis du traitement T1 ayant donné respectivement un surplus de produit de 134,00%, 75,69% et de 62,16% par rapport au traitement témoin T0. La laitue étant une plante à cycle court, l’utilisation du fumier, à base de fientes de volailles, riche en azote dont la libération est rapide, serait mieux indiquée pour sa culture en plein champ et surtout en maraîchage. Methodology and results: During the test, the experimental device adopted was that in complete random blocks with four treatments and three repetitions. The treatments used were: T0 (absolute control without addition of fertilizers), T1 (16 t.ha-1 of bovine manure +150 Kg.ha-1 of NPK: 15-15-15 +50 Kg.ha-1 of Urea), T2 (16 t.ha-1 of poultry droppings + 150 Kg.ha-1 of NPK: 15-15-15 +50 Kg.ha-1 of Urea) and T3 (16 t.ha -1 of a fair mix of poultry droppings and bovine manure +150 Kg.ha-1 of NPK: 15-15-15 +50 Kg.ha-1 of Urea). The results obtained showed that the T2 treatment improved the yield of the lettuce, which exceeded the control by 134%. Conclusion and application of results: The study consisted of assessing the impact of different combinations of organic and mineral fertilizers on the productivity of lettuce. The results obtained showed that the T2 treatment followed by the T3 treatment then by the T1 treatment having given respectively a surplus of product of 134.00%, 75.69% and 62.16% compared to the control treatment T0. Since lettuce is a short-cycle plant, the use of manure, based on poultry droppings, rich in nitrogen and quick to release, would be better suited for its cultivation in the open field and especially in market gardening. Sistem hidroponik memungkinkan sayuran ditanam di daerah yang kurang subur dan daerah sempit yang padat penduduknya. Alasan penerapan teknik hidroponik yang utama adalah karena terbatasnya lahan pertanian yang produktif untuk memenuhi kebutuhan manusia yang semakin banyak tiap tahunnya, sehingga dibutuhkan suatu terobosan baru untuk memecahkan masalah tersebut. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2015 sampai bulan Januari 2016 yang bertempat di kampus Fakultas Pertanian Jl. Propinsi Kecamatan Tembilahan Hulu Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir Propinsi Riau.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) pola faktorial yang terdiri dari 2 faktor. Faktor pertama adalah jenis POC (N) yang terdiri dari 3 taraf perlakuan yaitu POC Jus Bumi, POC Bonggol Pisang danPOC Limbah Sayuran. Faktor kedua adalah konsentrasi larutan (K) yang terdiri dari 3 taraf perlakuan yaitu 150 ppm, 200 ppm dan 250 ppm. Parameter pengamatan adalah Tinggi Tanaman , Jumlah Daun , Luas Daun , Diameter Batang, Panjang akar ,Volume Akar, Kadar Air, dan Bobot Hasil.Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan jenis POC jus bumi dengan konsentrasi larutan 150 ppm memberikan pertumbuhan dan produksi terbaik untuk tanaman selada secara hidroponik sistem wick. Perlakuan jenis POC limbah sayuran dengan konsentrasi 250 ppm memberikan pertumbuhan dan produksi terbaik selain POC jus bumi sehingga dapat dijadikan sumber POC alternatif.

Xà lách (Lactuca sativa L.) là một loại rau ăn lá quan trọng có giá trị dinh dưỡng và kinh tế cao. Cây Xà lách có đặc điểm là loại rau ngắn ngày, có thời gian sinh trưởng ngắn khoảng từ 45 - 55 ngày, có thể phát triển tốt trên nhiều loại đất, là loại rau ăn sống được sử dụng rất phổ biến trong bữa ăn hàng ngày của người dân Việt Nam nên nó được trồng quanh năm, do vậy vấn đề về chất lượng lại càng phải được quan tâm nhiều hơn. Bài báo này giới thiệu kết quả phân tích về dư lượng nitrat và các kim loại nặng (Cu, Pb, Zn) trong rau Xà lách vụ Xuân - Hè 2012 - 2013 ở phường Hương Long - thành phố Huế. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy: đất trồng rau Xà lách tại phường Hương Long – thành phố Huế đạt tiêu chuẩn về hàm lượng kim loại nặng (Pb, Zn) theo QCVN 03:2008/BTNMT, nhưng hàm lượng Cu và nitrat là khá cao. Rau Xà lách thành phẩm có dư lượng nitrat cao hơn 1,21% so với quy định và các kim loại nặng (Pb, Zn, Cu) tồn dư trong rau lại ở mức cao và vượt tiêu chuẩn cho phép nhiều lần sẽ ảnh hưởng đến sức khỏe của người sử dụng.

Las plantas han desarrollado un conjunto de mecanismos morfológicos, bioquímicos y fisiológicos de respuesta a los cambios ambientales de O3. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar el efecto de dosis subletales de O3, aplicadas al medio de cultivo, en el crecimiento de plantas de lechuga (Lactuca sativa L.). Con base en el fenómeno denominado hormesis, la hipótesis fue que existe una dosis umbral de O3 que modifica positivamente el metabolismo de las plantas e incrementan su crecimiento y productividad. En un sistema hidropónico de plantas en flotación se evaluaron nueve dosis entre 0.53 y 59.40 mg L-1, aplicadas semanalmente, y se compararon con un testigo sin O3. Las variables del crecimiento que se cuantificaron fueron: diámetro del tallo, altura del tallo, altura de hoja, número total de hojas, longitud de raíz, peso fresco de raíz, biomasa seca de raíz, peso fresco y biomasa del vástago. Las plantas completaron su ciclo de crecimiento sin algún daño en el crecimiento con concentraciones entre 0.53 y 5.94 mg de O3 L-1, pero 20, 40 y 60 mg L-1 fueron letales en plantas de cinco semanas de edad. Estas dosis causaron oscurecimiento y necrosis acelerados de los tejidos foliares y muerte, los cambios de color de las hojas fueron evidentes desde los 20 min posteriores a la única aplicación de O3. Además, las dosis de 2.66 y 3.96 mg L-1 incrementaron significativamente (P ≤ 0.05) el diámetro del tallo, la biomasa fresca en la raíz y el vástago y la biomasa seca en la raíz y el vástago, en promedio 16, 23, 15, 89 y 11 % con respecto al testigo, después de 10 semanas de crecimiento.
