Two problems can cause control performance degradation on permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) systems, namely, fluctuation of PMSM parameters and the time delay between current sampling and command value update. In order to reduce the influence of these problems, a new current-predictive control strategy is proposed in this article for medium- and high-speed PMSM. This strategy is based on the discrete mathematical model of PMSM. This new control strategy consists of two main steps: First, an integrator is applied to calculate current compensation value; second, the predictive current value is obtained through deadbeat-current predictive method. The stability of predictive control system is also proved in the article. With this deadbeat-current predictive control scheme, the real current can reach the desired value within one control-step. Based on this new current control method, Luenberger observer and phase-locked loop position tracker is applied in this article. Experimental results for 0.4 kW surface-mounted PMSM confirm the validity and excellent performance for parameters fluctuation of new current predictive control.

The high-speed railway based on electromechanical integration develops rapidly in China in recent years. In order to improve research for electrified railway, a model of AC-DC-AC electric locomotive is established using electro- magnetic transient software PSCAD/EMTDC. In this paper, a single-phase tri-level rectifier of unit power factor and its control strategy of direct transient current control method are introduced at first. And then the working principles of the voltage space vector control strategy of inverter and the vector control strategy of cage motors are analyzed. The inverter and the motors must be as a whole because of the realization of motor vector control based on SVPWM inverter. At last, a model is established and the correctness and effectiveness of the model can be verified by the corresponding theory results. The simulation model is useful for the analysis of low frequency resonance in locomotives. The results will be applied in the research of mechanics and electric coupling in high speed electrified railway.

Interior permanent magnet synchronous motors can be applied to applications requiring wide-speed operation by means of flux-weakening control. While due to the fixed capacity of PWM inverter, the high speed operation range of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) is mainly limited by the saturation of current regulator. In constant power region, in stead of the available voltage that controls the armature current vector, the current vector sometimes becomes uncontrollable in transient operations because of the current regulator saturation. In order to extend its operation range, the current vector control algorithm of IPM motor over the base speed operation is proposed in this paper which includes the decoupling current control and the voltage command compensation. Also this paper introduces a judgment method to monitor if the current regulator has gone into saturation or not. Finally on the basis of simulation results, the effectiveness of this control strategy is further confirmed by real drive tests.

This paper proposed an improved control method for grid-connected voltage source converter (VSC), when the grid voltage consisted of the integer harmonics and inter-harmonics. Control object of the proposed control can be alternated to achieve the sinusoidal current or smooth output power, which enhances the operation adaption of VSC under the harmonically distorted grid. On the basis of a PI regulator in the fundamental current control loop, the novel control strategy was proposed with a supplementary controller which consisted of a prepositive high-pass filter and a modified proportional-derivative controller. In the proposed control, the inter-harmonics could be suppressed without detecting frequency, while the traditional resonator was effective in the premise of knowing the harmonics frequency. Also, the influence of control gain on the steady performance and the stability of VSC was analyzed, and the influences on the fundamental control caused by the proposed controller were also analyzed to verify the practicability of the proposed control strategy. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed strategy was verified by the experiments.

Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) has the characteristics of high voltage level and low switching frequency. The traditional modular multilevel converter circulating current control strategy mostly adopts the PI control principle, and the parameter setting is complicated and the accuracy is not high, and the control process is more difficult. Model predictive control strategy is the optimal control method based on the model in the existing time domain. This paper proposes a Model Predictive Control (MPC) method based on carrier phase-shifted pulse width modulation (PSC-PWM) to suppress the circulating current, and output the optimal modulation wave through model prediction. Compared with the traditional control strategy, this strategy is simple to implement, does not require complex tuning calculations, and combines with the traditional capacitor voltage equalization strategy to obtain the output modulation wave. A 7-level MMC simulation control system is built in MATLAB / SIMLINK to verify the theory, comparing with existing control methods, it can be concluded that the proposed method has high calculation efficiency, good control accuracy and strong robustness.

This article presents a control strategy that enables both islanded and grid-tied operations of a three-phase inverter in distributed generation. This distributed generation (DG) is based on a dramatically evolved direct current (DC) source. A unified control strategy is introduced to operate the interface in either the isolated or grid-connected modes. The proposed control system is based on the instantaneous tracking of the active power flow in order to achieve current control in the grid-connected mode and retain the stability of the frequency using phase-locked loop (PLL) circuits at the point of common coupling (PCC), in addition to managing the reactive power supplied to the grid. On the other side, the proposed control system is also based on the instantaneous tracking of the voltage to achieve the voltage control in the standalone mode and retain the stability of the frequency by using another circuit including a special equation (wt = 2πft, f = 50 Hz). This utilization provides the ability to obtain voltage stability across the critical load. One benefit of the proposed control strategy is that the design of the controller remains unconverted for other operating conditions. The simulation results are added to evaluate the performance of the proposed control technology using a different method; the first method used basic proportional integration (PI) controllers, and the second method used adaptive proportional integration (PI) controllers, i.e., an Artificial Neural Network (ANN).

AbstractIn the last years, Control Moment Gyros (CMGs) are widely used for high-speed attitude control, since they are able to generate larger torque compared to “classical” actuation systems, such as Reaction Wheels . This paper describes the attitude control problem of a spacecraft, using a Model Predictive Control method. The features of the considered linear MPC are: (i) a virtual reference, to guarantee input constraints satisfaction, and (ii) an integrator state as a servo compensator, to reduce the steady-state error. Moreover, the real-time implementability is investigated using an experimental testbed with four CMGs in pyramidal configuration, where the capability of attitude control and the optimization solver for embedded systems are focused on. The effectiveness and the performance of the control system are shown in both simulations and experiments.

In this paper, the speed tracking problem of the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) of an electric vehicle is studied. A cascade speed control strategy based on active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) and a current control strategy based on improved duty cycle finite control set model predictive control (FCSMPC) are proposed, both of which can reduce torque ripple and current ripple as well as the computational burden. First of all, in the linearization process, some nonlinear terms are added into the control signal for voltage compensation, which can reduce the order of the prediction model. Then, the dq-axis currents are selected by maximum torque per ampere (MTPA). Six virtual vectors are employed to FCSMPC, and a novel way to calculate the duty cycle is adopted. Finally, the simulation results show the validity and superiority of the proposed method.
