The technologies of cutting the cores of electric machines change the magnetic properties and the loss of the electrical sheets used, affecting the machine’s parameters, mainly power losses and efficiency. This is particularly important in the case of induction motors, which are a significant consumer of electricity. Therefore, the problem of increasing their efficiency is important from the point of view of environmental impact. The article presents a method of approximating a material’s magnetic properties based on the results of measurements carried out with specimens of various widths. The presented method allows for an approximate representation of the changes in the structure of the material caused by the cutting technology. It is used in the analytical method for calculating motor parameters, and gives results that are in good agreement with the measurement. This method can determine the operating parameters of electrical machines of various sizes and rated powers.

AbstractThis work is a review of current trends in the stray flux signal processing techniques applied to the diagnosis of electrical machines. Initially, a review of the most commonly used standard methods is performed in the diagnosis of failures in induction machines and using stray flux; and then specifically it is treated and performed the algorithms based on statistical analysis using cumulants and polyspectra. In addition, the theoretical foundations of the analyzed algorithms and examples applications are shown from the practical point of view where the benefits that processing can have using HOSA and its relationship with stray flux signal analysis, are illustrated.

In the present work the action of earthquakes upon offshore jacket structures is analysed by means of ADINA software. Our case-study refers to an existing model structure, previously constructed at the Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics of UBI, which has been analysed from the hydrodynamic point of view — Mendes et al. [1, 2]. The seismic excitation will be imposed at the base of this model structure, with frequencies and amplitudes corresponding to actual earthquake conditions transposed to the model scale of 1:45. The FEM software is utilised to calculate the natural frequencies of the model and to obtain stresses at selected members, as well as their nodal displacements. Our purpose is to quantify maximum stresses occurring in critical structural members and to verify the survivability criterion. The predictions of the numerical model, in terms of the reaction forces at the base and acceleration at the top of the structure, are then correlated with the experimental measurements performed when the model structure is excited in an especially designed shaking table (Correia [3]), revealing a good agreement between both results.

In a former paper (Proc. R.S.E., 1905) an investigation was given of the magnetic properties of the closest packed homogeneous cubic arrangement of molecular magnets, and it was found that the results were in good agreement with the observed properties of crystals of magnetite. It was also suggested that a parallel investigation of other cubic arrangements might lead to a discrimination of molecular arrangement, so far as the magnetic constituents are concerned, in actual crystals. To settle this point, if possible, the present investigation was undertaken.

ABSTRACTA calibration procedure for determining the model input parameters of standard a-Si:H layers, which comprise a single junction a-Si:H solar cell, is presented. The calibration procedure consists of: i) deposition of the separate layers, ii) measurement of the material properties, iii) fitting the model parameters to match the measured properties, iv) simulation of test devices and comparison with experimental results. The inverse modeling procedure was used to extract values of the most influential model parameters by fitting the simulated material properties to the measured ones. In case of doped layers the extracted values of the characteristic energies of exponentially decaying tail states are much higher than the values reported in literature. Using the extracted values of model parameters a good agreement between the measured and calculated characteristics of a reference solar cell was reached. The presented procedure could not solve directly an important issue concerning a value of the mobility gap in a-Si:H alloys.

In the paper the physical properties and thermodynamic functions of borides Х2В (Х=W, Mo, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni та Cr) are studied with accounting for fluctuation processes. We use the microstructure analysis, the X-ray structural and the durometric analyses to determine the physical properties of alloys. In the paper it is determined the phase composition and physical properties of borides. In this paper for the first time it is determined the thermodynamic functions of borides using the Hillert and Staffansson model with accounting for the first degree approximation of high-temperature expansion for the free energy potential of binary alloys. We obtain the temperature dependences for such thermodynamic functions as Gibbs free energy, entropy, enthalpy and heat capacity Ср along with their values at the formation temperature for Х2В (Х=W, Mo, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni та Cr). The approach under consideration enables to give more thorough from the thermodynamic point of view description of borides formed from the liquid. The outcomes of the thermodynamic function calculation for borides are in good agreement with experimental data and results of other authors.

The purpose of this research is to establish the technology of 3D printable production on the principle of FDM of gears made of PLA, ABS and PETG mainly. In the paper we present first the dimensional generation and specific aspects that need to be considered to produce gears with internal or external teeth of the cylindrical type with vertical or inclined teeth. Generating the gears appeared as a necessity for the reconditioning of the components of the processing machines and of the electric machines made both in the process of elaboration of the bachelors and the laboratory works, with reduced energy resource consumption and low pollution as low as possible. After the construction, we past to identify the dimension that have implications for both mechanical and kinematic resistance to achieve a product with good cinematic and functional characteristics. After that are made an analysis of the layers generated, both from the computer simulation and from the point of view of the analysis of layers physically generated on a gear tooth with external teeth.

In this study, we present some results on the structure and properties of the solid solution of Bi0.5K0.5TiO3– BiFeCoO3 (BKT – BFCO) by Sol-gel method. Crystal structures of BKT – BFCO solid solutions were studies by XRD and Raman spectroscopy. The results were in good agreement with the previous reports of Bi0.5K0.5TiO3– BiFeO3 (BKT – BFO) and Bi0.5K0.5TiO3 – BiCoO3 (BKT – BCO) solid solutions. The magnetic properties were investigated via unsaturated M-H loop, which showed the competition of paramagnetic and antiferromagnetic ordering in BKT – BFCO. However, differing from the BKT – BFO and BKT – BCO solid solutions, the unclear values of saturated magnetism in BKT – BFCO raised the unexplained question, which needed further studies.
