UN Sustainable Development Goal 2 Target 2.5 focuses on the conservation of genetic diversity in soundly managed genebanks. In examining the term “soundly managed”, it becomes quickly evident that there is much more to long-term conservation than placing samples of seeds or other germplasm in long-term conservation conditions. There are several important factors that determine whether germplasm samples will remain viable in storage for long periods of time. To manage these factors efficiently and effectively, genebanks require sound data and quality management systems. The CGIAR Genebank Platform, coordinated by the Crop Trust, put in place a number of mechanisms that enabled effective online reporting, performance management, quality management, audit and external review and validation. These mechanisms do not conform to the usual monitoring systems put in place for research programs and have only been possible thanks to the flexibility of CGIAR in recognising that the genebanks were exceptional. As a result, in the past 10 years, CGIAR genebanks have significantly improved their performance and the conservation status of collections.

In the article the problem of education quality management was considered in the context of general scientific methodology. The modern tendencies of implementation of higher education quality and quality management in particular, were highlighted. It is shown that the practice of implementation of quality management systems, such as the Total Quality Management, positively affects the organizational, market and financial strategies for the formation of long-term competitive advantages in higher education sphere. The modern interpretation of the essence and basic principles of education quality management was revealed. The methodological substantiation of the phenomenon of education quality management in the context of general scientific approaches was carried out: systemic, synergistic and acmeological. Such an approach makes it possible to substantiate the quality management as a complex, open system characterized by nonlinearity of transformations, allows to predict its development, proceeding from the development of each individual to the whole system as a whole. It is proved that methodological substantiation of quality management on the basis of general scientific approaches can become the foundation on the basis of which the national system of education quality assurance will develop its own model, inherent only to it, taking into account the system of public administration in the field of Ukraine’s higher education, educational policy, academic traditions.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to contribute an actor-network-theory (ANT) perspective of how algorithms are used and whether this reflects positively on organisational practices and related perceptions of organisation performance, by both customers and employees. Furthermore, the organisation’s view of adopting algorithms to manage their performance is explored. Design/methodology/approach The current study is a study set in this virtual space, as it seeks to use data available online from different stakeholders of the case organisation. Online “virtual space” studies have become more common over the past few years. Primary and secondary data are shared online, for instance on relevant rating websites for customers (such as TrustPilot) and employees (such as Indeed), which serve as a reflection of the organisational performance and the communication of their values. This type of study has become more prevalent, either as a study undertaken online fully (Hine, 2007) or partially (for instance Baxter et al., 2019), which provides a different perspective to traditionally carried out face-to-face interactions. Findings The current study has contributed insights from a global case organisation in the logistics sector originating in the Middle East (ME). The case organisation clearly indicates that its algorithm, in line with particular presentations and discussions on online platforms, is focussed on analysing limited factors, which are prediction of accurate delivery timeslot, preferred and precise location for delivery and speed of delivery overall. This reflects an inherent bias of the delivery industry, which the case organisation operates in, and may focus attention on delivering on those objectives, with a detrimental effect on the organisation’s broader organisational mindset. This refers to long-term values and sustainability-related objectives. Originality/value Findings will reflect on whether algorithms can be used to align a multi-national organisation to achieve its desired performance and related desirable results. This will be one of the main contributions of the current study, which engages with a multi-national organisation in the logistics sector that is based in the ME region.

Abstract This investigation is focused on two objectives: 1) explaining the relationship between quality management and performance management in higher education; 2) evaluating the existing quality management systems in the higher education institutions of the Republic of Moldova. In order to accomplish the first objective, a comparative theoretical analysis of the quality management and performance management was carried out in terms of common aspects and distinctive peculiarities. Consequently, it was reasoned that the performance management system of a higher education institution is created and functions on the basis of the quality management system by extending the area of the quality objectives to the level at which they will ensure performance or, in other terms, by moving towards excellence. In order to achieve the second objective, an opinion survey for the teaching and managerial staff from 6 universities was carried out. As a consequence of processing the obtained results, there were identified problems related to the functioning of the quality management systems. The investigation resulted in the formulation of a set of recommendations for the higher education institutions of the Republic of Moldova in order to increase the efficiency of the quality management systems functioning and thus to ensure an efficient management.

This article aims to detect how ESG adds value to the long-term shareholder value creation and to discover whether businesses are aware of positive ESG effects and, therefore, whether they will become more ESG-conscious. By conducting a qualitative content analysis on the academic literature, this article firstly aims to determine if shareholders’ value is positively affected by corporate ESG awareness. Secondly, to test whether companies are becoming more conscious about the importance of ESG, the mission statements of publicly listed Central and Eastern European (CEE) companies are compared to their decade-old versions. This analysis allows us to conclude on whether companies have shifted their attention to the ESG factors as a part of their purpose of existence and, therefore, for long-term shareholder value creation, which is one of the main goals of the exchange-listed enterprises. The content analysis results show that companies with higher sustainability awareness ensure shareholder value creation via improved financial performance, management quality as well as reduced risk metrics. Additionally, qualitative nonfinancial factors such as reputation, stakeholder trust, employee satisfaction and engagement provide an even more significant effect on the long-term value than the pure financial matters. The theoretical trend is found to be supported by the fact that sustainability practice and consumer-oriented keywords dominate the mission statements of CEE companies, while keywords related to shareholders and profit experienced the most significant decrease from 2012 to 2021. The present research is unique as it looks at how companies tend to become more ESG aware, integrating the sustainability perspective into their mission statements in response to the global sustainability trend.

There is no room for debate about that the quality is one of the most important competitive factor and nobody against that this quality virus has to be spread. The paper would like to help with methods and techniques -what are not well known and used in the domestic organizations- to spread this virus in different fields of the organization. Its strategic motto is: Instead of quality management development and improvement the quality of the management has to be developed in the interest of quality management. Today, that idea has to be given up what says more and more modern quality systems development start is needed instead of it the whole quality of the management has to be developed. High level of the quality system is not equal with the high quality of the management. It has to be turned. The high level of the management quality will ensure the possibility of well operating high level quality management. The paper wants to present this from different aspects on the one hand by comparing the classical development of quality management systems on the other hand by new (volume, profit and quality) approaches of certain management elements and methods.

Customer focus is one of the main principles of Total Quality Management, and it is inevitable for long term, mutually successful vendorcustomer partnerships. The strictly controlled quality management systems of animal feed industry ensure that product quality meets the expectations of all parties involved and, indirectly the reliability of human food raw materials. Meanwhile, the participants of agricultural production are variably quality conscious, so feed manufacturers support their supply chain and also their customers with professional background and they play a key role in safe food chains from farm to fork.

<p><strong>Purpose:</strong> The main purpose of the paper was to determine the impact of an implementation of the quality management system according to ISO 9001 on the improvement of processes related to the management of liabilities to suppliers.</p><p><strong>Methodology/Approach:</strong> The research covered 38 Polish small trading enterprises operating in two group purchasing organizations. The research period concerned the years 2014-2016. The surveyed enterprises were divided into those that implemented standardized quality management systems (10 organizations) and the ones that do not use such solutions (28 organizations). Next, the analyses were made and the results obtained by enterprises associated in particular groups were compared.</p><p><strong>Findings:</strong> The obtained results confirm that more effective management of liabilities towards suppliers can be observed in enterprises applying appropriate system procedures. This group includes long-term liabilities and the turnover ratio of short-term liabilities in days achieves lower results than results for enterprises that did not introduce standardized quality management systems.</p><p><strong>Research Limitation/implication:</strong> Due to a small research sample, the obtained results can only be considered as an introduction to further research and deliberations.</p><p><strong>Originality/Value of paper:</strong> The considerations discussed in this article concern a relatively rarely discussed subject matter in the literature.</p>
