Coastal areas play a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance of ecosystems and developing the social and economic wellbeing of the countries bordering it. However, the pressure on both terrestrial and marine resources, the use of oceans as a wastes deposit, the growth of population and the increasing of urbanization and human activities in coastal areas are all causes for marine and coastal degradation. The present situation constitutes a significant danger in many places. As an example, the pollution of the coastal waters in the Mediterranean has increased in recent years. Industrialization, tourism and ports activities along the coastline of the Mediterranean are the main sources of many pollutants that have effects on human’s health and environment. So that, it is very important to examine seawater quality in order to protect the marine and coastal areas from degradation. Hence, comes the need to consider a physicochemical and bacteriological study to evaluate the quality of Tangier coastal seawater using the Water Quality Index (WQI). A campaign of 25 sampling points was conducted and the results of the WQI calculation have highlighted the Tangier water was between medium and bad.

The total population of District Kuta Utara 2014 recorded 68.422 people with an average population density of 2,021 people/km2 while the number of tourism accommodation facilities (hotels, villas, restaurants) recorded 399 pieces. The rapid of population growth and the development of tourism accommodation facilities require ground water more increasing. Intake of large amounts of ground water potential to cause pollution/ sea water intrusion. This study aims to determine the quality of the groundwater, knowing distribution maps sea water intrusion and to predict the level of sea water intrusion coming years. This research method uses descriptive quantitative method. Furthermore, to determine the quantity and quality of ground water was measured groundwater levels and analysis of the parameters of temperature, total dissolved solid, pH, chloride, hardness and electrical conductivity of the 60 sample wells. Results of analysis of each of the key parameters that can be mapped and known overlay distribution maps sea water intruded area. The observation of the quantity and quality of groundwater in coastal areas of Kuta Utara subdistrict shows the range of the depth of the ground water level between -5.15 meters to -22.16 meters. Results of the analysis of ground water quality of the 60 groundwater samples showed that there has been a decline in the quality of ground water is as much as 14 samples total dissolved solid (TDS) the highest reaches 1,122 mg/ l, the highest electrical conductivity reached 1,677 ìMhos / cm and the highest chloride reached 532, 5 mg/l. Distribution maps sea water intruded area shows that in coastal areas troubled district of Kuta Utara indicated seawater intrusion, especially in the area of Petitenget and Batubelig, Kerobokan Kelod Village area of 78.44 Ha. Prediction of sea water intrusion in 2022 was highest in the area of tourism accommodation caused by ground water extraction enough much, kind of gray-brown soil regosol has a rough texture and high permeability characteristics so it is easy to pass groundwater.

In seawater aquariums, seawater quality plays a very important role for the survival of the biota in it. There are measurement parameters that determine the quality of the seawater fit to be inhabited by seawater ornamental fish such as clown fish. Measurement parameters are such as temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen content (DO), pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. Current technological developments make it possible to create a system that automatically conducts seawater drainage in a seawater aquarium so that the quality of the seawater remains in accordance with its measurement parameters and is fit for habitation by seawater ornamental fish such as clown fish. In this study the measurement parameters that become the reference are the temperature, pH (acidity) values obtained from the temperature sensor and the pH sensor. For normal temperatures, if the temperature is in the range of 24°C to 28°C, while for the ideal temperature is in the range of 25-27°C. For an appropriate pH in a saltwater aquarium is 7.5-8.5 with an ideal pH of 8.2. From the results of measurements made by these sensors, the value will be processed using the fuzzy logic method, then the condition of sea water quality in the aquarium can be seen from the smartphone, and when the measurement results show an inappropriate value, the system will automatically drain the water

ABSTRACT: Kendal sea waters are connected to the Buntu River, Kendal River, and the Blorong River which carry waste from human activities such as domestic waste, fishery, agriculture, ship activities, and fish auction activities. These activities can influence the bacteriological quality of the waters of Kendal District. This research was conducted to analyze the bacteriological quality of seawater and sediments from Kendal Seawaters based on the total number of bacteria and Coliform. Seawater and sediment samples were taken on October 2019. Bacteriological analysis was conducted at the Semarang Fisheries Product Quality Testing Laboratory (BPMHP) using methods based on ISO 6222: 1999 and SNI 01-2332.3 - 2015, SNI ISO 9308-1: 2010 and SNI 01-2332.1 - 2006. The results showed the total number of bacteria in sea water samples at station 1 ranged from 190 Cfu - 240 Cfu, at station 2 between 340 Cfu-380 Cfu. The total amount of Coliform in seawater samples at station 1 and 2 are 1 Cfu / 100 ml. The total number of bacteria in sediment samples at station 1 and 2 are between 19,000 Cfu - 90,000 Cfu and the total number of coliforms at both stations are 3.6 MPN / g Coliform. The total value of this coliform is below the sea water quality standard for marine life, the maximum is 1,000 with a tolerance of <10%. Where as the total number of bacteria is not regulated in the seawater quality standard. But in general the total number of bacteria in seawater is 106 cells / ml. So the value of the total bacterial analysis shows that the quality of sea water is still good.

The beach is the junction between the highest tide and the mainland, while the coastal area is the transition between terrestrial and marine ecosystems that is affected by changes in land and sea. The utilization of coastal areas and small islands in Indonesia is regulated in Act Number 27 of 2007 on the Management of Coastal Areas and Small Islands that is last amended into Act Number 1 of 2014, and is also based on Basic Act on Agrarian. Utilization of coastal waters is given in the form of rights to enterprise the coastal waters, namely the rights on certain parts of the coastal waters to enterprise marine resources and fisheries, as other business related to the utilization of coastal resources and the small islands covering sea level and water column over surface of the sea floor at a certain breadth limit. The coastal land in the coastal areas can essentially be owned by or be the right of a person or legal entity. Owning and authorizing the coastal land and utilizing the coastal areas should certainly pay attention to and be compatible with the spatial planning of regencies or cities.

Jepara Regency has a coastal area which has the potential to develop aquaculture. The aquaculture business relies on sea water as a culture medium so that it requires information on sea water quality parameters. One important parameter of seawater quality is dissolved oxygen (DO). Because aquatic creatures depend heavily on oxygen for their life and growth. This study aims to provide information about the parameters of dissolved oxygen along the coast of Jepara Regency to support aquaculture ponds. The study used a survey method by measuring parameters of dissolved oxygen levels and seawater temperatures throughout Jepara Regency. There are 10 observation points with distance between 700 m and distance from coast about 500 m. Repetition is done 3 times around the observation point. Analysis is done qualitatively to get conclusions. The results showed that DO content ranged from 4.7 mg l - 5.4 mg/l and temperatures ranged from 27.8oC - 28.6oC. The lowest DO is in the coastal waters of Mororejo Village, Mlonggo District and the highest is in the coastal waters of Keling District. Based on the analysis of DO content along the coast waters of Jepara Regency, the waters of the Kedung, Tahunan, Kembang, Keling and Donorojo Districts have DO levels between 5.1 mg/l - 5.4 mg/l. This value indicates that the class is suitable for supporting pond aquaculture activities

This chapter is about residents' perceptions of the social impacts caused by tourism. The objective of the study is to analyze how the impacts of tourism influence the quality of life of residents of tourist destinations. The proposed methodology is based on a quali-quantitative approach with field research through the application of a questionnaire with residents of three coastal areas of Fortaleza: Grande Pirambu, Beira Mar, and Praia do Futuro (Northeast of Ceará-Brazil). The results show that tourism impacts positively on the quality of life, especially for residents of Beira-Mar and Praia do Futuro; however, residents of Grande Pirambu pointed to job generation as the greatest of the positive impacts in the area. About the negative impacts, the highest percentage was identified in Beira Mar, corroborating the need to plan tourism to expand benefits and minimize costs of tourism. It concludes that the impacts of tourism on the quality of life of residents in the studied areas are diverse, and that the most affected dimensions were related to economic aspects and citizenship.

Abstract European eel stocks are in a decline all over Europe. In Estonia, we analysed three different dataseries (commercial landings 1969–2014, scientific eel monitoring 1998–2014, and recreational catches 2005–2012). In the commercial fishery, the biggest drop in landings occurred in the 1980s, with a small recovery in the end of the 1990s. We also interviewed fishers to evaluate the quality of the official catch figures. In the monitoring dataseries, gathered by the use of special eel fykenets, the steepest cpue decline occurred in the last 5 years. Finally, recreational eel fishery has almost stopped: in 2012, catches were only 3% of that in 2005. In conclusion, both professional and recreational eel catches have declined in all the coastal areas of Estonia. The number of professional and recreational fishers specialized to eel fishing has decreased and the number of licences for eel-specific fishing gear has been reduced.
