It is well documented that religion and its different aspects positively affect people’s ability to forgive. However, studies have rarely moved beyond direct associations to explore potential mediators of this relationship. In this context, our main aim was to examine the direct relationship between God’s engagement/disengagement in response to prayer and forgiveness with the possible influence of a positive orientation. Data were gathered from 464 participants aged 18 to 75 (M = 31.10; SD = 11.32). This study included 255 women (55%) and 209 men. We used the Brief Measure of Perceived Divine Engagement and Disengagement in Response to Prayer, the Transgression-Related Interpersonal Motivations Inventory, and the Positivity Scale. In line with our hypotheses, interpersonal forgiveness correlated positively with God’s perceived engagement (H1); it was negatively associated with God’s disengagement (H2); and it was positively linked to positive orientation (H3). Moreover, positive orientation mediated the relationship between religiosity and interpersonal forgiveness. This may suggest that positivity is not indifferent in the process of forgiving, especially when people are aware of God’s involvement in their lives.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship among passive leadership, organizational justice and affect-based trust. In addition, the meditating role of affect-based trust between these relationships is also investigated. Design/methodology/approach The data have been collected using anonymously completed questionnaire that has questions regarding passive leadership as independent variable, affect-based trust as mediator and organizational justice as dependent variable. Findings It is noted that the passive leadership is negatively associated with the affect-based trust and perceptions of organizational justice and the mediating role of affect-based trust is also confirmed between these relationships. Originality/value This study provides a new insight for social science knowledge base by explaining the direct relationship of passive leadership with organizational justice and through affect-based trust.

Introduction: Marital infidelity is a major factor that affects the strength, durability, and mental health of families. The present study aimed to investigate the mediating role of marital satisfaction in the causal relationships between forgiveness and the feeling of loneliness with attitudes toward marital infidelity in married students. Materials and Methods: This causal-correlational and field study was conducted on 211 married students who were selected from Ahvaz Branch, Islamic Azad University, Ahvaz, Iran, during the academic year 2018-2019 through convenience sampling. The data were collected using the Interpersonal Forgiveness Inventory, Russell’s Loneliness Scale, Whatley’s Attitude towards Infidelity Scale, and ENRICH marital satisfaction questionnaire. Furthermore, the data analysis was performed in SPSS software (version 24) through descriptive and inferential statistics, including mean±SD, Pearson’s correlation, and path analysis. Results: A direct and negative relationship was observed between forgiveness and attitudes toward marital infidelity (β=-0.181, P=0.013); feeling of loneliness and marital satisfaction (β=-0.252, P=0.001); and marital satisfaction and attitudes toward marital infidelity (β=-0.418, P=0.001). Furthermore, there was a direct and positive relationship between forgiveness and marital satisfaction (β=0.517, P=0.001). Eventually, there was no significant direct relationship between the feeling of loneliness and attitudes toward marital infidelity (β=-0.029, P=0.652). The results of path analysis indicated that marital satisfaction had a mediating role in the relationship between forgiveness and attitude towards marital infidelity (β=-0.165, P=0.001), as well as the association between the feeling of loneliness and attitude towards marital infidelity (β=0.138, P=0.002). Conclusion: The results showed a good fit for the proposed model in this study. Moreover, marital satisfaction played an important role in the relationship between forgiveness and the feeling of loneliness with the attitude toward marital infidelity.

According to Bain & Company, CRM is at the top of management tools in recent years. This article aims to answer the productivity paradox of CRM and investigates the impact of both CRM and innovation on firm performance and also investigating mediating role of innovation to explain the effect of CRM on performance. To obtain research objective, an empirical study was conducted. For evaluating conceptual model, survey instrument was developed. The relationship between dimensions of CRM and innovation, as well as the relationship between innovation and business performance, were approved, but direct relationship between dimensions of CRM and business performance, according to the data collected, was not approved. Innovation and CRM both are valuable capabilities, which are viewed necessary to achieve a competitive advantage. However, there are little researches about how the interaction of these two concepts improve performance, and despite massive investments in the field of CRM, its impact on business is ambiguous.

The purpose of the present study was to examine direct and indirect relations among social problem-solving, depression, and aggression, as well as the mediating role of depression in the link between social problem-solving and aggression among Turkish youth. Data for the present study were collected from 413 adolescents. The participants’ age ranged from 14 to 17 with a mean of 15.74 years (SD = .97). Results indicated that social problem-solving was significantly and negatively associated with both depression and aggression. Also, depression significantly and positively associated with aggression and depression appears to act as a mediator in the relationship between social problem-solving and aggression. Findings suggest that social problem-solving and depression are important factors in understanding aggression among Turkish youth.

The aim of the study is to analyze the Mediating Role of Learning Capability in the Relationship between Authentic Leadership and Business Performance. This study will contribute to the explanation of the question, “What are the reasons inter-firm differences for superior performance?” and it will guide the firms on how they create sustainable competitive advantage and how they generate above-average profits. In this context, medium and large-sized enterprises involved the finance business and located the Marmara Region are included in the study. Data obtained from 252 employees in different grades have analyzed in order to test the hypotheses developed. As a result of the analysis, a significant and direct relationship was found between authentic leadership and business performance and also a significant and direct relationship was found between learning capability and firm performance. However, it was understood that learning capability has a mediating role in the relationship between authentic leadership and business performance

This study examined the relationship between ethical leadership and project success with mediating role of employee trust and moderating role of ethical orientation. Data were collected from 100 employees from Kanji Advisory a project based company in Pakistan which designs and develops client responsive business strategies. The results proved that ethical leadership influences project success with the mediation of employee trust and with the moderation of ethical orientation.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the possible mediating role of switching cost (SC) in influencing customer loyalty (CL). Design/methodology/approach The authors derive a model containing the relationships between customer satisfaction (CS), brand image (BI), and CL through mediating effects of SC. Data collected from 200 subscribers of China Mobile was analysed using structural equation modelling technique. Findings The authors find that SC does not mediate the relationship between CS and CL, nor that between BI and CL. While both CS and BI have a direct and positive relationship with CL, only CS is positively associated with the SC. SC in itself has no direct relationship with CL, necessitating further understanding of its role. Research limitations/implications Prior findings have suggested the mediating role of SC, this study, however, show that SC does not have any mediating role in influencing CL. In fact, the direct role of SC is also questioned, as the authors do not find any direct relationship between SC and CL. Practical implications While managers should retain a balanced strategy for implementing SC, developing a strong BI and achieving CS is more important, and could help avoid any negative implications that may ensue from the implementation of SC. Originality/value This paper offers empirical evidence of the importance of SC – or rather lack of it – in enhancing CL. It also helps explain how SC interacts with CS and BI.

This study taps into the questions of whether there is a direct relationship between customer generosity to customer intention in participating in charity program or there is a mediating role of positive emotion in the relationship. Previous study showed inconsistency on the motivation of people being generous. We hypothesize that there are direct and indirect relationship between customer generosity to customer intention in participating in future charity program. Using descriptive quantitative method, this study was conducted in Indonesian adults in several cities in Indonesia. A structured questionnaire regarding the construct of the study was designed using 6 Likert scale. Data from total 100 returned questionnaires was analyzed with PLS-SEM. The result of the study confirms the hypotheses that people has intention to participate in future charity program is not only motivated by the positive emotion but also motivated pure empathy.

Against the scourge of the COVID-19 pandemic, college students’ learning engagement has become a key issue in universities and society. Guided by the theories of existential positive psychology and social perception, we explored the positive effect of a growth mindset on learning engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 1,040 college students from universities in Henan Province of China effectively completed online questionnaires. The results showed that growth mindset was positively related to learning engagement and negatively associated with perceived COVID-19 event strength and perceived stress; perceived COVID-19 event strength was positively related to perceived stress, while perceived COVID-19 event strength and perceived stress were negatively associated with learning engagement. Growth mindset affected learning engagement through three indirect paths: the mediating role of perceived COVID-19 event strength, the mediating role of perceived stress, and the serial mediating role of both perceived COVID-19 event strength and perceived stress. The results indicated that the growth mindset could contribute to college students’ learning engagement through the roles of perceived COVID-19 event strength and perceived stress during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study advances the understanding of the mechanism underlying the relationship between growth mindset and college students’ learning engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the findings of the study have important implications for promoting college students’ learning engagement during the pandemic.

Abstract. This study investigated the mediating role of coping humor in the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and job satisfaction. Participants were 398 primary school teachers in China, who completed the Wong Law Emotional Intelligence Scale, Coping Humor Scale, and Overall Job Satisfaction Scale. Results showed that coping humor was a significant mediator between EI and job satisfaction. A further examination revealed, however, that coping humor only mediated two sub-dimensions of EI (use of emotion and regulation of emotion) and job satisfaction. Implications for future research and limitations of the study are discussed.
