The questions of stimulation of seed before sowing are considered by the high-frequency electromagnetic field considered. The method of irradiation of seed and determination of him is offered electric descriptions. On the basis of structure of cages electric properties of biological fabric which seed consist of are certain. The change of constituents of active resistance is shown depending on frequency of current. It is experimentally proved that it is impossible to erect an equivalent electric chart to the simple cases of connection of resistances and capacities, namely seed can not be considered a neutral dielectric. The method of estimation of intensity of exchange processes  is developed depending on electric resistance of seed.

Abstract This paper analyses the effectiveness of determining gas concentrations by using a prototype WO3 resistive gas sensor together with fluctuation enhanced sensing. We have earlier demonstrated that this method can determine the composition of a gas mixture by using only a single sensor. In the present study, we apply Least-Squares Support-Vector-Machine-based (LS-SVM-based) nonlinear regression to determine the gas concentration of each constituent in a mixture. We confirmed that the accuracy of the estimated gas concentration could be significantly improved by applying temperature change and ultraviolet irradiation of the WO3 layer. Fluctuation-enhanced sensing allowed us to predict the concentration of both component gases.

Abstract A second collaborative study was made of the Norris colorimetric method for malathion as modified by Upham to use acetonitrile as extraction solvent and by Ware to use a procedural standard instead of a standard curve. The following variables were evaluated: temperature change, levels of malathion, volume of alkali, shaking time, volume of ferric reagent, oxidizing time, deterioration of copper complex, interference of lubricant, effect of ultraviolet radiation, interference of other pesticides. The method was rewritten to take account of these variables. On the basis of collaborative results, the method is recommended for adoption as official, first action.

Two test methods that may be used in commercial egg pasteurizers while in normal operation are described. Either may be used without damage to the product and with almost no disturbance to regular plant procedures. These tests have been needed to help determine the degree of compliance with pasteurization requirements. The first method requires injection of a cold shot into the flow stream entering the holding tube and determination of the time required for the first of this material to arrive at the outlet of the holding tube. The cold shot is introduced into the line by use of a by-pass loop. The arrival of the cold shot at the end of the holding tube is detected by use of a sensitive recorder to indicate the temperature change. The second method is based on the use of a fluorocarbon compound as a tracer. The compound is dissolved in yolk, which is injected into the flow stream entering the holding tube. Samples taken at the end of the holding tube are checked with a fluorocarbon leak detector of the type used in the refrigeration industry. The first positive sample is taken as the time of arrival of the injected tracer. Fluorocarbon compound 12 which is permitted in the immersion freezing of foods may be used and has no effects on the functional properties of the products.

The focus of this work is the design, construction and evaluation of a thermal conductivity meter apparatus based on ASTM E- 1225 standard. The thermal conductivity is a heat-transport propriety and with the development of new materials the determination of thermophysical properties for its correct use becomes necessary. The apparatus was projected in CAD software and the material selection was done following the standard recommendations. For the meter bars were used 304 stainless steel, since its thermal conductivity is known. The heater was made with an aluminum cylinder block and a cartridge electric resistance. The cooling system was assembled using a Peltier thermoelectric plate and a fin heat sink equipped with a fan. Lastly, a steel pipe was used for building the guard cylinder. In order to evaluate the apparatus, the first specimen tested was the 304 stainless steel, the same material as the meter bars. The result of thermal conductivity showed an error of 6% relative to the value found in literature. However, in this test the temperature of isothermal guard cylinder was lower than the temperature required by the standard. Thus, the future goals will be the development of a temperature control for the guard cylinder and realization of more tests with different materials.
