This study examines the influences of market orientation, supply chain relationship quality, and absorptive capacity on competitive advantage in green supply chains. We examine the intensity of these relationships in a green supply chain context. This study aims to figure out the effects of green market orientation (GMO), green supply chain relationship quality (GRQ), and green absorptive capacity (GAC) on green competitive advantage (GCA) in a supply chain. We find a significant positive association between these constructs. It highlights the importance of antecedents such as GMO, GRQ, and GAC on improving GCA. We jointly investigate the effects of GMO, GRQ, and GAC on green supply chain competitive advantage. This study uses Process Macro 2.15 to test the mediation effect between GMO and GCA. The result shows that GRQ and GAC completely mediate the relationship between GMO and GCA and that the effect sizes are 0.11 and 0.20, respectively. This study also reruns the model to clarify whether competing models are better than our model. However, the performance of such a competing model is poor. Finally, we accept our model instead of the competing model. GMO and GRQ among team managers and employees appear to contribute positively to GCA. Although GAC does not directly influence GCA, GMO has a significant total effect on GCA when intervened by GRQ and GAC. The key contribution is that green market orientation, i.e., the employee culture and the emphasis on being environmentally responsible, is a key antecedent to GRQ, GAC, and GCA. Managerial implications of the findings are listed.

The aim of this study is to examine the supply chain performance of small medium enterprises (SMEs) in Vellore district. This research also determines the connection between market orientation and supply chain performance and the mediating effect of supply chain management strategy on the impact of market orientation on supply chain performance. The survey was administered and collected from employees and sales managers from three small medium enterprises (SMEs) in Vellore district. Correlation, regression, mediation effect using SPSS is performed to test the hypothesis. The findings of the study reveal that there exists a positive relationship between marketing orientation and supply chain performance and the manufacturing organization's supply chain management strategy mediates the connection between marketing orientation and supply chain performance.

Abstract Background and Objectives The veteran population is aging. Combat exposure is associated with negative health and psychological outcomes in some, but not all veterans; others even appear to experience gains. One mechanism driving these varied responses might be early life relationships. This study investigated the extent to which the quality of early maternal relationships influences the association between combat exposures and life satisfaction (LS) among older male veterans. Research Design and Methods Data were drawn from a pooled sample of male veterans in the Health and Retirement Study who completed the 2013 Veteran Mail Survey (N = 1,160). We used ordinary least squares regression to examine the association between combat exposures (with and without exposure to death) and LS, and the moderating effect of maternal relationship quality on this association. Results We found a significant positive association between maternal relationship quality and LS, and a significant association of combat that was dependent on maternal relationship quality. Specifically, combat-exposed veterans with poor maternal relationship quality reported lower LS, whereas combat-exposed veterans with high relationship quality reported higher LS—relative to their noncombat-exposed counterparts. The effects of exposure to death of hazardous toxins did not mediate or moderate this relationship. Discussion and Implications Findings indicate that maternal relationships had a lasting influence on whether combat contributed to a positive, negative, or neutral long-term effect on wellbeing. Findings support previous studies that suggest early life factors may play an important role in the fostering of resilient health outcomes over the life course. Implications for preventative strategies in soldiers are discussed.

Purpose: This study aims to examine the association between intellectual capital and competitive advantage in the hotel industry in Bali Province, Indonesia. The interrelationship between components of intellectual capital –human capital, relational capital, structural capital – were tested in this study, and testing was also carried out for the association of intellectual capital – represented by structural capital – with competitive advantage. Methodology: Data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire. A total of 172 questionnaires were sent to general managers of three-, four- and five-star hotels in Bali Province. A total of 109 questionnaires were returned and could be analysed (a 63% response rate). The analysis was performed using covariance-based structural equation modeling with AMOS 21.0 software. Main Findings: The findings show that between the components of intellectual capital there is a positive and significant association: human capital with relational capital, human capital with structural capital and relational capital with structural capital. The findings also show that structural capital has a significant positive association with a competitive advantage. Implications: Mobilising and utilising human capital as much as possible can create and enhance relational capital and structural capital. Willingness to realise, utilise, compile and develop organizational knowledge enables long-term competitive advantages to be achieved. Novelty: This study examines the association of intellectual capital – facilitated by structural capital – and competitive advantage, which researchers have not done before in the hotel industry.

In the present era, marketing based on some environmental and social considerations is raised as one of the most important activity of good and service production companies, and green marketing is one of the marketing areas that in environmental issues, many topics have been allocated to it. The purpose of this study is to develop a structural model for investigating the relationship between market orientation and environmental performance and green supply chain management strategies. The research method is a descriptive of type of survey and target population is employees and managers of Khalessazan Rooy Company in Zanjan. A questionnaire was used to collect data and was distributed among 215 employees and managers of the different levels of the company through random stratified sampling. In this research, the modeling of structural equations and partial least squares (PLS) were used to test the hypotheses and fit the model. The results showed that market orientation was effective on the supply chain management strategies. But its impact on environmental performance was rejected. On the other hand, the indirect effect of market orientation has been confirmed through the intermediate variable of supply chain management strategies. Finally, it was revealed that supply chain management approaches have a positive and significant effect on environmental performance.

There are several factors that drive organizations to consider implementing green supply chain (GSC) initiatives. This paper refines an instrument to empirically test the significance of the following drivers for participation in GSC initiatives: Government Regulation, Buyer/Supply Chain Influence, Internal Readiness, Competitive Advantage, and Corporate Social Responsibility. Corporate Social Responsibility emerged as the most significant variable that effected the decision making of the organizations around green supply chain management practices. Surprisingly, Competitive Advantage, which has been found to be a significant contributor in prior research when studied in isolation, did not emerge as a significant factor in this study. The emergent high correlation between the Corporate Social Responsibility and Competitive Advantage could imply that the Competitive Advantage could be embedded within the Corporate Social Responsibility when agencies focus on greening their supply chains.

PurposeScholars have recently begun to empirically evaluate the triple-A supply chain, which emphasizes concurrent capabilities in agility, adaptability and alignment across the supply chain to develop sustainable competitive advantage. Complexity theory suggests however that other combinations of triple-A capabilities may be equally effective, especially given a firm's strategic orientation relative to its market and its supply chain. Our research objective was to examine what combinations of these capabilities lead to the same outcome (i.e. high firm performance).Design/methodology/approachWe collected 182 survey responses from a global sample of supply chain managers. Qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) was employed to assess effective recipes of agility, adaptability, alignment, supply chain orientation, and market orientation.FindingsOur results revealed four distinct “recipes” (i.e. combinations of agility, adaptability, alignment, supply chain orientation and market orientation) that lead to high levels of firm performance.Originality/valueOur results indicate that firms currently do not necessarily have to concomitantly develop capabilities across all triple-A components. Considering the costs associated with developing each of these capabilities, the findings allow us to derive several theoretical and managerial insights.

This paper, based on a survey of manufacturing firms in south and central China regions, examines the relationship among green supply chain management, competitive advantage and firm performance. By factor analyses, the scale of manufacturing firm’s green supply chain management is obtained. The results show that green supply chain management can be conceptualized as a four dimensional variable: green manufacturing, green purchasing, green distribution and green logistics. Furthermore, after testing research hypotheses by LISREL, we find that these four constructs all have significant effects on competitive advantage, and that green manufacturing and green logistics have significant effects on firm performance. The implications for our findings are also presented.

The framework of this research is based on the discovery in the clues of former researches that Innovation-driven is the pre factor for the firm to grow up or to gain the competitive advantage, and among them, market orientation and technological opportunity are two of the major determinant factors for the firm’s gaining the competitive advantage and improving the performance and profits. Based on knowledge-based theory, a questionnaire survey of 220 Internet firms in China was conducted to empirically analyze the relationship between innovation driven, absorptive capacity, and new product innovation performance. The article found that: the absorptive capacity mediates the relationship between innovation-driven and new product performance, and market turbulence negative adjusts the relationship between market orientation and absorptive capacity. It is possible to understand more clearly the process of firms acquiring and digesting information, transforming and mining knowledge to achieve new product innovation performance by analyzing the process of knowledge absorption and conversion.
