Although innovative robotic technology plays an important role in the restaurant industry, there is not much research on it. Thus, this study tried to identify how to form behavioral intentions using the concept of perceived innovativeness in the context of robotic restaurants for the first time. A research model comprising 12 hypotheses is evaluated using structural equation modeling based on a sample of 418 subjects in South Korea. The data analysis results show that perceived innovativeness is an important predictor of the customers’ attitude, which in turn has a significant effect on desire. In addition, desire exerts a positive influence on intentions to use and willingness to pay more. Lastly, perceived risk moderates the relationships between (1) desire and intentions to use and (2) desire and willingness to pay more. Based on the above statistical results, important theoretical and managerial implications are presented.

This study tried to understand the intention of technology adoption for web-based self-service technology (SST) pertaining to the airline sector in India. A survey-based approach was employed to acquire 458 responses. These responses were obtained from passengers who were using the airline’s service. The passengers were from three international airports that are located in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore. The partial least square structural equation modeling technique was employed to investigate the hypothesis. To recognize the influences on web-based SST(endogenous variables), along with the concept of adoption purpose as per the air passengers’ perceptions, the initial qualitative study joined the resultant literature examination in correspondence with the interview with focus groups. The following are the exogenous factors applied in the study; apparent usefulness: apparent ease of usage, trustworthiness, perceived risk, supposed behavioral regulator, subjective standard, word-of-mouth reports, apparent playfulness, and approach and adaptation purpose. Results specify factors that suggestively affect the intention to employ SSTs. Theoretical as well as managerial implications are deliberated on.

<p>This study examines the relationships between quality, innovation, competitiveness, and financial performance of firms. Data were obtained from a questionnaire survey involving 223 Saudi companies and were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results indicate that innovation positively influences quality and the latter has a significant positive influence on the competitiveness of the firms. As expected, both quality and innovation indicators have an indirect influence on the financial performance of the firms through competitiveness. Therefore, this study discovers the important mediating role played by competitiveness in the positive effects of quality and innovation on financial performance of the firms. Finally, we found significant positive effects of competitiveness on financial performance of the firms. Managerial implications are also discussed.</p>

Under the catalysis of knowledge anxiety and cognitive surplus, knowledge sharing platforms has experienced rapid growth, which has accelerated the integration of knowledge resources online. As with all new successful and sustainable business products, the consumers will play an important role in the future development of online paid knowledge. Therefore, we constructed an extended technological acceptance model by examining factors that influence young Chinese people's willingness to pay for online paid knowledge. The study surveyed 405 young Chinese participants, in which the extended technological acceptance model was tested by using structural equation modeling. Findings indicate that perceived ease of use is positively associated with perceived usefulness and associated attitudes, whereas perceived usefulness and attitude is positively associated with purchase intention. Perceived risk and group conformity are found to indirectly affect consumers' willingness to pay. The study advances the current body of knowledge by empirically testing the impact of perceived risk and the role of cultural influence (group conformity) on purchasing intention. Finally, theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

Purpose This study aims to identify key factors that affected US respondents’ dining behavior at restaurants during the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach Due to the lack of a prior framework or model to test customers’ perceptions of dining-out behavior during this unprecedented time, this study used a mixed-methods approach, conducting two focus group discussions to generate potential restaurant attributes, followed by a US-based survey using an online panel. Using structural equation modeling, this study tested eight developed propositions. Findings The findings of this study indicated that the three key factors (i.e. restaurant dining environment, communication and hygiene and contactless features) made customers feel comfortable dining in the restaurant during the pandemic. Out of these three factors, only the restaurant dining environment and communication and hygiene were essential predictors for customers’ perceived trust toward the restaurant, leading to their willingness to pay more. This study used two moderators, customers’ perceived risk and support for restaurants to examine how they affected customers’ perceived trust and willingness to pay, respectively. Practical implications This study provides both theoretical and practical implications to the current body of knowledge in customers’ dining-out behavior and the development of operational strategies for restaurants to accommodate customers’ changing dining-out behavior due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To develop a holistic conceptual framework, this study incorporates two COVID-19-focused measurement items, perceived risk and support of the restaurant, to identify their moderating roles in the relationships among the five proposed measurement items. This study provides restaurant operators with insights into the altered dining-out behavior of their customers due to the COVID-19 pandemic and prepares them for the post pandemic environment. Originality/value During the unprecedented pandemic situation, few customers are willing to dine in restaurants. As local and national governments lifted the mandated COVID-19 protocols, restaurants opened their business slowly to cater to customers in compliance with the centers for disease control’s health and safety regulations. It is of utmost importance for restaurant operators to accommodate their customers’ needs when they dine in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. There is a paucity of research that has examined customers’ comfort level when dining in restaurants and customers’ preferred dining environment during the pandemic.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the usefulness of integrating measures of motivations in predicting purchase intentions of fresh cut products. In order to gain this purpose the authors developed a field study that involved about 425 consumers of fresh cut vegetables products. Design/methodology/approach – Questionnaire data were gathered in Italy on a Likert scale. Questions focussed on intentions to purchase fresh cut lamb’s lettuce from environmental sustainable farms, simulating a fresh cut product with an Eco-label. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The SEM technique is used to develop propositions representing a theoretical approach in the context of the process for purchasing fresh cut products. With regard to distinguishing between the motives, the authors referred to the approach that sets out two different types of motive: health and green. Findings – The resulting managerial implications make it possible to assess how much the different types of motive influence the attitude and affect the choices and the behavior of the consumers. Originality/value – This implies important managerial implications for new marketing strategies for minimally processed food products, with the opportunity to take advantage of the potential adoption of an Eco-label.

Purpose This study aims to examine the motivating factors that influence intentions to book shared rooms through Airbnb as well as the moderating effects of past experience and gender. Design/methodology/approach This study analyzed data from 214 leisure travelers who had previously stayed in shared rooms through Airbnb and 207 participants who had not yet experienced Airbnb. A covariance-based structural equation modeling (CB-SEM) technique was performed to test the significance of attitude, subjective norms, extroverted personality, perceived risk and perceived price. Furthermore, the study explored past experience and gender as moderators. Findings The results suggest that attitude, subjective norms and perceived risk significantly impacted intentions to book shared rooms through Airbnb. However, perceived price was not a significant determinant. In addition, this study verified that past experience and gender moderated the relationship between important referents and attitude/booking intentions. Practical implications This study gives Airbnb hosts a better understanding of travelers who choose Airbnb’s shared rooms. In addition, hosts who offer shared rooms can implement marketing strategies and complementary activities to not only reduce the risk of booking shared rooms but also attract more travelers. Originality/value While previous studies examined Airbnb as one homogeneous type of accommodation, this study focused on Airbnb’s shared rooms. A clearer understanding of consumers who intend to book Airbnb’s shared rooms will enable hosts to develop effective marketing strategies.

Purpose The study aims to examine the effect of knowledge management strategy (KMS) on knowledge-sharing behavior (KSB) and its subsequent effect on knowledge performance (KP). It also throws light on the mediating role of KM enablers (KMEs) and KSB. Design/methodology/approach In purview of previous literature, several hypotheses were framed. Structural equation modeling (SEM) using SPSS 20, PROCESS macro and AMOS 20 was used to examine the research hypotheses in a sample of empirical data collected from 350 employees of information technology (IT) service provider firms. Findings This paper empirically proves the existence of mediation effect of the proposed mediators (KME, KSB) between predictors (KMS, KSB) and outcomes (KSB, KP) in different hypothesized relationships. Result provides empirical evidence toward the positive influence of KMS dimensions (internal-oriented KMS, external-oriented KMS) on KSB and also confirms the influence of KSB on KP. Research limitations/implications This study examines the effect of KMS and KSB on KP with reference to the IT sector, thereby limiting generalization to other sectors. Practical and managerial implications have been discussed in the later sections of the study. Originality/value This study adds value to the existing KM literature by adjoining the links among knowledge strategy, sharing behavior and performance.

The long-term sustainability of China’s national parks depends on the appropriate use and management of park resources and the provision of positive experience opportunities for tourists. While past experience, in terms of frequency of visits to the same destination and behavioral intention measured as willingness to revisit/recommend, have been extensively examined in a typical destination loyalty model using structural equation modeling (SEM), past experience with other destinations and willingness to pay (WTP), another form of behavioral intention, have received less attention from researchers. This paper, for the first time, simultaneously examined these two types of past experience and WTP using both second-order and first-order SEMs, based on data collected from two national parks in China. Results show that, while frequency of visits had no significant impacts on attribute satisfaction (AS) nor on overall satisfaction (OS), previous experience with other destinations significantly influenced AS, which, in turn, significantly predicted OS. While OS significantly and consistently predicted visitors’ intentions to revisit/recommend for both samples, its impact on WTP was significant for one sample, but not for the other. This suggests that asymmetric beliefs in destination loyalty may exist, depending on how and where behavioral intention was measured. The study endorses norm theory in studying destination satisfaction.
