This conceptual paper aims to expand the notion of “farming newcomers” in Europe by also including those that we label “involuntary newcomers”, who correspond to the workforce coming unwillingly to farming for reasons associated with spatial (im)mobilities. We fully develop our aim in four steps. Firstly, we present an integrative literature review which describes how the interplay between the key concepts of the sustainable farming framework (i.e., sustained development, networked rural development, and spatial (im)mobilities) tailor the newcomers’ arrival to the farming sector. Secondly, we define involuntary newcomers, describe their profiles and list the barriers to their engagement with sustainable farming. Thirdly, we advance some implications and limitations of our work for mobility research agendas. Fourthly, we conclude with an overview of the main inputs provided by our paper. We contribute to the literature by showing that: (a) newcomers must be defined beyond land ownership; (b) involuntary newcomers are very diverse, due to trends in spatial (im)mobilities; and (c) there is a high risk of the sustainable farming framework failing to meet its ambitions if it continues to ignore involuntary newcomers (and the barriers they encounter) in sustainable forms of agriculture.

Despite the growing utility and prevalence of social entrepreneurship, an accepted definition remains elusive and infeasible. Yet, it is imperative that the principles guiding social entrepreneurship are identified so that common ground is established to facilitate future research. On the basis of a systematic literature review, this conceptual paper proposes a theoretical framework outlining social entrepreneurship as a three-dimensional framework as a function of continua of “social” and “business” logics, “beneficial” and “detrimental” social change logics, and “innovation” and “mundane” logics. The framework accommodates the fuzziness and ambiguity associated with social entrepreneurship whilst remaining a workable, identifiable construct. By accounting for the shifting logics practiced by social entrepreneurship that both influence and are influenced by the organizational environment, this framework provides an exit strategy for the definitional elusiveness of social entrepreneurship. The resultant structures and functions of social entrepreneurship are shaped by these constraints as reflected by the fluidity and flexibility endorsed by the framework. Four avenues for future research regarding social entrepreneurship are recommended on the basis of the framework proposed in this article.

Background. In modern society, there is an intensive increase in the incidence of arterial hypertension among young people, which is mainly due to lifestyle characteristics and related risk factors. Objective: to analyze the results of scientific researches of domestic and foreign authors regarding the study of risk factors in the development of arterial hypertension in children.Material and methods. A qualitative analysis of the current literature data on the risk factors for arterial hypertension and its prevention has been carried out.Results. It has been established that the occurrence of arterial hypertension in childhood is due to not only hereditary, but also a number of environmental risk factors.Conclusions. Further researches are needed to study new and established risk factors that must be considered when conducting primary prevention of the disease in children at high risk.

Financial instruments (FIs) have been an element of EU policies for almost 2 decades. They are in use also in CAP. Yet, they have not gained much popularity due to both their novelty in CAP and the complexity of their implementation. However, given the diminishing allocation of funds for CAP they are sure to become an important part of CAP support as they offer an important advantage to policy makers due to the leverage effect which enables the funds to be used more than once and thus to offer support to a larger group of beneficiaries. The paper is based on literature review and the analysis of EU documents related to FIs. Its aim is to assess the proposal of the EC relating to the use of FIs in the CAP 2020+ taking into account the lessons learnt during the implementation of FIs in rural development programmes (RDPs) in the previous and current programming periods. Results show that wider use of FIs in CAP 2020+ as compared to the current period is inevitable. Yet, there are serious problems that have to be tackled to make the FIs’ implementation a success. This included careful planning and educating potential beneficiaries.
