There is a high tendency for conversion from a statistical economy based on measuring tangible assets into investigating non-tangible capital drive in the present economic status worldwide. The implications of intellectual capital on innovation performance have widely attracted attention among researchers in the global arena. The present study investigated the impacts of intellectual capital on innovation performance in the banking sector as influencing non-tangible assets. Besides, the role of dynamic capabilities in moderating the relationship between intellectual capital and innovation performance was examined. A purposive sampling technique was applied to 364 participants from Iraqi commercial banks as the research context. Thereafter, structural equation modelling (SEM) was utilised to analyse the collected data from the survey questionnaire using SPSS.v25 and AMOS.v24. The study found that the employees’ levels of intellectual capital significantly increased toward innovativeness through the moderating role of dynamic capabilities between intellectual capital and innovation performance in the commercial banking sector for better competitive advantages. Consequently, the study provides valuable insights and guidance for academicians and practitioners on the impacts of developing intellectual capital on enhancing competitive performance, especially in the context of Iraqi commercial banks.

The current economic trend worldwide is for an industrial economy based on tangible assets to convert into a non-tangible economy based on intellectual capital. Lately, a multidimensional view of intellectual capital and its implications on innovation performance have generated renewed research interests. Based on these facts, the relationship amongst different antecedent factors such as culture and trust on intellectual capital components was analysed. In addition, a correlation among intellectual capital components (as non-tangible assets) and innovation performance for the banking sector was established. The positivism philosophy, deductive approach and quantitative methods were used as the research methodology to accomplish the research objectives. In this process, a questionnaire survey and purposive sampling technique were used to collect the responses from 364 employees of the Iraqi commercial banks. The obtained data were analysed statistically using the SPSS v25 and AMOS v24 software. The results revealed a significant impact of culture and trust (antecedent factors) on various intellectual capital components. Furthermore, a strong connection between these antecedent factors and intellectual capital components was evidenced, confirming the study hypotheses. Interestingly, intellectual capital components were found to enhance significantly the innovation performance of the banks, leading to better competitive advantages. In addition, it provided evidence on the impacts of inter-relationships amongst human, structural and relational capitals. Consequently, the study provides academicians and practitioners valuable insights into and guidance on how developing intellectual capital enhances competitive performance, especially in the context of Iraqi commercial banks.

Purpose This study aims to analyse the complementary role of structural and relational capital (as the outcomes of codification and personalisation knowledge management strategies) in renewal capital and innovation in high- and low-tech companies. Design/methodology/approach The primary data, which were collected through a structured questionnaire from 180 Spanish companies, are analysed using structural equation modelling based on partial least squares. Findings Overall, the study offers three fundamental findings. First, it demonstrates the outstanding role of renewal capital as an intellectual capital (IC) component; second, it provides a conceptual analysis of the connection between knowledge management strategies and IC; and third, it highlights the necessity of considering the technological level of the firm as a contingency variable affecting the IC–innovation relationship. Research limitations/implications The study has three apparent limitations: The sample of firms is restricted to Spanish companies, data concerning the main study variables were collected from only one person at each firm, and not all of the possible components of IC were included in the research model. Practical implications Business practitioners can find useful guidelines for making efficient use of knowledge resources when boosting innovation performance, depending on the technological level of their firms. Originality/value Although many studies have tried to disentangle the IC–innovation connection, this study is unique, as it considers knowledge management strategies, a novel combination of IC components and the level of technological sophistication in the same analysis.

Building on resource-based view theory, this article investigates the impact of human resource practice flexibility (HRPF) on innovation performance with (a) the mediating role of intellectual capital (IC) and (b) moderating role of the industry type (service or manufacturing) of an organisation. We empirically examined the relations using a survey dataset of managers of 257 Indian organisations. We have used the structural equation modelling method for data analysis. Findings of the moderated mediation analysis revealed that IC mediates the relationship between HRPF and innovation performance (a) partially when the organisation operates in the service industry and (b) fully when an organisation operates in the manufacturing industry. Additionally, our study explains the underlying mechanism governing the same relationship.

In this paper, the main objective is to examine inbound open innovation adoption by exploring its antecedents in terms of dynamic organizational capabilities, its implications on innovation performance, but also its mediating role between these capabilities and Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) innovation performance. Therefore, a conceptual model was proposed and empirically tested on the basis of data extracted from a survey involving a sample of 228 Tunisian manufacturing SMEs and analyzed through the Structural Equation Modeling method. In doing so, this paper adds to the existing literature on open innovation in SMEs and fills a neglected theoretical gap by proposing a link between dynamic capabilities theory and the open innovation paradigm, two literatures that have little overlap, to improve current understanding of innovation performance in SMEs. Ultimately, by empirically confirming the significant relationship between dynamic organizational capacities and innovation performance through the mediating role of open innovation, our results are mainly relevant for entrepreneurs and innovation managers in SMEs who can find valuable guidance on how to strengthen innovation performance under the nexus between the dynamic capabilities perspective and open innovation by focusing on the development of three capabilities that are dynamic capabilities, absorptive capability, and appropriation capabilities.

The article outlines the role of state in the evolution of commercial banks in China. It looks at different stages of its development process. The paper engages with the deepening of state led financial reforms which led to the competitive advantage of China's commercial banking industry. The state-owned commercial banks, large joint-stock commercial banks, and small private commercial banks keep increasing their strengths due to regulations and monitoring by the Chinese state. Therefore, the article argues that state-owned commercial banks have relatively large market share and dominate in commercial banking sector due to the state.

PurposeThis study focuses on intellectual capital (IC) as a driver of better business performance. Recent studies suggest that a set of variables may mediate this relationship. This research discusses the mediating role of dynamic capabilities, network competence, technological capabilities, absorptive capabilities and innovation performance between intellectual capital and business performance.Design/methodology/approachThe conceptual model is tested using a sample of 533 Portuguese firms by means of a structural equation model.FindingsIt confirms that intellectual capital impacts business performance. Moreover, this only happens indirectly through the mediating chain defined by the variables dynamic capabilities, network competence, technological capabilities, absorptive capabilities and innovation performance.Originality/valueThis study analyzes new mediator variables between the dimensions of the intellectual capital and Portuguese business performance.

The goal of this research is to determineif intellectual capital could mediate the influence of knowledge management on the branch performance offices of state-owned banks. If we compare to the ASEAN banks, the performance of state-owned banks is weak, especially in the case of operational cost efficiency depressing the potential for large profits. The low level of performance cannotbeseparatedfrom of the low performance of branch offices. BI's expectation as stipulated in the BI Regulation of 2010 is that the banking sector should perform the maximum role of branch offices because if the management of branch offices understandknow more than head officedoes.The improvement in knowledge management should be made by state-owned banks at branch offices.Beside, it is necessary that aggregation of all knowledge and employee competence that allows companies to gain competitive advantage. In my research, the method of research used is explanatory survey. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using LISREL was chosen to test the hypothesis.152 pieces of sample were taken from the whole state-owned banksoffices in West Java. The focus of the assessment is the branch officees of state-owned banks located in the region of West Java because the industry's contribution in the region to GRDP is relatively large. My research concluded that the effect of Knowledge Management on Intellectual Capital was significant. The effect of Knowledge Management and Intellectual Capital on the performance of each Branch Office is significant. In this case intellectual capital played a role in mediating the effect  of Knowledge Management to the Branch performance Offices of state-owned banks in West Java. The Branch offices conducting knowledge management continuously resulted the good intellectual capital, which would strengthen the role of knowledge management in improving the branch performance.

Now-a-day’s businesses are highly concerned about the operations and how their activities affect the surroundings. Aiming to create better environment for the future generations, a number of steps has been taken by various local and international associations and bodies. Recently three of the components such as Corporate Governance (CG), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Intellectual Capital (IC) Disclosure has grab the major attention and maintained with an important manner. CG, CSR and IC disclosure are three of the most talkative prospects which have direct effects towards sustainability. Private Commercial banking sector is one of the most popular and growing segments in Bangladesh. Governed and monitored by the Bangladesh Bank, those banks contribute highly towards national economy. As a result, various components of sustainability are effectively maintained by the banks. This paper shows how CG, CSR and IC disclosure affect the sustainable practice of the private commercial banking sector in Bangladesh. It also relates various components and shows ways to improve the sustainable practice in the banking sectors.

Continuous development of technological innovations especially in the banking sector have stirred competition which has changed the way businesses operate resulting in the introduction of Unified Interface Payment (UPI) services. This study was conducted in order to analyse the adoption of UPI services through Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in Mysuru. Objectives of study were framed to determine the demographic factors that influence the practices of UPI by the customers, to examine the role of banks in integrating UPI services and products and to assess the various security issues affecting the usage of UPI services by Mysuru customers. Based on these objectives a structured questionnaire was prepared and primary data was collected from 165 respondents. Data was analysed making use of SPSS and other models namely Structural Equation Modeling with Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) Software. Finally the researchers identifies that there is a need for convergence of customer’s preference for safe and easy banking transactions. This study revealed that the customer’s model have to be well integrated for progress in UPI operations.

AbstractThis paper explores the influence of innovation approaches on innovation performance and firm performance among Indian biotechnology firms. Further, it aims to discuss the interceding role of innovation performance between innovation practices and firm performance. A criteria-based snowball sampling method was adopted for data collection. The collection of data was carried out using a web survey from 200 biotechnology firms located across India. The data is analysed using a covariance-based structural equation modelling (SEM) technique. The results indicate that the adoption of innovation practices positively influences the firms’ innovation and overall performance. Furthermore, the results confirm the mediating role of innovation performance between innovation approach adoption and firm performance. Firms, particularly from the biotechnology industry, can use these results to assess their performance and formulate or modify their strategy to improve their innovation and overall performance.
