Globalization has strengthened the flow of information and technology across borders. Sophisticated technological advancements have enabled rapidity in innovation and instantaneous communications, thereby reaching a wider audience. The purpose of this study is to understand the relative position of the three major developing countries – namely Croatia, India, and Sri Lanka concerning their phases of adoption of innovation. The study followed a descriptive research design. Data was collected via Web forms using a questionnaire and was administered among the youth in the three countries. The respondents of the study were chosen via the Snowball sampling technique. A spatial map to visualize the proximal relationship between the three countries and the stages of adoption of innovation was created using Correspondence analysis. In comparison, the study found Indian students to be among the ‘innovator’ and ‘early adopter’ categories. Whereas Croatia was placed close to 'late majority and Sri Lanka was placed midway between ‘early adopter’ and 'early majority.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the determinants and strategies of digital transformation adoption (DTA) in a developing country context through the lens of price value, hedonic motivation, inherent innovativeness and technology readiness. The study also investigates the impact of COVID-19 on banks in Ghana from the managers' perspectives and provide possible solutions for banks' successful transitioning and uptake of digital transformation in a post COVID-19 era. The study was carried out using a mixed-method approach from banks in Ghana. The findings of the study revealed that customers' technology acceptance and adoption of innovation is fraught with challenges. At the same time, employees/banks struggled to adjust to new technologies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Further, the findings indicate that price value, inherent innovativeness and technology readiness were the significant factors in DTA. Conversely, hedonic motivation was an insignificant factor in a developing country context. The paper concludes with a conceptual model for emergency digital transformation to respond to future pandemics.

PurposeThis study analyzed the multilevel barriers and facilitators of technological eco-innovations.Design/methodology/approachThe authors carried out an in-depth case study in a Brazilian cosmetics company, recognized for its eco-innovative initiatives, which has the technological eco-innovation of products as a central sustainability strategy.FindingsThe results contribute to the existing literature, showing that multilevel analysis is effective for minimizing barriers and increasing facilitators, especially through the company's adoption of an eco-innovation strategy and planning methodologies. The authors identified four groups of barriers: market, raw material, governmental and company's internal factors; and four groups of facilitators: legislation, market and technological innovation, communication and environmental management.Originality/valueThe original research results contribute both to the literature and to the companies that aim to implement eco-innovative measures. The results showed that the adoption of innovation strategies and planning methodologies by the company can minimize barriers and enhance facilitators. In addition the fact is that barriers and facilitators of implementing eco-innovations are dynamic factors that require continuous monitoring since they can be a barrier in one circumstance and a facilitator in another.

AbstractThis paper explores the influence of innovation approaches on innovation performance and firm performance among Indian biotechnology firms. Further, it aims to discuss the interceding role of innovation performance between innovation practices and firm performance. A criteria-based snowball sampling method was adopted for data collection. The collection of data was carried out using a web survey from 200 biotechnology firms located across India. The data is analysed using a covariance-based structural equation modelling (SEM) technique. The results indicate that the adoption of innovation practices positively influences the firms’ innovation and overall performance. Furthermore, the results confirm the mediating role of innovation performance between innovation approach adoption and firm performance. Firms, particularly from the biotechnology industry, can use these results to assess their performance and formulate or modify their strategy to improve their innovation and overall performance.

The adoption of innovation is very important for business actors to increase production and product quality. The existence of innovation can increase creativity in developing and running a business. The process of adopting innovation goes through several stages starting from the knowledge stage to the confirmation stage. This research is focused on the innovation decision process of UMKM amplang in North Kayong Regency. The research objective was to design the innovation decision process for UMKM amplang in North Kayong Regency. The method used is descriptive analysis method by presenting the questionnaire scores to group them into a range of categories in each innovation decision process. Collecting data using a questionnaire instrument to 12 UMKM amplang business actors. The results show that there has been no introduction and application of new innovations in producing UMKM amplang. Government involvement only provides business licensing. Informants often take advantage of social media for product promotion tools. In order to improve product quality and expand promotions, the informants really expect the emergence of new innovations from related parties. In the final stage of confirmation, the informants are neutral towards new innovations, but if these innovations have a good impact on their business, they will be implemented and sustainable. Efforts that can be made for UMKM amplang business actors must take the initiative to make breakthroughs and try something new to develop amplang products, such as seeking information not only through social media but through individuals or groups of people, visiting exhibitions of other processed products for expanding knowledge, being actively involved in the structure of MSMEs in the local area, learning from various literature sources related to examples of books and the internet.

While the benefits and advantages of using renewable energies are remarkable, and their prices have been decreasing dramatically and are expected to fall further, the diffusion and adoption of renewable energies still lag fossil energies. This paper improves our understanding regarding the role of the interrelationship among businesses (as an example of B2B networking amongst parent and subsidiary firms). Furthermore, it demonstrates the way/s that such interrelationships can contribute to the diffusion and adoption of sustainable and energy-efficient technologies. This study describes four diffusion channels in the interrelated firms which can help with promoting and using renewable and sustainable energies. The paper also reports the actual share of each diffusion channel contributing to implementing sustainable energy-efficient technologies in practice. The findings suggest that parent organisations enforce the majority (over 50%) of sustainable and energy-efficient technologies implemented in a B2B environment. In comparison, inter-subsidiary relationships are responsible for less than 30% of the implemented sustainable and energy-efficient technologies in organisations. The findings are in line with the forced perspective theory. They could, to some degree, explain the differences in the levels of implementation of sustainable and energy-efficient technologies in practice. These findings can help practitioners prioritise the diffusion channels when they want to facilitate the implementation of new technologies in their organisations. While some organisations may expect a more successful implementation of innovations initiated by subsidiaries than those enforced by parent organisations, the levels of success of the adoption of sustainable and energy-efficient technologies are not examined in this study. Further research is recommended to investigate the extent of association between different diffusion channels and the levels of success in terms of the adoption of innovation. We did not find similar studies to compare the results, which could be one of the limitations of this study.

Small-scale rice processors in Nigeria cannot afford to individually own rice destoners and have therefore not adopted its use. As a result, locally produced rice has failed to satisfy both the local and foreign markets in terms of quality. This study determined the willingness of the women rice processors to own and manage destoners in groups. The survey also determined the factors that influenced their willingness and the constraints to the joint acquisition of destoners. Following a two-stage random sampling technique, 195 respondents were selected on whom a structured interview schedule was administered. Descriptive statistics and the Probit Regression Analysis were used to present and analyse collected data. Findings reveal a high level of willingness (62.6%) influenced by the age of the respondents (-0.0341), their total annual income (0.3864), educational level (0.0757), rice farming experience (-0.7927), access to extension (-0.0089), and credit (0.0079) at P<.05. The burden of joint management (Mean score = 2.56), poor accountability (Mean score = 2.55), and poor organisation of the groups (Mean score = 2.47) were the most severe constraints to the joint acquisition of destoners among the women processors. The study concluded that the willingness of the women was high and influenced by some socio-economic characteristics. Strengthening of the processor groups through training in group dynamics and models of joint acquisition and ownership are some of the recommendations from the study.
