Space-time quantum contributions to the classical Einstein equations of General Relativity are determined. The theoretical background is provided by the non-perturbative theory of manifestly-covariant quantum gravity and the trajectory-based representation of the related quantum wave equation in terms of the Generalized Lagrangian path formalism. To reach the target an extended functional setting is introduced, permitting the treatment of a non-stationary background metric tensor allowed to depend on both space-time coordinates and a suitably-defined invariant proper-time parameter. Based on the Hamiltonian representation of the corresponding quantum hydrodynamic equations occurring in such a context, the quantum-modified Einstein field equations are obtained. As an application, the quantum origin of the cosmological constant is investigated. This is shown to be ascribed to the non-linear Bohm quantum interaction of the gravitational field with itself in vacuum and to depend generally also on the realization of the quantum probability density for the quantum gravitational field tensor. The emerging physical picture predicts a generally non-stationary quantum cosmological constant which originates from fluctuations (i.e., gradients) of vacuum quantum gravitational energy density and is consistent with the existence of quantum massive gravitons.

The manifestly-covariant Hamiltonian structure of classical General Relativity is shown to be associated with a path-integral synchronous Hamilton variational principle for the Einstein field equations. A realization of the same variational principle in both unconstrained and constrained forms is provided. As a consequence, the cosmological constant is found to be identified with a Lagrange multiplier associated with the normalization constraint for the extremal metric tensor. In particular, it is proved that the same Lagrange multiplier identifies a 4-scalar gauge function generally dependent on an invariant proper-time parameter s. Such a result is shown to be consistent with the prediction of the cosmological constant based on the theory of manifestly-covariant quantum gravity.

Small-amplitude quantum-gravity periodic perturbations of the metric tensor, occurring in sequences of phase-shifted oscillations, are investigated for vacuum conditions and in the context of the manifestly-covariant theory of quantum gravity. The theoretical background is provided by the Hamiltonian representation of the quantum hydrodynamic equations yielding, in turn, quantum modifications of the Einstein field equations. It is shown that in the case of the DeSitter space–time sequences of small-size periodic perturbations with prescribed frequency are actually permitted, each one with its characteristic initial phase. The same perturbations give rise to non-linear modifications of the Einstein field equations in terms of a suitable stochastic-averaged and divergence-free quantum stress-energy tensor. As a result, a quantum-driven screening effect arises which is shown to affect the magnitude of the cosmological constant. Observable features on the DeSitter space–time solution and on the graviton mass estimate are pointed out.

ABSTRACTIt is suggested, on heuristic grounds, that the energy-momentum tensor of a material field with non-zero spin and non-zero rest-mass should be non-symmetric. The usual relationship between energy-momentum tensor and gravitational potential then implies that the latter should also be a non-symmetric tensor. This suggestion has nothing to do with unified field theory; it is concerned with the pure gravitational field.A theory of gravitation based on a non-symmetric potential is developed. Field equations are derived, and a study is made of Rosenfeld identities, Bianchi identities, angular momentum and the equations of motion of test particles. These latter equations represent the geodesics of a Riemannian space whose contravariant metric tensor is gij–, in agreement with a result of Lichnerowicz(9) on the bicharacteristics of the Einstein–Schrödinger field equations.

In this study, to investigate the very nature of quantum black holes, we try to relate three independent studies: (q, p)-deformed Fermi gas model, Verlinde’s entropic gravity proposal and Strominger’s quantum black holes obeying the deformed statistics. After summarizing Strominger’s extremal quantum black holes, we represent the thermostatistics of (q, p)-fermions to reach the deformed entropy of the (q, p)-deformed Fermi gas model. Since Strominger’s proposal claims that the quantum black holes obey deformed statistics, this motivates us to describe the statistics of quantum black holes with the (q, p)-deformed fermions. We then apply the Verlinde’s entropic gravity proposal to the entropy of the (q, p)-deformed Fermi gas model which gives the two-parameter deformed Einstein equations describing the gravitational field equations of the extremal quantum black holes obeying the deformed statistics. We finally relate the obtained results with the recent study on other modification of Einstein equations obtained from entropic quantum corrections in the literature.

Using the Clifford bundle formalism, a Lagrangian theory of the Yang–Mills type (with a gauge fixing term and an auto interacting term) for the gravitational field in Minkowski space–time is presented. It is shown how two simple hypotheses permit the interpretation of the formalism in terms of effective Lorentzian or teleparallel geometries. In the case of a Lorentzian geometry interpretation of the theory, the field equations are shown to be equivalent to Einstein's equations.

We present a regular spherically symmetric cosmological model of the Lemaitre class distinguished by the holographic principle as the thermodynamically stable end-point of quantum evaporation of the cosmological horizon. A source term in the Einstein equations connects smoothly two de Sitter vacua with different values of cosmological constant and corresponds to anisotropic vacuum dark fluid defined by symmetry of its stress-energy tensor which is invariant under the radial boosts. Global structure of space-time is the same as for the de Sitter space-time. Cosmological evolution goes from a big initial value of the cosmological constant towards its presently observed value.

<p class="1Body">A summarization of the Alcubierre metric is given in comparison to a new metric that has been formulated based on the theoretical assertion of a recently published paper entitled “gravitational space-time curve generation via accelerated particles”. The new metric mathematically describes a warp field where particle accelerators can theoretically generate gravitational space-time curves that compress or contract a volume of space-time toward a hypothetical vehicle traveling at a sub-light velocity contingent upon the amount of voltage generated. Einstein’s field equations are derived based on the new metric to show its compatibility to general relativity. The “time slowing” effects of relativistic gravitational time dilation inherent to the gravitational field generated by the particle accelerators is mathematically shown to be counteracted by a gravitational equilibrium point between an arrangement of two equal magnitude particle accelerators. The gravitational equilibrium point produces a volume of flat or linear space-time to which the hypothetical vehicle can traverse the region of contracted space-time without experiencing time slippage. The theoretical warp field possessing these attributes is referred to as the two gravity source warp field which is mathematically described by the new metric.</p>

We suggest that the (small but nonvanishing) cosmological constant, and the holographic properties of gravitational entropy, may both reflect unconventional quantum spin statistics at a fundamental level. This conjecture is motivated by the nonlocality of quantum gravity and the fact that spin is an inherent property of space–time. As an illustration we consider the "quon" model, which interpolates between Fermi and Bose statistics, and show that this can naturally lead to an arbitrarily small cosmological constant. In addition to laboratory tests, we briefly discuss the possible observable imprint on cosmological fluctuations from inflation.

For the first time we present the general formalism and results of calculation of the two-loop effective action in Einstein quantum gravity on the background MN × Tk, where MN is Minkowski space and Tk is a k-dimensional torus. We discuss the case of a zero cosmological constant as well as of a nonzero one. The method of calculating variations of the action on a metric tensor and the technique of calculating momentum integrals in dimensional regularization are presented. Some applications to spontaneous compactification are discussed, as well as some prospects.

We have presented cosmological models in five-dimensional Kaluza-Klein space-time with a variable gravitational constant (G) and cosmological constant (Λ). We have investigated Einstein’s field equations for five-dimensional Kaluza-Klein space-time in the presence of perfect fluid with time dependent G and Λ. A variety of solutions have been found in which G increases and Λ decreases with time t, which matches with current observation. The properties of fluid and kinematical parameters have been discussed in detail.
