The world of telecommunications is being rapidly redefined by the Internet. Longer-term trends show that mobile, networked computers will form the basis of the future of personal communications. Not only is the telephone handset becoming mobile, by defauit, but the boundary between phone and computer is set to disappear. Networks for mobile devices are also changing fast, within the next five years the global mobile network will support megabit rather than the current kilobit connections. In March of 2018, about 500,000 desktop computers were infected with cryptocurrency mining malware in less than 24 hours. In addition to attacking desktop computers, malware also attacks laptops, tablets, mobile phones. That is, any device connected via the Internet, or a network is at risk of being attacked. In recent years, mobile phones have become extremely popular that places them as a big target of malware infections. In this study, the effectiveness of treatment for infected mobile devices is examined using compartmental modeling. Many studies have considered malware infections which also include treatment effectiveness. However, in this study we examine the treatment effectiveness of mobile devices based on the type of malware infections accrued (hostile or malicious malware). This model considers six classes of mobile devices based on their epidemiological status: susceptible, exposed, infected by hostile malware, infected by malicious malware, quarantined, and recovered. The malware reproduction number, RM, was identied to discover the threshold values for the dynamics of malware infections to become both prevalent or absent among mobile devices. Numerical simulations of the model give insights of various strategies that can be implemented to control malware epidemic in a mobile network.

The availability of new mobile devices (tablets and smartphones) equipped with many sensors is changing or, better, enriching the way we monitor and sense the world that surrounds us. The internet has permeated completely not only our scientific and technological development, but also our life. Only some years ago, we used geospatial data and GIS software installed within our computers. Nowadays, data and operators are provided via the net by means of distributed and shared geo-services and a simple and powerless mobile device is enough to connect them. The possibility of interaction has become not only faster and more user friendly but also active, being individuals and communities free of adding, deleting, and changing contents in real time in the new GeoWeb2.0. This chapter explores GeoWeb2.0.

In recent years, mobile phones have become the de facto system of communication across the planet. Mobile phones have helped increase economic growth and critical response in many parts of the world. Mobile phones are even being used for data transmission. However, little academic research has been done on the specific problem of streaming real time video originating from the cameras of mobile devices over cell phone networks. There are many factors that complicate this problem including the limited computational resources of mobile phones, the low and variable bandwidth of cell phone networks, and the need for video compression and streaming algorithms that can be supported by both the mobile phones and cell phone networks. This chapter examines the problems involved and discusses on-going research on the topic. The main goal of this chapter is to identify the real time constraints and challenges of compressing and streaming video from mobile devices for the purpose of designing efficient video compression and streaming techniques that are able to work within the constraints of the limited computational resources and bandwidth available to mobile devices.

5G is a new universal wireless standard, a new form of mobile network engineered to bring everyone and everything virtually together. 5G is not only for mobile phones, but it is also the foundation for virtual reality (VR), the internet of things (IoT), and autonomous driving, connecting many electronic devices to the internet. Having good healthcare is very important as it affects all parts of human life and social well-being. Moreover, it is crucial to have a great healthcare system if we want economic growth, workforce productivity, and society to advance. Despite all the hard work done by scientists and medical professionals, today's healthcare is mainly inefficient, and a significant overhaul is required. This chapter discusses the primary advantages, including the 5G's main features in healthcare and their limitations and probable solutions and applications to the latest scenario.

We are in the era of Industry 4.0 with the world going towards everything, everywhere, and anytime with “things” being enablers of technology. Our world is becoming smarter with everything (mobile phones, cars, TVs) connected to each, having unique addresses and communication mechanisms. It is foreseen that by 2025 every little thing, like pen, paper, food packages, etc., would be operated over the internet by internet of things (IoT) towards a smarter world. However, in order to enable the smart world to be sustainable, IoT should be embarking into energy efficient (green) paradigms. Since IoT is also a key enabler for smart cities, a green-aware design of smart cities could see a potential to create a green IoT ecosystem for smart cities. This ecosystem would comprise the green IoT lifecycle, the six pillars of smart cities, and focusing on the green infrastructure, green applications, and green energy. This conceptual study would motivate researchers embarking into smart city projects and keeping green concepts intact in their design and implementations.

Dual-SIM mobile phones utilize technology that permits the use of two SIMs at a time. The technology permits simultaneous access to the mobile network services. Its disruptive nature is with reference to the mobile phone market in Nigeria and other parts of the world. Earlier market trend was inclination to “newer” and “better” phones, in favour of established single-SIM mobile phone manufacturers like Nokia and Samsung. Introduction of dual-SIM phones mainly manufactured by Chinese mobile phone manufacturing firms propelled user preference for phones acquisition which permits dual and simultaneous access to mobile network. This technology has compelled its adoption by established manufacturing names in order that they may remain competitive. It is a clear case of a disruptive technology, and this chapter focuses on it need, effects, and disruptive nature.

The explosion of information in the World Wide Web is overwhelming for readers with limitless information. Large internet articles or journals are often cumbersome to read as well as comprehend. More often than not, readers are immersed in a pool of information with limited time to assimilate all of the articles. As technology advances, it becomes more convenient to access information on-the-go, i.e., portability of information by utilizing mobile devices. In this research, a semantic and syntatic based summarization is implemented in a text summarizer to solve the information overload problem whilst providing a more coherent summary. The objective is to integrate WordNet into the proposed system aka TextSumIt which condenses lengthy documents into summarized text. The empirical experiments show that it produces satisfactory preliminary results on Android mobile phones.

Abstract. This work focuses on the analysis of the use of Twitter by different weather services around the world. During the last few years the availability of mobile phones connected to the Internet has become a global reality. Likewise, the use of different social networks has been popularized and extended with different purposes including social communication. In this context most meteorological weather services have been using some of these social tools in order to improve their services for the general public and specific users. Twitter is a social tool that enables users to post messages (tweets) of up to 280 characters (up to 140 before November 2017), supporting a wide variety of communicative practices. Twitter is an opportunity not only to spread messages without intermediaries, but also interact in real time with users. Here we present a study of different aspects related to the use of Twitter in diverse weather services worldwide and their evolution during the year 2016.
