English Education students are prepared to be English teachers as one of the sources in learning activity. However, the students still mispronounced some words including ones which contain inert letters. This study aimed to find out the most frequent errors made by the English Education Students in pronouncing inert letters and the factors of the inert letters’ pronunciation errors. This study was a descriptive study which applied quantitative and qualitative approaches. The subjects of this study were 25 students of the English Education Study Program at Universitas Bengkulu. This study used recording, observation checklist, and interview as the instruments. Recording and observation checklists were used to gather subjects’ pronunciation. In order to find the factors of the pronunciation errors, an interview was conducted.  The pronunciation was analysed by using pronunciation checkers, Voice Notebook and Audacity. The interview results were analysed based on factors of pronunciation accuracy. The results showed that the most frequent errors of inert letters pronunciation made by the subjects were sounded inert letter /d/ of /-nd/ by 94% and silent inert letter /a/ of /-cal-/ by 88%. The interview generated some data which shows that the factors of subjects’ pronunciation errors were native language, age, and amount of exposure to English.

This research emphasized the problems of speaking ability in English among students of English Education Study Program in Muhammadiyah Luwuk University. This type of research was descriptive qualitative. In this research, the researcher used interview as instrument to find out the problems faced by the students in speaking English. From the results of the research, the researcher found the main problems faced by the students were limitations on vocabulary, errors in pronunciation, and incorrect grammar. In addition, the students also got anxiety when they speak in English and they embarrassed when they speak incorrectly, and they are still affected by their native language until they have problems in speaking English.Keywords: Speaking; Speaking Problems.

The objectives of this study were (1) to describe the students’ Reading habit, multiple intelligences, and writing mastery, (2) to find out whether or not there was significant correlation among the students’ Reading habit, multiple intelligences, and writing mastery, and (3) to find out whether or not the students’ Reading habit and multiple intelligences contributed to their writing mastery. In this study, 76 undergraduate EFL students of English Education Study Program of Sriwijaya University in the academic year 2017/2018 were chosen as a samples by means of purposive sampling. This study applied correlational research design. The data were collected by using questionnaires and test, and were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment correlation coefficient and regression analysis. The results showed that (1) most of the students (50%)  were in the average level of reading habit; most of the students (15.7%) had six dominant intelligences; most of the students (57.8%) were in the good level of writing mastery; (2) reading attitude was the only habit which had a negative and significant correlation to the students’ writing mastery (r= -271, p< 0.018); reading attitude also had positive and negative and significant correlation to the students’ ideas  (r= 0.367, p< 0.001) and thesis voice audience (r= -0.236, p=< 0.040); logical intelligence was the only intelligence which had negative and significant correlation to the students’ writing mastery (r= -0.238, p= 0.038); ideas was the only the aspect of writing had a positive  and significant correlation to the students’ logical intelligence (r= 0.267, p= 0.020) and intrapersonal intelligence (r= 0.250, p= 0.029); (3) reading attitude became the best predictor and influenced the students’ writing mastery with 7.3% contribution (R2 = 0.073).

This research is aimed to find the most frequent type of discourse markers used in the argumentative essay and the differences in its use written by the first, third, and fifth semester students of English Education study program of Universitas Bengkulu. The documentation technique and checklist are used in this research. Thirty two argumentative essays written by English Education Study Program’s students were analyzed by using mix method quantitative and qualitative, along with descriptive approach. The results showed that the most frequent type of discourse markers used by English Education students is additive markers (58%). And the students have different amount of discourse markers in their writing where the third semester students used more discourse markers than the other two group of students (148). It is highly encouraged for English Education instructors to take teaching discourse markers specifically into account. It is also suggested for future researchers to further analyze the correct use of discourse markers in the argumentative essay written by English Education Study Program students of Universitas Bengkulu.

This study aims to determine the level of ability and describe the constraints of mathematics education students in making a learning implementation design with a problem based learning model. This type of research is descriptive exploratory with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The research population was all students in the 7th semester of the mathematics education study program, which were divided into 3 classes, namely classes A, B, and C. Sample of this study were 7 students who PLP courses. The results showed that there were 9 aspects of the learning implementation design assessment that would be assessed on 7 students. The average percentage of the 9 aspects assessed by researchers was 72.67% and those assessed by teachers were 73.67%, both of which were in the good category.

<p>In the current pandemic situation, reaching the goals of learners’ speaking skill fluently and accurately are not enough only determined by the lecturers’ strategy but also learners’ enthusiasm to use appropriate speaking learning strategy. The presents study aimed to identify what speaking learning strategy used by the learners, different strategies used by learners’ who are having low and high achievement, and then the dominant strategy employed by the learners. The study applied descriptive study, then the participants were 50 third semester students, chosen from 5 classes of English education study program of IKIP PGRI Pontianak. The tools of collecting data, the participants were asked to fill a questionnaire and to do a speaking test. The findings revealed all strategies almost used by the learners to develop their speaking skill, meanwhile the different strategies used by the students who are having low and high achievement are found in frequency of use the strategies and varieties of strategy in learning speaking skill. From the six strategies of learning speaking skill, as indicated in this study, the dominant strategy which have been employed by the learners is afektif strategy.</p><p> </p>

The objectives of this study were to find out: (1) the social media which is the most frequently used by the English Education Study Program students, (2) the correlation between the use of social media and academic writing mastery of the students, and (3) the contribution between the use of social media and academic writing mastery of the students. Thirty five students were chosen as the sample by using purposive sampling method. The data were collected through questionnaire and documentation. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to analyze the obtained data. Code mixing has become a bilingual communication trend that is widely applied by the community in social interactions, especially Indonesian society and students. The method that used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were English education students who had different ethnic backgrounds and areas of origin. The researcher focused on student utterances that contained by code mixing in the communication. This study aimed to know students' opinions about the implementations of asynchronous learning (Screencast-O-Matic and Google-Form apps) during COVID-19, to identify the advantages and disadvantages were produced by these devices, as well as to analyze how big the students' confidence on this type of learning when implemented in the rural area. The subject of this study consisted of 45 respondents from the English education study program. They spread in the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8thsemester. Qualitative descriptive students were used in this study. Among the questionnaire, open-ended questions and interviews were the methods to collect the data. The results of this study indicated these platforms had shown various obstacles. Over half of respondents criticize that limited internet access was one of the most significant restrictions when implementing asynchronous learning (Screencast-O-Matic and Google-Form apps). Although Screencast-O-Matic and Google-Form had some barriers in their virtual class, they provide more advantages. Many respondents believed they have all these advantages compared to the limits. The majority of respondents argued that it facilitated EFL students to increase acquisitions of language software that could contribute to students' ICT capabilities in particular.

This is qualitative research that applied discourse analysis method. The objectives of this research are to clarify (1) the dominant praise used by the English teachers in the classroom interaction and (2) the function of praise given by the English teachers in the classroom interaction. The informants of this research were two students of English Education Study Program who took Pengenalan Lingkungan Persekolahan Program (PLP).The data were collected by using audio recording and note observation. The results of the research show that (1) the teachers dominantly use okay and good in giving Praise and (2) the functions of the praise are given by both of teachers as: to construct the good communication, to support positive learning behavior, to reward good students conduct and achievement and to express approval, admiration and delight during the teaching-learning process. The result also shows that both of teachers still have limited expression in giving praise.
