This study uses descriptive qualitative research with case study approach, according to Kumar (1999), a case study is an approach to examine social phenomena through the analysis of individual cases completely and accurately, as well as providing an analysis of intensive than many specific details that are often overlooked by Other research methods. Meanwhile, according to Pollit and Hungler (1999) interpret the case study as a research method that uses in-depth analysis, which is done carefully and completely to an individual, family, group, institution, or other social units. The results showed interest in learning PGSD students on the course the basic concepts of science is low, the study documentation on the midtest course the basic concepts of science and interviews explaining there are several factors that affect low interest student learning is the educational background of students, the ability of lecturers, weight and material science courses basic concepts, means of supporting lectures and lecture schedule.

Abstract This paper investigates the basic risk and incentives relationship in franchising companies. The results of past research reflect volatile influence of risk and incentives. An in-depth analysis of this relationship was conducted using case study approach, including 12 international franchise firms of two types. Our study included retail and service franchising. Findings from this research confirm basic agency theory predictions. The risk-incentives relationship is negatively correlated in retail franchise companies, due to lower royalties in the sector. Service franchise companies do not follow the same concept, due to their adaptability of franchise system to local markets. We believe service franchise systems might be responsible for volatility. However, both types of companies nurture and develop strategies based on experience and intuition. Findings of the research offer important insights in understanding the nature of franchisor’s risk perception, as the basic underlying mechanism to the risk and incentives relationship.

Using a case study approach, this article explores the benefits of leveraging human readiness levels (HRLs) in conjunction with Human Systems Integration (HSI). The U.S. Army’s HSI program emphasizes front-end planning and emphasizes the use of soldier feedback to maximize influence on system design; however, it does not provide the methods by which this should be accomplished nor does it specify the metrics or measures for assessing the progress. This case study applies HRLs to an army software modernization program and provides an in-depth analysis of the HSI activities performed and the extent to which they addressed each question in the HRL scales.

AbstractTo enhance the success of innovations, various methods for foresight have been developed. Automatization yields the potential of shifting effort away from the process to the actual in-depth analysis of resulting scenarios in scenario-technique. Within this paper, an approach based on a user-specific classification of input factors (consistency values) is presented. Generic consistency patterns used for a semi-automatized consistency assessment based on artificial neural networks are identified using a case study approach. Hereby, the effort for scenario-technique can be reduced significantly.

Early Childhood Education (PAUD) receives enormous attention from the government, because preparing the next generation needs to pay attention to how to foster children from an early age. One method of learning for young children that is fun and interesting is Beyond Centers and Circle Time (BCCT) or better known as the Center Method. The purpose of this study was to analyze the Obstacles and Solution of Beyond Centers and Circle Time (BCCT) Implementation in TK ABA 2 Banjarmasin. However, this method has not been widely applied in South Kalimantan Province, especially in Banjarmasin. TK Aisiyah Busthanul Athfal (ABA) 2 in Banjarmasin is the first kindergarten that has implemented in Banjarmasin. Therefore, this qualitative research was conducted with a case study approach, to explore the TK ABA 2 Kindergarten Banjarmasin process so that they could use BCCT, as well as the problems and solutions they had faced so that they could be input for other schools who wanted to also use this method. The principle and six teachers were interviewed to get information about the case. TK ABA 2 Banjarmasin started implementing BCCT in 2013. There are a number of things that need to be prepared, including preparing teachers especially in terms of educational background and center preparation including the availability of toys in each center. Obstacles can be resolved if all stake holders are dedicated to implement BCCT.

An ethnographic case study approach to understanding women’s actions and reactions to husbands’ emigration—or potential emigration—offers a distinct set of challenges to a U.S.-based researcher.  International migration research in a foreign context likely offers challenges in language, culture, lifestyle, as well as potential gender norm impediments. A mixed methods approach contributed to successfully overcoming barriers through an array of research methods, strategies, and tactics, as well as practicing flexibility in data gathering methods. Even this researcher’s influence on the research was minimized and alleviated, to a degree, through ascertaining common ground with many of the women. Research with the women of San Juan Guelavía, Oaxaca, Mexico offered numerous and constant challenges, each overcome with ensuing rewards.

Self-stigma experienced by people who experience schizophrenia has influence on reduced self-esteem, on powerlessness, the weakening of hope, and a motivation towards recovery. The aim of this study is to explain the efforts of people suffering schizophrenia to manage their self-stigma through self-control, using a case study approach. Based on the purposive sampling technique, five people with schizophrenia were selected as the cases to be studied. Data collection techniques utilized in-depth interviews, observation, and documentary studies. The analysis of the study data employed the stages of data reduction, data display, and data verification. Improvement in study quality employed the triangulation of data sources by checking the data to determine its consistency. The results of this study indicate that people with schizophrenia who have the ability to self-control can overcome self-stigma through changes in the manner of viewing themselves, self-training through activities, having endurance, having an honest approach, being able to explain schizophrenia from a positive viewpoint, having initiative, and having a positive attitude and the courage to face challenges.
