Analysis of Factors Affecting Fraudulent Financial Reporting with Independent Commissioners as Moderation Variable

Objective - This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of pressure, opportunity, rationalization, ability and arrogance on fraudulent financial reporting with independent commissioners as the moderating variable. Methodology/Technique - The object of this research is all companies listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange during 2019. The research sample was obtained through purposive sampling method and resulted in 215 companies. The analysis technique used is multiple regression analysis and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). Findings - The results show that pressure, opportunity, rationalization, ability and arrogance had a significant effect on fraudulent financial reporting. The results of the moderation regression analysis show that independent commissioners moderate the effect of pressure and arrogance on fraudulent financial reporting. Meanwhile, independent commissioners did not moderate opportunities, rationalization, and capacity for fraudulent financial reporting. Novelty - This research contributes to the pentagon fraud theory, which proves that the elements contained in this theory can be used as a basis for analyzing fraud committed by companies, and contributing to the company so that the company's internal control is improved and the presence of an independent board of commissioners is not only a fulfillment of the company's internal control. regulations made by the IDX. This study aims to determine the effect of pentagon fraud’s theory in detecting fraudulent financial reporting empirical studies on companies in property and real estate sector in Indonesia listed on the Stock Exchange in 2014-2018. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with the final sample of 18 companies. Data analysis used in this research is logistic regression analysis. The result of this research showed that : Pressure (ROA), Opportunity (BDOUT), Competence (DCHANGE) and Arogance (CEOPIC) have no significant effect on fraudulent financial reporting. While the Rationalization (Change of Auditor) has a significant effect on fraudulent financial reporting.

This research was conducted at banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the period 2013-2017, which were 42 companies. The sampling technique in this study was taken based on non probability sampling method with purposive sampling technique so as to produce a sample of 32 companies. The data analysis technique used in this study was moderated regression analysis. Based on the results of the analysis it was found that capital adequacy has a positive effect on profitability, credit distribution has a positive effect on profitability and firm size has a positive effect on profitability. The results of this study also show that credit risk is not able to weaken the influence of capital adequacy and lending to profitability and credit risk is able to weaken the influence of company size on profitability. Bonds provide a rating signal for the issuer and investors of the ability to pay off a bond. This study aims to explain the factors that affect the ranking in terms of accounting and non-accounting aspects. This study uses all corporate bonds actively traded on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) and are denominated in rupiah as of December 31, 2019, sourced from Bloomberg, which consists of 996 companies. The method in the sample is the purposive sampling method. This sample consists of 35 companies with 111 bonds, testing the hypothesis using ordinal logistic regression analysis with SPSS Version 25.0 data processing tools. The results showed that liquidity had a positive effect on bond ratings, activity does not affect bond ratings, leverage, profitability, maturity, and auditor reputation have a negative effect on bond ratings.

The capital market in Indonesia is currently growing, so that competition between companies is increasing. The company will try to increase the value of the company in order to attract investors to invest in the company. Management realizes that attention investors tend to only focus on profit, so managers are encouraged to practice income smoothing. This study aims to obtain empirical evidence of the influence of firm value, firm size and profitability on income smoothing practices in banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2016-2018 periode. The number of samples selected in banking companies is as many as 31 companies, using the purposive sampling method. The data analysis technique used is a logistic regression analysis and the results showed that the firm value and firm size had a positive effect on income smoothing practices, while the profitability did not effect the income smoothing practice. ABSTRACT        This study aimed to examine and analyze the executive characters, profitability, leverage and independent commissioners on tax avoidance, and the effect of character executive, profitability, leverage and independent commissioners on tax avoidance with institutional ownership as a moderating variable. The population in this study is the Manufacturing Companies in the Industrial Consumer Goods Sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2014-2018. The sample in this study is only 100 companies that passed in the sample criteria. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling method. The analytical method is using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results showed that executive character had negative effect on tax avoidance, profitability had no effect on tax avoidance, leverage had an effect on tax avoidance, and independent commissioners had no effect on tax avoidance. And also, institutional ownership can strengthen the moderation between character executive with tax avoidance, institutional ownership can weaken the moderation between profitability with tax avoidance, institutional ownership can weaken the moderation between leverage with tax avoidance. ABSTRAK        Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji dan menganalisis karakter eksekutif, profitabilitas, leverage, komisaris independen terhadap tax avoidance, serta pengaruh dari karakter eksekutif, profitabilitas, leverage terhadap tax avoidance dengan kepemilikan institusional sebagai variabel moderasi. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu Perusahaan Manufaktur Sektor Industri Barang Konsumsi yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) tahun 2014-2018. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 100 perusahaan yang lolos dalam kriteria sampel. Metode analisis yang digunakan yaitu Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakter eksekutif berpengaruh terhadap tax avoidance, profitabilitas dan komisaris independen tidak berpengaruh terhadap tax avoidance, leverage berpengaruh terhadap tax avoidance. Kepemilikan institusional dapat memperkuat moderasi antara pengaruh karakter eksekutif dengan tax avoidance, kepemilikan institusional dapat memperlemah moderasi antara profitabilitas dan leverage dengan tax avoidance. This research measuresfraudulent financial statement  quality by using M-Beneish Score.  Data in this research are analyzedusing logistic binary regression analysis. Analysis tool used by this research is IBM SPSS Statistics 23program. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of asset structure, managerial ownership, and income variability on the company's capital structure (DER). This research was conducted at manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) for the 2017- 2019 period. The population in this study were 181 companies, using the purposive sampling method the research sample was obtained as many as 46 manufacturing companies. The data analysis technique used in this research is panel data regression analysis technique with Eviews version 11 as a tool. Based on the research results, it is found that the asset structure has no effect on the capital structure. Managerial ownership has a positive and significant effect on capital structure. The problem in this study is the company's profit which is very important for the company because it is the company's main goal.  The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the variables of sales growth , cash turnover and liquidity on profitability in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2017-2019. The population in this study amounted to 180 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2017-2019. The sampling method used is purposive sampling, with a research sample of 27 companies for 2017-2019, so the research sample data is 81. The data collection technique is to download financial reports from the www.idx.co.id site. The data analysis technique used in this study used multiple regression analysis. The results of the study partially show that sales growth variable has no significant effect on profitability, but the cash turnover and liquidity variables have a partial and significant effect on the company's profitability. Simultaneously sales growth, cash turnover and liquidity have a positive and significant effect on profitability.

This study aims to determine the effect of managerial ownership and institutional ownership on dividend policy with free cash flow as a moderating variable. This research was conducted at manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) in 2015-2019. The sample was selected by means of a purposive sampling method with 42 companies as samples and 210 observations. The analysis technique used in this research is Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results of this study indicate that the higher the managerial ownership, the higher the dividend policy, especially in companies that have high free cash flow, and the higher the institutional ownership, the higher the dividend policy, especially in companies with high free cash flow.
