Background: April 21, 2021 marks the centenary of the birth of Irina N. Blokhina – a world-famous scientist, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Laureate of the USSR State Prize, and Honorary Citizen of the city of Nizhny Novgorod. For 44 years, Dr. Blokhina headed the Nizhny Novgorod (Gorky) Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. The objective of this paper is to reflect and analyze the historical role of the personality in the development of new research areas, achievement of outstanding scientific results, and education of younger generations of scientists on the example of the life path of Dr. Blokhina, whose name is associated with the most productive times in the history of the institute. Materials and methods: In preparing the present article, we analyzed extensive archival materials, scientific and media publications, and memoirs of contemporaries. Findings: We describe how the breadth of scientific outlook of this eminent scientist, her deep and comprehensive erudition, and a constant thirst for new knowledge allowed her to see and effectively solve the most pressing problems of fundamental science and practical health care. Professor Blokhina devoted her entire life to medical science by developing priority science trends in biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, biotechnology, and molecular biology. Conclusions: The personality of Academician Irina N. Blokhina demonstrates how purposefulness, creative attitude to assigned tasks, and a high degree of responsibility enable a person to achieve top results in science and life. Our findings may be particularly useful in education of the younger generation of scientists.

The currently observed development of medical science results from the constant search for innovative solutions to improve the health and quality of life of patients. Particular attention is focused on the design of a new generation of materials with a high degree of biocompatibility and tolerance towards the immune system. In addition, apart from biotolerance, it is important to ensure appropriate mechanical and technological properties of materials intended for intra-body applications. Knowledge of the above parameters becomes the basis for considerations related to the possibilities of choosing the appropriate polymer materials. The researchers' interest, as evidenced by the number of available publications, is attracted by nanobiocomposites based on chitosan and carbon nanotubes, which, due to their properties, enable integration with the tissues of the human body. Nanosystems can be used in many areas of medicine. They constitute an excellent base for use as dressing materials, as they exhibit antimicrobial properties. In addition, they can be carriers of drugs and biological macromolecules and can be used in gene therapy, tissue engineering, and construction of biosensors. For this reason, potential application areas of chitosan-carbon nanotube nanocomposites in medical sciences are presented in this publication, considering the characteristics of the system components.

A major, unique accounting archival source, the R.J. Chambers Collection comprises both hard copy and, utilizing cutting-edge search technology, internet accessible materials. From his academic beginnings, Chambers was an orderly person, an archivist of the extensive and varied evidence that underpinned his proposals for accounting reform. Opening research areas for accounting biography, the development of accounting thought, the history of accounting institutions, prosopography, public sector accounting history, and comparative international accounting history are foremost amongst the myriad justifications for seeking to unravel the accounting history “lodes” in archives such as the Goldberg, Chambers, and Briloff Collections [Potter, 2003]. The archiving of the meticulously kept Chambers papers from 1947–1999 provides an opportunity for unfolding the background to events previously withheld from accounting history scholars. Professional episodes in relation to inflation accounting, standard setting, proposals to reform accounting education, and the like that appeared prima facie to be worth investigating are now open to scrutiny from a different angle, with a different type of evidence available in this Collection. This Collection provides a high degree of archival provenance. In particular, it represents an orderly retention of past documentation of what Chambers wrote, and perhaps uniquely for accounting historians, received; thus, providing an extensive window from which to examine the disorderly present environment of acounting.

The article presents the most important stages of Fersman’s biography. Alexander Evgenievich Fersman was a recognized expert in mineralogy, crystallography and geochemistry. In 1919, at the age of 35, Fersman became an academician of the Academy of Sciences. From 1926 to 1929 he was a vice-president of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Fersman’s personal fund is kept in the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Life choices and the fi professional success are shown on the basis of documents from the personal fund. Fersman crossed the path from a youthful interest in gems (morphology, structure, chemical composition) to the realization of his scientifi potential as the head of the major research projects. Fersman was awarded the Lenin Prize (1929), USSR State Prize (1942), Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1943) and Wollaston Medal of the Geological Society of London (1943). Particular attention is paid to the work of A.E. Fersman's assessment and attribution of precious stones from the Diamond Fund. Fersman led a special commission and carried out the mission with great enthusiasm. Having studied physicochemical properties of stones he provided the necessary information and reports. Also, he studied the historical and cultural context of jewelry making. Aft the commission completed its work, Fersman had a variety of documents on the history of gems. A.E. Fersman was pleased to share the results of his work. He was actively engaged in the popularization of scientifi knowledge. His books reveal the amazing world of gems and enable an examination of the evolution of the scientist's views. In addition to biographical information, unique visual documents are presented. Th are papers and photographs from the Fersman’s personal fund.

The study focuses on such lines of modern understanding of history as the creation of “living history” in the modern museum complexes, recreation of past historical events in documentary maximum proximity to the time of their occurrence. This way of understanding history was inspired by many unresolved problems of the past interpretations and the author’s opinions, and devoid of the human factor documents of the archives, which failed to rise to objective conclusions. Time raised the question about the basis of psychological factor for the interpretation of historical events. The object of the research was the study of local history, ethnographic museums, which stimulate visitors in special units or in museum complexes and, of course, researchers to model the life of the historical past [4]. The doors of the museums open; the story goes into the current life, but certainly in a confined space. They develop new research areas as historical tourism that supports political culture, on the one hand, and historical psychology, working directly on the quality of historical research, and the penetration into the human factor in the historical process on the other hand. The difference between historical tourism from the traditional Ethnography is that Ethnography adheres to the locality of the historical information, which is specific to the region. Moreover, historic tourism builds ties that are committed to the integrity of national history. Of course, along with the tourist places of historical content there is historical re-enactment animation and drama, that are increasingly popular nowadays; “bridge” to the reconstruction of historical events is panoramic complexes, which are also included in tourist routes. The relevance of the stated themes of the study is that the political culture of the Russians (and it is based primarily on historical knowledge) must not be focused only on bookish knowledge of history, but also on the history in action – here is tourism of the historical themes and dramatization of historical events.
