STEM teaching and learning (T&L) has been introduced through the implementation of the Secondary School Standard Curriculum (KSSM) launched in 2017. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the challenges encounter by 128 science teachers implementing STEM T&L in secondary schools in Kota Kinabalu. The instrument used was Soal Selidik Aspek Pelaksanaan (SSAP) which contains 14 items. The collected data were analyzed by using the SPSS version 24.0 software. Descriptive analysis indicated that 63.8% of respondents agreed that the main challenge of implementing STEM T&L is teachers’ readiness. Further, research findings indicated that the challenge in implementing STEM T&L was at a moderate level (M = 3.43, SD = .395). Therefore, immediate action should be taken to overcome the challenges to ensure the STEM T&L can be implemented effectively.

The study established that rural day secondary school science teachers face a number of challenges, including inadequate teaching and learning materials, students’ negative attitudes towards science, conflicts between students’ home background and school science, and absence of science teachers’ associations. These challenges could have a direct impact on the teaching and learning of science in rural day secondary schools. The opening of rural day secondary schools in Zimbabwe was a great challenge in terms of providing science education to all students because the newly opened secondary schools did not have conventional laboratories and equipment that would facilitate the teaching and learning of science. This study sought to find out the challenges faced by rural day secondary school science teachers in Gweru district of Zimbabwe and propose a way forward. Questionnaires, interviews and observations were used to collect data pertaining to the challenges that were faced by the teachers.

This research is aimed at investigating the readiness of History subject teachers in teaching and learning with the help of i-Think mind maps at secondary schools in the district of Setiu, Terengganu. The amount of sample chosen is 59 History teachers from secondary schools which consists of trained teachers without taking into account their specialisation. As a whole, the research findings show that respondents have a high readiness level in implementing their teaching and learning process with the help of i-Think mind maps in secondary schools. The findings also show that there is a difference in teacher readiness between history teacher and non-history teacher and between those that went to courses and those who did not. Furthermore, there is a difference in the attitude, skill and usage level of i-Think mind maps in teachers that are experienced and those less experienced. However, research findings for experienced and less-experienced teachers showed that there are no significant differences in the level of knowledge on the concept of i-Think mind maps.

This article describes policy and practice issues surrounding the training of intending music teachers in England. It tells of how there has been governmental regulation, and ministerial interference, in many aspects of this, from numbers entering the profession, to the nature of what is actually taught and learned in secondary school classrooms. Building on research evidence, it then goes on to describe how there are a number of aspects of teaching and learning which are contentious, and which can have an exclusory function. Finally, it suggests that an international audience may have much to learn from this situation.

The rise of technology has influenced the education field much. It creates the popularity of online material which can help students in the teaching and learning process. One of it is a web comic, a comic or cartoon published on the internet for everyone to view can be a unique gateway medium to explore visual narrative or story. It is one of the online materials which can attract students especially teenager to read and comprehend the message without feeling bored and realize that they study English. This study aimed to find out whether using Islamic Web Comics is effective in teaching English especially reading comprehension at Islamic secondary school in the Indonesian context. This study is a quasi-experimental with pretest and posttest design; two homogenous groups were selected as experimental and control group. Descriptive analysis and Independent t-test were used for analyzing the data obtained. The result showed that the mean score of the post-test score of the experimental class was 70.88 and control class was 64.69. It was obtained that t-test result was 2.26 higher (2.26 >1.99). It means Islamic Web Comics as visual aid was more effective in teaching English especially reading comprehensions than animated video presentation.

The study entitled 'Constraints in English Language Teaching and Learning in Senior Secondary Schools: Strategies for Implementation' seeks to unravel the myriad of problems in teaching and learning the English Language in senior secondary schools and offers strategies that can be implemented to salvage the situation. Learning to teach is more than simply knowing the results of research and theory; it always involves learning the ‘craft’ of classroom exposition, explanation, organization, and guidance. The desired outcome of the language learning process is the ability to communicate competently, not the ability to the ability to use the language exactly as a native speaker does. To guide the study, three research questions were posed. The questions examined the following three variables: (1) the constraints in teaching English; (2) the constraints in learning English; and (3) strategies for implementation in senior secondary schools. The research will be carried out in two senior secondary schools in Kenema City, Eastern Sierra Leone (Government Senior Secondary School and Methodist Senior Secondary School). The study revealed that: the lack of adequate teaching and learning materials, poor pedagogical and academic subject matter competency, and the negative attitude of students towards the English Language, account for the major constraints in the teaching and learning of the subject.

The aim of this research is to examine the perceptions of technology-based learning and teaching in the science courses of secondary school students. This research sample is made up of 396 students studying in the eighth grade of seven secondary schools in the center of Kars, Turkey. This research includes a case study design. As a data collection tool, an important technical drawing is used in the literature of science education to reveal the mental approaches of individuals against facts and events. Data are analysed through drawing analysis. This research reveals three key conclusions. First, it is understood that the perception of students in the eighth grade of secondary schools for the use of technology in existing science courses is largely composed of smart boards. Second, it is understood that the technological systems that students demand in science courses should be designed specifically in a way that they can use independently. Third, it has shown that smart boards among the technological systems are largely in the grip of science teachers, but students are not able to use these technological systems adequately in the courses. This research intended to explore the challenges in inculcating Islamic values among teachers in selected private secondary schools in the Klang Valley. It aimed to investigate the teachers’ perception in inculcating Islamic values in schools. The questionnaire was distributed to 145 teachers from three private Islamic secondary schools in the Klang Valley, namely Al-Amin secondary school, International Islamic Secondary (IIS) School and ADNI Islamic Secondary School. A 5-point Likert scale was used to measure the teachers’ perception about the inculcating Islamic values in schools. Descriptive analysis (frequencies and percentages), were utilized in this study. The findings showed that most of the teachers in the three schools in the Klang Valley perceived that they are not inculcating Islamic values into their teaching. The researcher suggested that future research should include additional Islamic schools to compare their methods of teaching Islamic studies, which can also include universities.

Natural Sciences learning laboratory activities are an integral part of teaching and learning activities, This shows how important the role of laboratory activities to achieve the goals of science education. Through laboratory activities, students will be given the opportunity to encourage curiosity and the desire to try, test and reason the theories obtained. The purpose of this study was to analyze the management of a science laboratory in SMP Negeri 4 Sojol. The research method uses qualitative methods and descriptive analysis. The research subjects were the head of the laboratory and the science subject teacher and the students at SMP Negeri 4 Sojol. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and student learning outcomes.  Based on the results of the study, the availability of natural science practicum tools in SMP Negeri 4 Sojol, the average availability of practical tools and materials 68.33% classified as complete categories, the average presentation of the feasibility of practical tools and materials 90.67% included in the excellent category based on the Ministry of Education number 24 of 2007. the effectiveness of practicum implementation in SMP Negeri 4 Sojol is classified as effective category with an average presentation of practicum at 85%. Coupled with an average increase in cognitive competencies average preetest 58 increase in posttest by as much as 87 in addition to the average value of competence in the areas of psychomotor average preetest obtained 60 and posttest 90 showed a significant increase competency knowledge and skills of learners. Success in the cognitive domain will also have a positive impact on the development of the psychomotor domain (skills) of students. Management of laboratory facilities and infrastructure planning in improving the quality of learning in schools must be planned by the head of the laboratory, planning science teachers by preparing learning tools and identifying the subject matter to be practiced in the laboratory, laboratory administration governance supported by good organization from the leadership of policy makers in school. Implementation of laboratory facilities and infrastructure management in improving the quality of learning in schools including procurement, inventory, storage, structuring, use, and maintenance. Supervision carried out by the principal is in accordance with the provisions, to be more efficient the school should make a program or schedule of supervision processes to be more controlled and run well and smoothly.
