Chapter 4 covers how the government and women’s organizations in Liberia responded to violence against women. It explains that prior to the conflict, violence against women was largely absent from the agenda of governments and women’s organizations, despite their involvement in international advocacy around this issue. Both domestic and international pressure on governments was low during this period and specialized mechanisms to address VAW were non-existent in the criminal justice sector. The chapter describes how the 14-year conflict changed this and generated strong international and domestic pressures on post-conflict governments to strengthen the criminal justice sector response to violence against women, particularly sexual violence, and to establish specialized criminal justice sector mechanisms.

Public services in recent years become a central issue has forced all parties, both state and public institutions to perform again in its implementation regulations. Although the provision of public services is an obligation that must be done by the government as the organizer of the state. However, the obligation to provide such services are still not able to give satisfaction to the user community. To realize good governance requires the synergistic partnership between agencies both within and outside the government bureaucracy. The agencies include the private sector and civil society. Partnerships must be built in an environment that is transparent, which is built with good communication, especially in any decision-making. This meant that the policies are formulated to meet the expectations of society. Thus, the partnership between government, communities and businesses are expected to promote the establishment of governance, development and public services more democratic and more professional. AbstractBecoming an Indonesian Migrant Worker is one solution to reduce unemployment at home. But this has instead become a new problem. This relates to the lack of protection from the government due to the lack of coordination between the government and the private sector as a party that bridges Indonesian Migrant Workers and Employers. This is because of the many problems in the Placement Agreement. This is also because the Laws that have been made by the Central Government do not immediately have new implementation rules in accordance with what was promised. The purpose of this research is to find out and analyze what sanctions will be obtained by the Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Company if the Placement Agreement is not carried out also whether it is permissible if Indonesian Migrant Workers can work if it is not in accordance with their placement. To answer these problems, the authors use legal research with a Conceptual Approach, and Case Approach, and Case Study. Keywords: Indonesian Migrant Worker; Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Company; Placement Company.

This paper explores the failure of women’s organizations to effect the improvement of the status of Jordanian women during the Arab Spring. Through an examination of the regime’s political liberalization strategy, leadership failures within women’s organizations, and international donor influence on programmatic focus, the underlying explanation for this failure is found to be rooted in the historical depoliticization of women in Jordan. This is tested in the context of the Arab Spring through an analysis of the results of popular protests, proposed electoral law reforms, and efforts to amend the Jordanian constitution. The paper draws in part on a large collection of interviews and a focus group conducted in Jordan during the spring/summer of 2012, as well as analysis of primary documents from the government and a variety of women’s organizations in Jordan.
