scholarly journals Decision Support System for Exemplary Teacher Selection in Elementary School using Topsis Method

Teacher is one of the most important components owned by school in sustaining life. It is a challenge for the management of educational institutions to be able to provide an appropriate, effective and efficient decision in data management in the competitive business world. It spurs schools to strive harder in improving the quality of the school. Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is a method that has a concept where the best selected alternative not only has the shortest distance from a ideal positive solution. But also has the longest distance from a ideal negative solution. The criteria used in this system vary, according to the selection of the best teachers provided by the institution. The applicant's score data that has been entered into the system will be calculated using TOPSIS method, by finding the farthest and closest distance from the positive and ideal negative solutions. Applicants with the highest v score will occupy the top of this system. Based on the results of the sample case selection shows that the results of calculations using the same system with manual calculations. This system is able to provide the best teacher recommendations.

The efficient vehicle procurement is an important business segment of different companies with their own vehicle fleet. It has a significant influence on reducing transport and maintenance costs and on increasing the fleet’s energy efficiency. It is indispensable that managers consider various criteria from several aspects when procuring a vehicle. In that sense, we defined 13 relevant criteria and divided them into four multidisciplinary aspects: Construction-technical, financial, operational, and environmental. Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory-Based Analytic Network Process (DANP) method was applied to evaluate the significance of defined criteria and aspects and their interdependency. It is established that the three most important criteria for vehicle procurement are vehicle price, vehicle maintenance, and vehicle selling price. The most important aspect is construction technical aspect, while the aspect of the environment is the least important. The Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method was used to rank eight different vehicles, which were considered by vehicle fleet manager at the observed company. This model assists fleet managers in the selection of the most suitable vehicle for procurement, while significantly reducing decision-making time and simultaneously observing all necessary criteria and their weights. Moreover, we have considered 10 different scenarios to establish whether and how the rank of the observed alternatives would change.

The application of technology innovation is rapidly increasing in industries and educational institutions. This phenomenon has led to the emergence of Technology Enabled/Enhanced Active Learning (TEAL) which emphasizes the use of various techniques and technologies. TEAL is a new learning format that combines educational content from a lecturer, simulation, and student’s experiences using technological tools to provide a rich collaborative learning experience for students. This approach is used to provide academic professional development that brings innovation to the learning content, practically by using pedagogy, technology and classroom design. TEAL ensures the enhanced development of student's knowledge and skills in order to produce quality skilful workers with adequate employability skills. Technology is an effective tool used to facilitate the teaching and learning process, which can, in turn, create an active environment for students to build their knowledge, skill and experience. This paper determines the elements of TEAL based on interview sessions with expert academicians and from a systematic literature review. The selection of TEAL elements for this study was carried out using thematic analysis approach. Findings show that these TEAL elements would help institutions to promote students in involving themselves in active learning in order to enhance the quality of graduates in improving their technical knowledge, thereby enhancing their employability skills.

The selection of vendors to work on a project is an activity that must be carried out effectively and precisely so that the project is carried out in accordance with business needs and does not suffer losses. To get the best vendor ranking, you can use the TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) calculation method. TOPSIS method is a method that generates rankings by calculating the distance between the best solution and the worst solution. The steps to calculate using TOPSIS are identification of alternatives and their values, create a decision matrix, normalize the matrix, calculate the normalization matrix, look for positive and negative solutions, calculate the distance between positive and negative solutions, and calculate relative closeness and sort preferences. In this study using 8 criteria and 5 alternative vendors. Research method using research and development. This method will produce a prototype. The results of the calculation of TOPSIS obtained vendor c who gets the highest score and vendor b with the lowest rank

A municipality improves the quality of community life through its projects and actions. However, project selection and prioritization by municipalities are highly complex processes. Therefore, multicriteria decision making (MCDM) methodologies are very suitable for determining the best alternative. Recently, some studies have concentrated on the selection of the best project alternatives. In this paper, a two phased fuzzy MCDM methodology is proposed for the selection among municipal projects. In the first phase, fuzzy TOPSIS method is used to select the main project group and then fuzzy AHP is used to select the best sub-municipal project. The application of the suggested methodology has been made at the central district municipality in Konya, Turkey.

The quality of education as a pillar of human resource development, closely related to management at educational institutions. Quality education will arise if quality schools, which can not be separated from the management properly. The quality of education is not independent of inputs, processes, outputs or outcomes. Therefore, education must be continuously upgraded through a management system that can be accountable to stakeholders in order to be able to prepare future generations who have a competitive advantage in answering and solving the future challenges of the nation in the global era. The reason for choosing in MTs Negeri 2 Palembang because in terms of acceptance of MTs Negeri 2 Palembang receive inputs with the selection of both written tests and test kaji. In the process of education continues to increase the potential of existing teachers proven teachers who have S2 as much as 6 people. Outputs issued can penetrate state high school and Madrasah Aliyah Negeri and students who excel, therefore MTs Negeri 2 Palembang can be used as a model

Stochastic multi-criteria acceptability analysis (SMAA-2) and the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) are methods for evaluating alternatives with multiple criteria. SMAA is a method that is used for solving multi-criteria decision-making problems with uncertain, inaccurate information, and does not require preference information from the decision makers. The TOPSIS method is based on the principle of determining a solution with the shortest distance to the ideal solution and the greatest distance from the negative-ideal solution. This paper proposes a new method, SMAA-TOPSIS, by combining the SMAA and TOPSIS methods. The SMAA-TOPSIS method was executed for two problems: drug benefit-risk analysis and machine gun selection. This paper found that TOPSIS could be used with uncertain and arbitrarily distributed values for weights and criteria measurements by using a combination of SMAA and TOPSIS. Also, we obtained clearer and consistent SMAA outputs.

The selection of an appropriate spillway has a significant effect to the construction of a dam and several procedures and considerations are needed. In the past, this selection of the type of the spillway was arbitrary and sometimes with bad results. Recently the Multiple Criteria Decision Making theory has given the possibility to make a decision about the optimum form of a spillway under complex circumstances. In this paper, the above method is used and especially the TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method for the selection of a spillway for a dam in the district of Kilkis in Northern Greece—‘Dam Pigi’. As the criteria were fuzzy and uncertain, the Fuzzy TOPSIS method is introduced together with the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), which is used for the evaluation of criteria and weights. Five types of spillways were selected as alternatives and nine criteria. The criteria are expressed as triangular fuzzy numbers in order to formulate the problem. Finally, using the Fuzzy TOPSIS method, the alternatives were ranked and the optimum type of spillway was obtained.
