Traditional intersections have always caused accidents. There are numerous geometric intersection designs that best fit each situation. This study performed an operational and safety comparison with different intersection like signalized, unsignalized and roundabout to decrease the overall travel delay & collision at intersection and increase the safety using case study. This dissertation describes the application of the traffic conflict technique to estimate, traffic safety at intersections. Using data collected from surveys, traffic frequency and severity standards for signalized and roundabout have been established. The methodologies are developed incorporating the relative importance of different severity of different safety indices at intersection. The relative importance (weights) of very low, low, medium and high severity condition is developed using data collection and expert opinions experience people which have knowledge in development/safety development at intersection were obtained by conducting a survey. A questionnaire was prepared to obtain the relative importance of different severity of different parameter performance. The weights are developed in such a way that their values lie between 0 and 1. In proposed work design safety parameter for intersection for enhancement of safety at intersections and all safety design is implemented on MATLAB and analysis of the geometrical design for vehicle system in the intersection by MATLAB, analyses, the status of confliction and desired value obtained by comparison of actual value with available geometric designs and to enhance the safety at intersection and explores methods to solve the problem of collision at intersections. In this paper evaluate safety parameter of roundabout.

The spectacular increase of number of motor vehicles on the road is mainly attributed ingeneration of traffic problems like accidents, congestions, delays etc., especially in the urban premises of developing countries. This paper examines the traffic problems and sustainable improvement of road intersection at Bhopal, India. The special and temporal constitutions of the vehicle as well as pedestrian traffic at the intersections were examined and the characteristics of the junction indoctrinating the delay problems are identified. Data regarding the traffic volume, land use and pedestrian movement activities are collected through surveys, expert opinion and literature . Analysis of the collected data revealed that the improper planning of the junctions, lack of traffic signals and unauthorised parking are the major factors contributing to the traffic congestions. Road traffic, as a part of the entire transport system, is an important factor of social growth and development, which is necessary to create conditions for its safe operation, bearing in mind that all the benefits of this phenomenon are still paying a high price of unnecessary human suffering. In a contemporary society, there is a large number of institutions that play a role in the functioning of the transport system, but they stand out as the holders of activities and measures to improve traffic safety. Given that the number of accidents in recent years has reached a worrying level, in the interest of society is to reduce the number of accidents, or to increase traffic safety, because the consequences that the society is submitting in the form of human casualties and material damage are large. The model for the absolute traffic safety does not exist, but a permanent analytical monitoring of the status of road safety, control and regulation of traffic and taking measures to eliminate the risk factors can greatly increase the level of traffic safety.

This paper presents a novel methodology for determining the overall highway safety level by integrating statistical analysis and analytic network process (ANP) with set pair analysis (SPA) which is applied in the evaluation of the overall highway safety for the first time. The methodology accounts for both quantitative and qualitative factors that contribute to traffic safety. The statistical analysis uses crash, alignment, intersection, and other data to determine the significant indices (variables) that affect safety. These indices are then combined with the planning (qualitative) indices to determine the weights of all indices based on expert opinions using ANP. Finally, the overall safety level of the highway is determined using SPA. The methodology is illustrated using data collected from two highways in China. The results demonstrate that the proposed methodology is sound and reliable. The methodology is applicable to existing or new highways and can help to effectively evaluate the overall safety of a highway and develop long-term strategies for safety improvements.

Curved section is one of the sections where happened extraordinarily serious traffic accidents in China. Until now, one kind of the traffic safety evaluation method based on the accident indexes, the other based on the non-accident indexes, just as the traffic conflict technique. But there are difficulties in collecting data when the evaluation of traffic safety on specific road sections is applied. So, one safety evaluation method for the curved sections is putting forward, in which the deviation value between the driving track and safe trajectory is used as the evaluation index, and the gray evaluation method is applied. The case study shows that, the method in this paper could be a new way for traffic safety evaluation.

The purpose of this research is to examine the dual position and budget used of the Regional Representative Council of Indonesia toward the status of position as Chairperson of the Family Welfare Movement and the Chairperson of the National Craft Council in an area based on the provisions of the law. This study was carried out in Kota Kupang for 6 (six) months, from January to July 2019. This study was included in the case study classification. The subjects used were legal references and expert opinions. The type of data used is secondary data with documentation techniques. Analysis of the data obtained was done descriptively. The result of the analysis about concurrent of positions and budget used for DPD RI members in accordance with Article 302 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) in Law in MD3 are not valid if someone other than being a DPD RI member is also as Chairperson of the Family Welfare Movement, and Chairperson of the National Craft Council.

The majority of traffic safety evaluations in the world generally have been conducted by colecting historical accident data. The data will then being analyzed using risk prediction models or before-after study that required an exact and reliable data. Meanwhile, the availability of accident data is rare where the rest actually consist of near-crashes and abnormal behaviour, which is mostly underreporting and lack of detail concerning the behavioural and situational of the event. Therefore, traffic conflict technique, is needed to assess traffic safety as another approach rather than waiting for several years until a number of accidents happen in a certain area. Hence the aim of this study is to make a safety evaluation towards a specific intersection in Hasselt Belgium using traffic conflict technique. The observation of conflict (near crashes) was carried out in intersection of Manteliusstraat – Dorpsstraat – Thonissenlaan in the Hasselt, Belgium. In order to differentiate slight conflict and serious conflict, the TA-value (Time of accident) was defined based on the estimated speed of the road user and estimated distance from the road user when conflict occurred. From the observation, it was found that the conflicts between car and pedestrian were the most frequent conflict, with 50% of the total conflict, and that the conflict between car with car and the conflict between car with cyclist were high in terms of severity level based on the TA-value. By taking these into consideration, it can be concluded that unsafe crossing for pedestrian and cyclist, different speed, and peak hour traffic were the causes of conflict. Therefore, it was concluded that traffic conflict technique can be used to assess and measure traffic safety in a certain road segment. Furthermore, in term of safety, the Manteliusstraat – Dorpsstraat – Thonissenlaan intersection should be modified with some alternatives; signalized intersection with toucan crossing and traffic control devices improvement

Fracking has helped to usher in an era of energy abundance in the United States. This advanced drilling procedure has helped the nation to attain the status of the largest producer of crude oil and natural gas in the world, but some of its negative externalities, such as human-induced seismicity, can no longer be ignored. The occurrence of earthquakes in communities located at proximity to disposal wells with no prior history of seismicity has shocked residents and have caused damages to properties. It has evoked individuals’ resentment against the practice of injection of fracking’s wastewater under pressure into underground disposal wells. Though the oil and gas companies have denied the existence of a link between such a practice and earthquakes and the local and state governments have delayed their responses to the unforeseen seismic events, the issue has gained in prominence among researchers, affected community residents, and the media. This case study has offered a glimpse into the varied responses of stakeholders to human-induced seismicity in a small city in the state of Texas. It is evident from this case study that although individuals’ complaints and protests from a small community may not be successful in bringing about statewide changes in regulatory policies on disposal of fracking’s wastewater, they can add to the public pressure on the state government to do something to address the problem in a state that supports fracking.
