A field experiment was carried out at the Agricultural Research and Experiments (station A), which belong to the college of Agricultural Engineering Sciences/University of Baghdad with a silty loam soil by using Randomized Block Design with three replicates to evaluate the effect of using a combination of bacterial biofertilizer consist of Bacillus megaterium , Bacillus mucilagenosus and Rhizobium phaseoli with two levels of vermicompost (0 and 10 mcgh-1) on plant growth parameters of Green Beans and its yield and availability of N,P and K in soil under two levels of mineral fertilization (0% and 50%) of fertilizer recommendation in addition to using the full fertilizer recommendation treatment(100%) as a second control treatment. The results showed the significant superiority of the bacterial combination biofertilizer with (10 mcgh-1 ) vermicompost and 50% of mineral fertilizer compared with the treatment of full fertilizer recommendation in most of the growth and yield parameters of green beans, as the number of pods, nodules number and total yield were 150.00 plant pod-1 ,8.33 plant node-1and 71.48 mcg h-1respectively,whereas the soil content of a available NPK was 85.00,14.00 and 198.00 mcgh-1 in the same treatment above respectively in compare with the control(without any addition) treatment which its availability of NPK was (29.00,4.07 ,89.00)mgkg-1respectively.

Field experiment was carried out during the spring and fall seasons of 2019 at the Abu Ghraib Research Station of the Agricultural Research Office/ Ministry of Agriculture, was aimed to investigate the effect of plant growth inhibitors on growth and yield of several sorghum varieties .Randomized Complete Block Design within split plot arrangement with three replications was used. The main plot consists of three growth inhibitors (Cycocel, Ethiphon, and Mebiquat), which were added at stages six and eight leaf stage, in addition to the control treatment (distilled water only), the sub plot was included three cultivars (Mabrouk, Buhooth 70 and Giza 113). The results showed in both seasons significant interaction between cultivars and growth inhibitors in most of the studied traits. The plants of the variety Giza 113 sprayed with Ethiphon recorded the lowest period of reaching physiological maturity, the highest average dry matter yield, and the highest weight of 1000 grains (89.00 days, 17.32 ton ha-1, and 39.33 gm) respectively. The same variety recorded the highest content of chlorophyll in the leaves and the highest grain yield due to the effect of Mebiquat (49.50 spad, 3.93 ton ha-1. The cultivar Buhooth 70 with the effect of Cycocel achieved the highest average of dry matter yield of 33.27 ton ha-1.

Field experiment on production systems of `Selva' day-neutral and `Totem' June-bearing strawberry was established in 1995 on the spring-killed cover crop mulched plots using randomized complete-block design. Seven soil cover treatments consisted of `Wheeler' rye (Secale cereale) and `Micah' and `Steptoe' barley (Hordium vulgare), `Micah' residue applied on soil surface, a wedge of perlite (artificial medium) placed next to strawberry row, perlite with `Wheeler' rye, and no treatment were used. During the early summer, cover crops were replanted between strawberry rows and mowed down after 6 weeks. In both cultivars, plant growth doubled during mid-summer, and `Micah'on surface produced better growth than the growth in other treatments. No significant difference was found on CO2 assimilation rate (mmol·m–2·s–1), leaflet length, and number of leaves and runners among treatments (P ≥ 0.1). Yield of `Totem' was ignored during the establishment year. In `Selva', `Micah' residue on surface produced 36% more crowns per plant and the greatest total yield than that of any other treatment. `Micah' on surface produced 50% more shoot biomass and 45% greater yield compared to `Micah' barley planted in the plot. Total `Selva' yield was 61% greater in perlite treatment than the yield in perlite with `Wheeler' rye and 31% greater than the control treatment. Comparison of `Selva' strawberry total yield and average fruit production between cover crops vs. control treatment using non-orthogonal contrast indicated no significant difference might suggests no detrimental interaction between cover crops and strawberry.

 The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of some amino acids on tillering and grain yield of bread wheat cultivars. A field experiment was carried out at the agricultural experiment station, College of Agriculture Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad during the two winter seasons, 2016-2017 and 2017-2018. Randomized Complete Block Design within split plots arrangement was used in three replicates. The experiment included two factors, the first (main plots) was the wheat cultivars (IPA 99, Buhooth 22, and Abu-Graib3) and the second (sub-plots) was foliar application three amino acids (L-Tryptophan, L-Glycine, and L-Lysine) with concentrations 50 and 100 mg L-1 and the amino acid L-Cystine at 100 and 150 mg L-1 and control treatment. The treatments of foliar application were applied during two growth stages, the first was when the main stem had three leaves (ZGS: 13) and the second was when the plant entered the flowering stage (ZGS: 60). Results showed the significant superiority of Buhooth 22 in most growth traits, which produced the highest number of tillers.m-2 (556.30 and 568.15 tillers m-2), number of spikes (476.74 and 494.19 spikes m-2), weight of 1000 grains (31.09 and 32.43 g), and grain yield (5.39 and 5.15 Mg ha-1) for the two seasons respectively. The treatment of foliar application L-Tryptophan at 50 mg L-1 was significantly superior in most traits of yield components which produced the highest values of the number of tillers (616.89 and 627.78 tillers m-2), number of spikes (477.00 and 944.67 spikes m-2), weight of 1000 grains (32.01 and 33.55g), and grain yield (5.77 and 5.33Mg ha-1) in the two seasons, respectively. The response of wheat cultivar growth and yield to amino acids differed significantly.

So far, research has been conducted to know the effect of cattle manure fertilizer on growth and yield of carrot under Jimma condition. Experiment was conducted at Jimma University College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at horticulture garden during 2016 cropping season under irrigation condition. Experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design and cattle manure applications with four treatments (0, 5, 10 and 18 tons per hectare) were used. Each treatment was replicated three times. Data was collected from five randomly taken plants per plot. The finding revealed that application of cattle manure on carrot showed a highly significant effect for growth parameters (plant height, canopy diameter, root length and root diameter). Application of cattle manure at 10 tons ha-1 increased carrot root weight by 48.8 % compared to the non-fertilized control treatment. Therefore, this finding would be a base for future research to be conducted.

This experiment was carried out at the fields of the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Gardening, College of Agriculture, University of Baghdad, during the spring season of 2015 to study the effect of nitrogen fixing bacterial bio-fertilizers including Rhizobium phaseoli, Azotobacter  chroococcum, and Azospirillum brasilense and molybdenum on growth and yield of green beans. The experiment was conducted according to the randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications each included 11 treatments represent the interactions between nitrogen fixing bacteria strains, molybdenum solo application, molybdenum and bacteria strains interactions, in addition to the recommended nitrogen application and control treatment. Results were analyzed using the least significant differences (LSD) test at 5% level of significance. Results showed significant effect of the treatment that included all bacteria strains and Mo (T11) on increasing plant macro elements (N, P, and K) which gave 2.39%, 0.49%, and 2.92%, respectively and Fe and Mo concentrations of 269.67 mg.L-1 and 0.69 mg.L-1, respectively and protein percentage in the pods of 13.98%. in addition, treatment of both R. phaseoli  and A. chroococcum (T5) gave the most significant main root length of 36.56 cm while R. phaseoli  and A. chroococcum and Mo (T9) gave the largest root surface area of 115.00 cm2 and the highest number of root nods that reached 5.33 nod.plant-1. Moreover, T5 significantly increased plant height, leaf number, shoot dry weight, and pod’s length that reached 54.67 cm, 30.22 leaf.plant-1, 65.56 g.plant-1, and 13.62 cm, respectively. As for the T9, results showed significant increase in the number of pods per plant and plant yield of 51.61 pod.plant-1 and 262.03 g.plant-1, respectively.

This study was aimed to estimate the influence of Conocarpus erectus L. residues, and some micronutrients on growth and production of potato. This research was conducted at one of the fields of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences - University of Baghdad. The experiment was implemented using factorial arrangement (4X3X3) within randomized complete block design with three replicates. Conocarpus fertilizer was represented the first factor with three levels (7.5, 15, 30 ton.ha-1), which symbolized (C2, C3, C4). Mineral fertilizer as recommended dose as a control, which symbolized (C1). The second factor was foliar spraying with three levels of iron (0, 100, 200 mg.L-1), which symbolized (F0, F1, F2). The third factor is foliar spraying with three levels of boron (0, 50, 100 mg.L-1), which symbolized (B0, B1, B2). Results revealed that the treatments C1 and C3 produced significant results in most of studied traits such as, Leaves number (71.74, 82.26 leaves plant-1), leaves chlorophyll content (223.30, 174.11 mg 100g wet weight) and total yield (84.24, 51.98 ton h-1) for both seasons respectively, while C1 and C4 produced the most significant protein percent reached (7.53, 7.71%) respectively. The foliar application of Fe at F2 produced the highest results in leaves number (70.47, 80.18 leaves plant-1), protein percent (7.40, 7.55%) for both seasons respectively, Also the foliar application of Boron at B1 and B2 produced a significant results  in leaves number (68.58, 78.71 leaves plant-1), total yield (48.47, 76.00 ton h-1), and protein percent (7.43, 7.49%) for both seasons respectively. Furthermore, the third order interaction at the treatment C3F2B2 produced the highest protein percent (7.78%) in spring season only.

The experiment was conducted for two consecutive rabi seasons of 2005-06 and 2006-07 at the Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), BARI, Jamalpur to find out an optimum dose of sulphur for yield maximization of garlic cv. Jamalpur local. There were six levels of sulphur viz., 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, and 75 kg/ha. A control treatment was in the experiment. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. The fertilizer package N150P60K120Zn4 B1 kg/ha was applied to each plot as blanket dose.  Results revealed that most of the growth and yield parameters increased progressively with increasing rate of sulphur application. Bulb yield increased with successive increase in the level of sulphur up to 45 kg/ha and thereafter decreased. The highest bulb yield (7.05 t/ha in 2005-06 and 7.22 t/ha in 2006- 07) was achieved at 45 kg S/ha and the control treatment receiving no fertilizer had the lowest yield (3.21 t/ha in 2005-06 in and 3.26 t/ha in 2006-07). The yield benefit for 45 kg sulphur per hawas 34.2% in 2005-06 and 40.0% in 2006-07 over no sulphur. Sulphur at 45 kg/ha produced 54.5% and 54.9% higher yield over control treatment in both the years. Une étude a été entreprise sur les Hautes Terres malgaches. L’objectif est d’évaluer l’effet de la poudre d’os et le fumier de zébu sur la croissance et le rendement de haricot (Phaseolus vulgaris). L’expérimentation a été mise en place avec un dispositif en blocs randomisés à quatre répétitions et quatre traitements : (1) parcelles témoins non fertilisées (T0) et parcelles fertilisées respectivement par (2) de fumier de zébu pur (Tfu), (3) de fumier de zébu combiné avec du N11P22K16 (Tfu+NPK) et (4) de fumier de zébu combiné avec de la poudre d’os (Tfu+os). Les résultats ont montré que la combinaison de fertilisants organiques et minéraux a offert de meilleures croissances (hauteur de la plante et nombre des feuilles) par rapport au simple apport de fertilisant organique. Par ailleurs, les rendements en grains de haricots ont été significativement plus élevés avec Tfu+os (1,77 t.ha-1) par rapport aux traitements Tfu+NPK (1,47 t.ha-1) et Tfu (1,32 t.ha-1). Ces trois traitements étant significativement plus élevés que le traitement témoin sans aucun apport de fertilisant T0 (0,73 t.ha-1). En conclusion, l’apport de la poudre d’os apparaît comme un bon substitut à l’emploi d’engrais de synthèse et pourrait être recommandé pour la production de haricot.Mots clés : Engrais minéral ; phénologie de haricot ; sol ferrallitique ; rendement de culture.   English Title: Bone powder and zebu manure effects on beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L) production in Highlands of MadagascarAn experiment was carried out in Highlands of Madagascar. This study aims to assess zebu bone powder and cattle manure effects in fertilization for common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) growth and yield. Four treatments were compared in a complete randomized block design with four replications: (1) no-fertilized control plots (T0) and fertilized plots respectively with (2) cattle manure only (Tfu); (3) mixed fertilization with cattle manure and N11P22K16 (Tfu+ N11P22K16); and (4) mixed fertilization with cattle manure and bone powder (Tfu + os). In result, mixed fertilizer with organic and mineral improved significantly bean growth parameters (plant height and number of leaf plant) compared with organic fertilizer alone. Bean grain yields were significantly higher with Tfu+os (1.77 t.ha-1) compared to Tfu + NPK (1.47 t.ha 1) and Tfu (1.32 t. ha-1) and which were not significantly different. The control T0 (0.73 t.ha-1) showed significantly lower yield than the three other treatments. In fact, bone powder could be encouraged locally as an alternative resource to synthetic fertilizer.Keywords: Mineral fertilization; bean phenology; ferralitic soil; crop yield.

The experiment was carried out according to the randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications each included 11 treatments represent the interactions between nitrogen fixing bacteria strains, molybdenum solo application, molybdenum and bacteria strains interactions, in addition to the recommended nitrogen application and control treatment. Results were analyzed using the least significant differences (LSD) test at 5% level of significance. Results showed that treatment with all three bacteria strains and Mo (T11) gave the most significant value of leaf area and N, P, Fe, Mo in the pods which gave 59.50 dm2.plant-1, 2.24%, 0.25%, 51.67 mg.kg-1, and 0.34 mg.kg-1, respectively. However, treatment with nitrogen (T2) significantly increase potassium percentage in plant pods, root branching, and leaf chlorophyll content that reached 1.71%, 12.11 branch.plant-1, and 147.98 mg.100 g-1 fresh weight. Moreover, treatment with both R. phaseoli and A. chroococcum (T5) gave the highest root dry weight of 7.78 g.plant-1 while the treatment with both R. phaseoli and A. chroococcum and Mo (T9) gave the highest root nodular fresh weight of 633.51 mg.plant-1. Treatments with R. phaseoli alone (T4) and with both R. phaseoli and A. chroococcum (T5) significantly increased shoot number that reached 4.11 shoot.plant-1 while treatment with all bacteria strains (T7) yielded the highest pod’s weight of 5.91 g. As for the total yield, treatment with both R. phaseoli and A. chroococcum and Mo showed to significantly increase total production that gave 20.96 Ton.Ha-1.

Abstract A field experiment was conducted in the Amiriyat al-Fallujah district of the Anbar governorate to know the effect of the combination of sulfur and organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of onion, (a local red type), under different plant densities. The experiment included two factors, first: a combination of fertilizing with decomposing Cow’s manure (20 tons.ha-1) and sulfur (50 kg.ha-1), and this factor was distributed as follows (T0: fertilizer recommendation (NPK 100-100-120 kg.ha-1 It is considered a control). T1: cow waste + half of the chemical fertilizer recommendation and T2: fertilizer recommendation + sulfur addition and T3: Cow’s manure + half of the fertilizer recommendation + sulfur addition and T4: double the recommendation of cow manure (40 t.ha-1 + half of the fertilizer recommendation + adding sulfur). The second factor: planting distances (S1:10×10, S2:10×15, and S3:10×20) cm. The distance between plants was fixed 10 cm and the dimensions changed between one line and another. The study was carried out as a factorial experiment with the randomized complete block design (RCBD). The results showed clear significant differences for the two study factors in characteristics of vegetative growth, yield, and the content of total soluble solids, as the T4S3 treatment exceeded by giving it the highest number of tubular blades, leaf area and the highest percentage of sulfur in the leaves, which was positively reflected on the plant yield and percentage the total soluble solids amounted to (16.57 blades.plant-1, 15.97 dm2, 1.70%, 0.64%, 104.50 g, 15.83%), respectively, The treatment of planting distances S1 achieved significant differences in the total yield (90.39 tons.ha-1 and 8.91 kg) respectively compared to plants of treatment S3, which achieved(74.29 tons.ha-1and 5.39 kg).
