Specialties of systemic hemodynamics in Russian and foreign medical students

SummaryIn this work, the purpose of the study was to evaluate the parameters of systemic hemodynamics in students of the Russian and foreign departments of the Privolzhsky research Medical University. The study included 48 Russian students of medical, pediatric and dental faculties, as well as 54 students studying at the faculty of international medical education. To register ECG and analyze hemodynamic parameters, we used the Medical Soft sports testing system (MS FIT Pro version, Russia). Standard hemodynamic parameters (blood pressure level, pulse rate, stroke volume, cardiac output, etc.), statistical and spectral parameters of heart rate variability, as well as the integral criterion of microcirculation status were used for monitoring. Data analysis was performed in accordance with age standards formed by the equipment developers. The presence of sufficient adaptive reserves in both groups of subjects was revealed, but foreign students have a lower arteriole tone, a greater risk of arrhythmogenicity, higher intensity of microcirculation and a predisposition to moderate bradycardia.

Background & objectives:Existence of anxiety and depression among students has growing tendency in the world. Purpose of the study was to determine the prevalence of anxiety and depression among international medical students studying in Georgia and their association with the body weight and blood pressure level. Methods: 70 international medical students (mean age±SD 22.67±2.65) were included in the study. All participantsfilled in anonymous questionnaires, which included socio-demographic data, blood pressure level, presence of diabetes mellitus, eating habits and body mass index (BMI). For an assessment of anxiety and depression was used Hospital Scale of Anxiety and Depression. Results:In comparison with hypertensive or prehypertensive population, normotensive subjects had significantly lower depression and anxiety scores (P<0.001 for both). Hypertensive students had higher anxiety score than prehypertensive individuals (P=0.03). Therefore, depression score was not different between hypertensive and prehypertensive subjects. Study showed a positive correlation between blood pressure, BMI, depression and anxiety scores (P<0.005). Interpretation and conclusion: High prevalence of depression, anxiety, prehypertension, non-healthy eating habits and lifestyle among international medical students points out on the need to identify and treat mental health problems as early as possible to prevent possible serious sequelae. The article attempts to identify effective methods of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language and to base them on the European experience. The most commonly used methods in the European practice of foreign language teaching are characterized: communicative, project, audio-lingual, distance, intensive and blended learning. The advantages of the blended learning system are examined. An interpretation of the term "blended learning" is proposed. The features of the organization of online learning and the structure of blended learning are described. The data of the conducted survey are presented: a) teachers conducting classes in Ukrainian as a foreign language; b) foreign students from different countries. Questionnaire was developed for the survey. The article proposes some tasks for teachers of Ukrainian as a foreign language, commenting on the specifics of different models of blended learning. Based on the results of the survey, the respondents outlined effective methods of teaching a foreign language, identified factors that influence the use of the blended learning model of future doctors when teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language. The advantages and prospects of using blended learning in the educational process of a higher medical institution are analyzed. The results of the study strongly suggest that the blended learning model opens up new possibilities for presenting educational material in a new and accessible form for students.
