The aim of this study is to evaluate the curricular development and educational resources of the school libraries in Málaga. The provincial coordination of the Educational Local Office has carried out- since the academic course 2008/2009- an annual evaluation focused on five dimensions related to the actions of the Provincial Network of School Libraries. This Network is formed by the public schools of Primary and Secondary Education of the province. This article presents the most relevant results of the evaluation questionnaire for the 2014/2015 academic year in which 430 educational centres participated, offering a comparison according to the educational centre (pre-school, primary school or secondary school) and the school year. In general, there is progress in school libraries due to its normative regulation, the involvement of teachers in charge of libraries in collegiate bodies, the use of digital tools and social networks. However, there is a need to expand the opening hours of the library, to reinforce the collaboration of teachers who coordinate educational projects and to improve the sections and links of the web portals of libraries. On the one hand, these conclusions are intended to serve as a self-assessment to help school librarians to reflect and identify their strengths and weaknesses. On the other hand, they show the development of the key actions of school libraries, both their progress and their deficiencies, in relation to the standards established at national and international level.

In this study I examined archival material relating to music lessons that aired on the Indiana School of the Sky during its inaugural season in the 1947–1948 school year. The Indiana School of the Sky was an educational radio program intended for use in the public schools and produced by Indiana University students and professors, in partnership with the State Department of Education. The purpose of this study was to illuminate details of the Indiana School of the Sky music program during its inaugural season in 1947–1948, such as the staff, repertoire, teaching strategies, and program structure. Of particular interest was Dorothy G. Kelley, who served as supervisor of the Indiana School of the Sky music episodes during its inaugural season, and was the first female to join the faculty of the Music Education Department at Indiana University. A secondary purpose was to examine the intersection of education and technology in the late 1940s through the lens of the Indiana School of the Sky and to afford contemporary music educators the opportunity to reflect on how they use current technologies in their classrooms. This study found that the program employed three main teaching strategies: singalong, call and response, and listening. Indiana University music and music education students performed in many music episodes alongside Kelley, and 34% of compositions that aired during the 1948–1949 school year comprised of music by composers from the United States, or folk music originating in the United States. Other countries represented by either composer or folk tradition included Australia, Austria, Czechoslovakia, England, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Mexico, Russia, and Spain.

Historians agree that the public schools played a central role in the creation of Victorian society and that in particular they were seminal in the construction of that “mid-Victorian compromise” which made the mid-century an era of “balance,” “equipoise,” and accommodation. There is further agreement that the cadre of boys produced by the newly reformed public schools became that mid-Victorian governing and social elite which was at once larger, more broadly based, more professional and, to many, more talented than the one which preceded it. The importance of the public schools in this regard was, as Asa Briggs affirms, twofold. They assimilated the “representatives of old families with the sons of the new middle classes,” thereby creating the “social amalgam” which, in Briggs' view, “cemented old and new ruling groups which had previously remained apart.” Secondly, the singular expression of that amalgamation was an elite type, the “Christian Gentleman”—the result of an “education in character” administered under the influence of Dr. Arnold. Arnold was able to do this because he “reconciled the serious classes” (that is, the commercial middle class) “to the public schools,” sharing as he did “their faith in progress, goodness, and their own vocation.” At first, the schools “attracted primarily the sons of the nobility, gentry and professional classes.” Later, it was the “sons of the leaders of industry” who were, like earlier generations of boys, amalgamated with “the sons of men of different traditions” in a broadened “conception of a gentleman.”

The objective of this research is to investigate the extent to which teachers and teachers are employed for real-life evaluation strategies and tools in the public schools of Zarqa I, Jordan. The research used the survey method and quantitative qualitative analytical research method. A questionnaire was distributed to a sample of 100 teachers from various disciplines. The results of the study showed that the degree of teachers' reliance on the realistic assessment strategies based on communication (questions and answers), observation (automatic), paper and pen (multiple choice) and self assessment were the highest among the teachers with average (4.55) (5). As for the evaluation tools, the monitoring lists topped the highest (4.99), followed by the digital estimation scales (4.41). The results of the study showed that there were no statistically significant differences due to gender, specialization or years of service. There were statistically significant differences due to the variable receiving training courses for realistic evaluation strategies. In light of the results, a number of recommendations were recommended to improve the evaluation of the basic stage students in Jordan.

This study focused on the view and opinion of school librarians about the extent of electronic information services provided in school libraries in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. And studied this problem: through the provision of school libraries' electronic information services; what level of their ability to help the success and improve the teaching process. The views and opinions of librarians were collected through a questionnaire on the reality of electronic information services provided by school libraries of the Ministry of Education in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The study included librarians in public schools in the academic year 2016-2017. The study focused on school librarians, whether male or female, in the general public education community in Karak governorate. The researcher used the descriptive, analytical approach and the opinions of the librarians in the information services. To collect the data, the researcher used a questionnaire to know the situation of officials and staff of information services in school libraries and also to identify the problems facing these services and to know future plans to improve and develop information services provided in school libraries. Due to the lack of Internet, the lack of integrated automated systems, the lack of computers for employees or beneficiaries, the lack of marketing activities, the lack of exploitation of social networks, and the lack of cooperation between school libraries in the field of information services in Jordan; Most libraries offer traditional services such as reference service, secondment, etc., as indicated in this study. Electronic information services in school libraries face many difficulties or challenges or important problems, such as lack of information network, budget, the provision of computers rarely, the lack of training programs, and therefore this achieves the desired objectives for libraries negatively affected by these difficulties and challenges. The study focused on a set of hypotheses and the results were as follows: For the response of the sample on the difficulties facing electronic information services, there are differences with statistical function, due to a set of variables such as (gender, participation in training courses), but because of these two variables (knowledge of tasks There are no statistically significant differences.

Introduction: As the IASL conference theme in Istanbul, Turkey was “Information, innovation and impact of school libraries” it is interesting, a year later, to focus on how the school library, as well as the school librarian, will have to adopt the field, as well as: looking back at the material brought out during the first two occasions of this theme, presented to the public at the IASL conferences in Long Beach (2017) and Istanbul (2018). The third part of the theme will mainly be a contribution of useful material and methods, practically applied in Sweden for over ten years. The material and methods function as an inspiration to the work and progress for school libraries and school librarians, both on a national and international level. This time a wider scale of the recurrent subject will be presented - mainly to create a practically developed knowledge adapted for school libraries. Knowledge ready to be transformed directly as the participants return to their homes, facing their own school library activities. Objectives of the presentation: The following subjects are set to be the material and methods, presented through the session: Efforts and changes around school libraries in Sweden today. Part three – What’s new after Istanbul? The topics are: Sweden’s reference group for school libraries - an effective working tool established and developed by The Swedish National agency for Education. 2. School library associations, networks, social media platforms, as well as digital portals and work modules, created by The Swedish National agency for Education – as useful working tools dedicated to each and every school librarian, located in the shadow of a nonexistent education for school librarians. 3. A future investment in a national school library education. Something that is not the reality in Sweden today, but will be, tough on a smaller scale, with a start in autumn 2020. A first start that hopefully will spread rings on the water to other major educational sites. The ambition is to give participants in Dubrovnik thoughts on how changes around school libraries can be done in a practical way. Also, learn how to use a reference group, where discussions can lead to knowledge. Learn more about the advantages of working with and through a school library association, as well as how to use different digital tools in a more effective way. And… if participants in Dubrovnik wants to use the material and methods directly during the conference – then there will for sure be even more knowledge to gain.

For some severely and profoundly handicapped children who have a regression-recoupment disability, the lengthy interruption in school programing during the summer months poses serious obstacles to learning. As a result of court decisions in Armstrong v. Kline and Battle v. Commonwealth, the public schools now have an obligation to identify these children and to provide programs suited to their needs. School personnel are urged to take the initiative in developing quality extended school year programs that accommodate the need for clear eligibility criteria based on valid and reliable student performance data, reducing the number of students in need through effective instruction and parent/home involvement; exploring the use of alternative service models; identifying funding mechanisms for extended year programs; and operating programs cost effectively.
