Relevance. The spectrum of combined mechanisms of action of PRP-therapy, LISWT and LNP therapy suggests the clinical eff ect for patients with fi broplastic penile induration, which currently does not have conservative therapies that have suffi cient effi cacy.The aim of the study was to determine the effi cacy of combined PRP-therapy with intracavernous activation of growth factors by LISWT method + LNP and ICA pharmacotherapy in treatment of fi broplastic penile induction.Design. The study group comprised 23 patients of the Men’s Health Clinic in Kyiv, suff ering from fi broplastic penile inducing (Peyronie’s disease, ICD-10: N48.6) with erectile dysfunction.Results of the study. A 6-month follow-up observation showed a reduction of pain during erection, a signifi cant improvement in erectile function, a total regression of the areas less than 25 mm2 and a signifi cant decrease in the density and area of the induration areas that over 25 mm2.Conclusions. It has been established that the therapeutic model of the combined use of PRP-therapy with intracavernous activation of growth factors by LISWT method + LOD + ICA in the treatment of fi broplastic penile induration, shows a pronounced clinical eff ect, which makes this therapeutic model a promising option for conservative correction of pain and erectile dysfunction in fi broplastic penile induration.

Three children with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and chronic anaemia and leucopenia were treated with 5 μg/kg recombinant granulocyte colony-stimulating factor subcutaneously three times a week and 50 IU/kg erythropoietin subcutaneously twice a week. The therapy was not interrupted during the follow-up period. All children showed an increase of leukocyte count and haemoglobin levels. No transfusion was necessary and the number of admissions into hospital fell. These results suggest that combined therapy with granulocyte colony-stimulating factor and erythropoietin may improve leukopenia and anaemia, which is not zidovudine-related, in children who have AIDS.

Aim: To determine whether platelet-rich plasma (PRP) can successfully treat symptoms associated with proximal hamstring tendinopathy. Materials & methods: Charts were retrospectively reviewed of patients with a diagnosis of chronic proximal hamstring tendinopathy who underwent an ultrasound-guided leukocyte-rich PRP injection to assess reported outcomes at baseline and final follow-up post-intervention. Results: In 22 patients with a mean age of 48.7 years and mean symptom duration of 26.5 months, mean Numeric Pain Rating Scale and Victorian Institute of Sport Assessment Scale for Proximal Hamstring Tendinopathy subscores demonstrated statistically significant improvements (p < 0.05) at a mean of 7.91 months follow-up. Sixty-eight percent of patients demonstrated ≥50% reduction of pain. Conclusion: Pain and functional outcomes improved following injection of PRP.

Achilles tendinopathy and patellar tendinopathy are among the most frequent diagnoses in sports medicine. Therapeutic treatment of the disease is difficult, particularly in chronic cases. In literature, several studies suggest the employment of Platelet-Rich Plasma as a therapeutic alternative in tendinopathies. The choice of employing this method is based on the activity of growth factors contained in platelets which activate, amplify, and optimize the healing process. We selected 14 patients affected by Achilles tendinopathy and 7 patients affected by patellar tendinopathy, with a two-year final follow-up. These patients underwent a cycle of three tendinous infiltrations, after clinical and instrumental evaluation carried out by means of specific questionnaires and repeated ultrasound scans. Ultrasound scans of 18 patients showed signs of reduction in insertional irregularities. The result is confirmed by complete functional recovery of the patients, with painful symptomatology disappearing. The patients showed a clear pain reduction, along with an enhanced VISA score after the 24-month follow-up, equal to 84.2 points on a scale of 0 to 100. In conclusion, the present study provides evidence to suggest that PRP infiltration is a valid option to patients with chronic tendinopathy who did not benefit from other treatments.

Context: Alopecia Areata is an inflammatory auto-immune disease mainly affecting the scalp and other hair bearing areas. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is autologous preparation of plasma with concentrated platelets which containing various growth factors and cytokines that enhance the body's inherent capacity to repair and regenerate hair follicles. Aims And Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of platelet rich plasma as monotherapy in alopecia areata. Materials And Methods : Total 20 patients , in that 10 male and 10 female with alopecia areata will be enrolled in this study. PRP will be injected in alopecia sites (hairless patches) every 30 days for a total 4 sessions. Follow up will be taken every month for 6 months and pre and post treatment response will be noted by using photographs .

<p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> New studies focused on modern therapeutic methods which stimulate cartilage healing and repair the damage, including the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as a cocktail of growth factors. This study has the purpose to present the use of PRP in management of knee osteoarthrosis and its outcomes up to 6 month follow up.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> 58 patients with 100 knees (32 male, 26 female) with Kellgren Lawrence grade 1, 2,3 and 4, aged between 50 to 65 years between February 2015 to December 2015 treated with 4 ml of intra-articular PRP injections at 4 week interval in each affected knee and evaluated using WOMAC and VAS scores before injection and on follow up at end of the 1<sup>st</sup>, 3<sup>rd</sup>, and 6<sup>th</sup> month.<strong></strong></p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> The mean age was 58.29 years. Improvement in WOMAC score for KL grade 1 (32.61%), grade 2 (31.12%), grade 3(26.54%) whereas only 13.68% in KL grade 4 at end of 6month follow up. Improvement in VAS score for KL grade 1 (41.30%), grade 2 (38.02%), grade 3 (47.68) whereas only 12.74% in grade 4 at the end of 6 month follow up. Results show statistically higher significant improvement seen in WOMAC and VAS for KL grade 1, 2, and 3 as compared to grade 4 at 6 months follow up.</p><p><strong>Conclusions:</strong> The results of our study illustrated that the treatment with intra articular PRP injections is safe and effective in reducing pain and stiffness as well as improve knee function and quality of life in early stages of knee osteoarthrosis. </p>

<p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> Platelet rich plasma is a recently introduced therapy for treatment of chronic painful conditions in orthopaedics, it acts mainly by promoting healing process. PRP has an increased concentration of platelets which initiate tissue repair by releasing growth factors.<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span>Increased concentrations of autologous platelets yield high concentrations of growth factors, subsequently leading to intensified healing of soft tissue on a cellular level. This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of platelet rich plasma injection in treatment of plantar fasciitis<span lang="EN-IN">.</span></p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> This study was conducted on the patients coming to orthopaedic OPD at MGM medical college and hospital, kamothe, Navi Mumbai. Total of 40 planter fasciitis cases were taken in this study. Out these 40 patients 23 were Male and 17 were female. The mean age 45.85 (range 25-75). Patients were followed up for 3 months with regular interval and at each visit vas score was evaluated and noted.Total duration of study was 3 months from October 2016 to December 2016.<strong></strong></p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> The mean pre injection vas score was 7.15 (Male – 7.13, Female – 6.70). The mean vas score at time of follow up after one week was 6.20 (Male – 6.22 Female – 6.18). The mean vas score at time of follow up after 6 week was 5.62 (Male – 5.66 Female – 5.70).  The mean vas score at time of follow up after 3 months was 3.20 (Male – 3.13 Female – 3.29)<span lang="EN-IN">. </span></p><p class="abstract"><strong>Conclusions:</strong> PRP in plantar fasciitis shows promising short term results providing patients with gradual sustained pain relief, improving daily function and lifestyle activity level. However long term results needs to be evaluated<span lang="EN-IN">.</span></p>

AbstractPlatelet rich plasma is a natural concentrate of autologous blood growth factor which is obtained by sequestering and concentrating platelets by gradient density centrifugation experimented in different fields of medicine in order to test its potential to enhance tissue regeneration. These platelets when activated undergo degranulation to release growth factors with healing properties. It also contains plasma, cytokines, thrombin, and other growth factors that are implicated in wound healing and have inherent biological and adhesive properties. The aim of the study is to explore a novel approach to treat degenerative lesion of the articular cartilage of temporomandibular joint. Patients with chronic degenerative conditions of the joint, were treated with intra articular PRP injections. The procedure involved collection of 10 ml of venous blood and twice centrifuged to obtain 2 ml of PRP which was used for injection after activation by calcium chloride. The patients were clinically prospectively evaluated before and at the end of the treatment, and at 2, 4, and 6 months of follow up. Inter incisical mouth opening, clicking of temporomandibular joint and VAS for pain were used for clinical evaluation. The results showed significant improvement of all clinical scores from basal evaluation to the end of the therapy and on follow up at 2-6 months. The preliminary results indicate that the treatment with PRP injections are safe and has the potential to reduce pain and improvement joint function with low degree of articular degeneration.

Introduction: Permanent scars are the major complications of acne. Correction of scars is the priority for acne patients. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may be useful in the treatment of atrophic acne scars by promoting collagen deposition. Skin needling also releases growth factors, initiate a cascade of wound healing resulting in collagen production. Hence, skin needling and PRP should act synergistically to improve acne scars.Objective: To assess the effectiveness of the combined use of skin needling and PRP application in acne scar treatment.Material and Methods: The study enrolled 10 patients of acne scars. Platelet rich plasma therapy with needling was given to them at monthly interval for a therapeutic period of 6 months. The effects of therapy were evaluated based on photographic assessment and patient’s satisfaction.Results: Mean age of the patients was 28.10 ± 5.065. Twenty percent of patients showed excellent response, 80% showed good response. The results were found to be significant with p value < 0.014. Pain and edema were major complaints which subsided in 1-2 days.Conclusion: Platelet rich plasma therapy combined with skin needling is a safe and effective treatment for management of acne scars.

Background: Stromal vascular fraction cells (SVFs), which can be produced using a mechanical or digestive enzymatic process, are heterogeneous cells with the potential to grow hair in androgenic alopecia patients. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous cell source that is widely used to treat androgenic alopecia. However, the combined use of PRP and SVFs to treat alopecia is rarely reported. Case presentation: This case series describes three cases of androgenic alopecia, including a32-year-old male, a 43-year-old male, and a 65-year-old male. Androgenic alopecia in these patients was treated by injecting the bald area of the scalp with local autologous PRP combined with SVFs. Follow-up was performed 1–3 months after treatment, which showed good results. The hair grew denser, with increased thickness for each strand. The hair pull test revealed that the hair remained intact. Conclusion: The combination of PRP and SVFs affected all cycles of the hair growth process. SVFs are multipotent cells with the potential to become antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, or anti-fibrotic cells. SVFs can regenerate cells that secrete the growth factors, that are essential for angiogenesis, which can improve therapeutic outcomes. This case series will enrich the existing literature by expanding available treatment options for androgenic alopecia.
