В данной статье представлена теоретическая модель переподготовки педагогических кадров в условиях дуального обучения, состоящая из совокупности взаимосвязанных и взаимодополняющих компонентов, описаны основные субъекты системы переподготовки педагогических кадров в условиях дуального обучения: педагог, обучающийся в системе профессиональной переподготовки, наставник, преподаватели университета. В работе также описывается поэтапная экспериментальная работа по определению эффективности разработанной модели, приведены количественные и качественные результаты экспериментальной работы, которые, в свою очередь, позволили выявить педагогические условия, необходимые для эффективного функционирования модели переподготовки педагогических кадров в условиях дуального обучения. Экспериментальной базой исследования стало муниципальное автономное образовательное учреждение «Лицей № 4» г. Чебоксары Чувашской Республики. В экспериментальную группу для прохождения переподготовки в условиях дуального обучения были приглашены слушатели курсов профессиональной переподготовки, обучающиеся по программе «Теория и практика обучения иностранному языку». В данной статье представлены изменения уровней сформированности лингвистической и профессиональной компетенций у данных слушателей в ходе экспериментальной работы. На каждом этапе эксперимента была реализована работа по выполнению учебного плана, определены формы и методы работы наставников, осуществлялась профессиональная адаптация, корректировка профессиональных умений педагогов, обучающихся по программе переподготовки. This article presents the theoretical model of retraining of pedagogical personnel in the conditions of dual education, consisting of a set of interrelated and complementary components; describes the main subjects of the system of retraining of pedagogical personnel in the conditions of dual education: a teacher studying in the system of professional retraining, mentor, university teachers. The work also describes a step-by-step experimental work to determine the effectiveness of the developed model, provides quantitative and qualitative results of experimental work, which in turn made it possible to identify the pedagogical conditions necessary for the effective functioning of the model of retraining of pedagogical personnel in conditions of dual education. The experimental base of the research was the municipal autonomous educational institution “Lyceum No. 4” of the city of Cheboksary, Chuvash Republic. In the experimental group for undergoing retraining in the conditions of dual education were invited the listeners of professional retraining courses, enrolled in the program “Theory and Practice of Teaching a Foreign Language”. This article presents the changes in the levels of formation of linguistic and professional competences among these listeners in the course of experimental work. At each stage of the experiment, work was carried out to fulfill the curriculum, the forms and methods of work of mentors were determined, professional adaptation was carried out, and the professional skills of teachers who were trained in the retraining program were adjusted.

The article presents the experience of creating and operating a consultation center on the basis of a preschool educational institution. Designated: target audience, goal and objectives of the project of creating a consultation center as an actual component to relevance the needs of the population of the municipality. Based on the innovations, the fundamental components of the activities of the kindergarten specialists are described, as well as the purpose and objectives, functions and directions, methods and material resources are indicated. In general, the first work experience of a kindergarten in the City of Novocheboksarsk in the Chuvash Republic on the introduction of a new form of psychological and pedagogical support for families raising children of preschool age at home is disclosed. Significance and expected results were noted against the background of the ongoing activities within the framework of the functioning of the consultation point, the conditions of project sustainability and forecasts. Significant results were: the creation of a model of a counseling center, the solution of psychological and pedagogical problems of families with young children, the emergence of opportunities for families to receive counseling in an accessible form, increasing the professionalism of teachers, improving the image of the institution.

The purpose of the research is to study the specifics of socio-cultural competency development in the framework of foreign language education. To achieve the goal, the experiment was carried out aimed at studying the influence of foreign language teaching on the development of the socio-cultural competency.  The research methodology and its algorithm were selected due to the purpose of the study. Experimental work included a complex psychological and pedagogical experiment, diagnosing the stated parameters and their dynamics. The experimental group included 31 students, the sampling is valid for gender and other significant characteristics. The results of the study confirm that the project method within the framework of foreign language education is effective for the development of socio-cultural competency of students.

The search for effective tools used in teaching English in a military college within the constraints posed by limited time resources is a top problem of foreign language learning theory and practice. The implementation of the principle based on visual aids involves the visualization of linguistic and socio cultural material at foreign language classes and fulfills the requirements of new federal educational standard to the educational process in a higher educational institution, creates the conditions of better assimilation of information studied at the lesson, and encourages cadets to speaking activities. The author gives a very detailed analysis of the infographic method, as a mean of developing students’ communication and speaking skills, relating to the field of foreign language teaching. In the present article it is considered as a graphic way to present the information that combines text material, as well as graphic elements, which provide a visual support for speaking monologue on the topic. The didactic ability of the use of infographics at practical English classes was analyzed by the author. The detailed description of the pedagogical objectives, reached by means of this method, its advantages, possibility of its use for solving educational problems at different lesson stages was given. The methodological recommendations for the purposes of organizing infografic-based activities at English classes and the plan of speaking monologue (support scheme) on infografics were proposed for use. Also, the examples of tasks based on the infographic method, which can be used at foreign language classes in a military college, were given.

The main objective of the study was to assess the perception of non-university teachers in the city of Melilla to help students with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), as well as their attitudes towards helping these students in diabetic emergencies. This observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study analyzed the answers given by 441 teachers from 25 public institutions in the city of Melilla to a survey on the attitude and perception regarding the capacity of educational institutions (16 questions) to help and manage students with T1DM. Out of 47.6% of teachers who represent having had students with TIDM, only 4.8% acknowledged having been trained in diabetes. The percentage that has experienced a hypoglycaemia episode at the institution was 29.9%. More than half of participants acknowledged that their educational institution is not prepared to manage diabetic emergencies. Only 5.7% stated their institutions have glucagon in their first-aid kit and less than half of participants (44.7%) would be willing to administer it if necessary. Teachers of educational institutions believe they have not been particularly trained in the care of students living with T1DM and point out that their educational institutions are not prepared to help in diabetic emergencies.

The article presents the results of experimental work on introducing the technology of intercultural education of students by music in non-auditing work of a higher educational institution and assessing its effectiveness. It was shown that at the end of the forming stage of the experiment there was a significant decrease in the low level of formation of intercultural education of students in the experimental group and the growth of the indicator of a high level in comparison with the control.

The article proposed by the authors examines the features of teaching law students of a non-linguistic university to translate legal texts and documents into Russian. Topicality of the study is due to the construction of the rule of law in Russia, which requires the coordination of individual legal documents with the norms of international law. This raises the problem of accurately translating their content from a foreign language into a native language, since a characteristic feature of such documents is that they are presented, as a rule, in a strict and scientific language that does not allow for ambiguous interpretation. Thus, the purpose of the study is to develop techniques and methods of teaching law students in non-linguistic universities to translate special legal texts. The research methodology is based on the analysis of various sources devoted to the problem of teaching translation. The authors applied the method of empirical research, the principle of the relationship between theory and practice of teaching; the concept of interdisciplinary connections in teaching is widely used. The field of application of the results obtained occurs in the practice of research and educational and pedagogic activities, in the development of courses of lectures and seminars, the corresponding textbooks in the Volga-Vyatka Institute (branch) of Kutafin University in the City of Kirov.

In Colombia, the development of communicative skills of English as a foreign language in students of Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) is considered as a priority so the professionals can face the challenges of a globalized world. This project aimed to determine the effectiveness of using CLIL approach through the academic subjects in first learning level students of a Nursing program. The research had a mixed quasi experimental design of a control group not equivalent with measurements before and after CLIL interventions, which consisted in accompanying and guidance to six teachers who instruct the seven subjects of the academic program in which the experimental group was. Along 17 applications designed from the 4C’s (Content, Cognition, Communication and Culture), and the methodology collaborative work, students showed a significant progress in using communicative and cognitive abilities according with the development performances. The used tests to evaluate students’ English level showed from the statistical data analysis, applying T-student test, that initiating the process the mean of the control group was significantly higher than the mean of the experimental group, and posteriorly to CLIL approach applications, a mean improvement of the experimental group was observed becoming statistically similar to the mean of the control group. The research results provide a pedagogical path to strengthen bilingualism processes and to contribute with graduate’s communicative competences in a foreign language.

In a recent issue of this journal (Vol.8 no.2) the paper ‘Record linkage theory and practice: an experiment in the application of multiple pass linkage algorithms’ by Charles Harvey, Edmund Green and Penelope J. Corfield described the advances the authors have made on their previously published work. By using a multiple pass methodology they increased the linkage rate between two successive polls (1784 and 1788) from one-fifth to nearly three-fifths of the voters in the parliamentary elections for the City of Westminster. This critique examines the validity of their claims with regard to the confidence levels attained.

Over the last three decades, a growing number of studies have investigated the effects of instruction on the acquisition of pragmatic features in L2. The bulk of this research has focused mainly on the teaching of English as a second/foreign language. However, instructional pragmatic studies in L2-Russian are lacking. The main purpose of our study is to contribute towards filling this gap by analysing the effects of pragmatic instruction on the acquisition of two speech acts by Italian learners of Russian. Furthermore, we aim to explore whether the Multimodal Russian Corpus (MURCO), a multimedia subcorpus of the Russian National Corpus, can be an effective tool for teaching speech acts in L2-Russian. Our research was composed of one experimental group (n = 18) and one control group (n = 11); each was composed of two intact classes of Italian university students at an intermediate level of L2-Russian, who were pre- and post-tested using a written discourse completion task. The experimental group was subjected to a programme of pragmatic instruction – eight thirty-minute MURCO-based lessons devoted to requests and advice, while the control group was taught according to the standard syllabus, that is, with no pragmatic instruction. The results revealed that the use of the target pragmatic features varied significantly in the experimental group, but not in the control group, thus showing a general positive effect of the instructional treatment based on the MURCO corpus. However, some limitations were identified with regard to the usability of this tool by teachers and learners.
