In order to realize the information management of college English learning, im-prove the management efficiency of college English teaching, and reform the tra-ditional applied teaching mode, this paper proposed to design a college English online learning system, which uses Browser/Server (B/S) as the architecture, JSP technology as the programing language, and MySQL database technology as the data storage and management database. Then, this paper fully analyzed the re-quirements of network English teaching and management and the demands of system users. On this basis, functional module, database design and overall sys-tem architecture were designed, with the relevant interface displayed. The design and implementation of the system can improve the efficiency and quality of Eng-lish teaching and effectively advance the teaching level of college English, which can be applied into extensive fields.

Nowadays computers are becoming smaller and more powerful, they are put into use in many areas, and one of the important implementations is the assistance with language learning, which is called CALL. In China, college English teaching has experienced lots of frustrations and difficulties. At the end of 20th century, the mode of CALL gradually appeared in China, but it was still immature and not systematic. At the beginning of 21th century that CALL was carried out extensively in China. During this period, many universities and colleges have tried experiments on online learning and many of them have got quite fruitful achievements. Henan Polytechnic University is one of them. After careful consideration, the university decided to adopt the English online learning system produced by Higher Education Press to carry out a comprehensive college English teaching reform in the non-English majors’ students, who are freshmen and sophomores. In the four academic semesters, students have 4 periods of classroom-based learning and another 2 periods of online learning every week. So far, the university has worked on the experiment for 10 years, and now, it is the high time to check the students’ attitudes toward English online learning. Only in this way can we get the valuable first-hand suggestions to improve online learning mode.

With the advent of computers in education, and the ample availability of online learning and practice environments, enormous amounts of data on learning become available. The purpose of this paper is to present a decade of experience with analyzing and improving an online practice environment for math, which has thus far recorded over a billion responses. We present the methods we use to both steer and analyze this system in real-time, using scoring rules on accuracy and response times, a tailored rating system to provide both learners and items with current ability and difficulty ratings, and an adaptive engine that matches learners to items. Moreover, we explore the quality of fit by means of prediction accuracy and parallel item reliability. Limitations and pitfalls are discussed by diagnosing sources of misfit, like violations of unidimensionality and unforeseen dynamics. Finally, directions for development are discussed, including embedded learning analytics and a focus on online experimentation to evaluate both the system itself and the users’ learning gains. Though many challenges remain open, we believe that large steps have been made in providing methods to efficiently manage and research educational big data from a massive online learning system.

For more than a year, the way people work and learn witnessed dramatic changes on the back of the Covid-19 pandemic. While workers were supported and provided with trainings and a variety of sources of information, students did not benefit from the same ‘privilege’. In Romania, students had to adapt to online learning system since March 2020. To properly assess the impact of online learning on students’ health (both physical and mental), the authors conducted a study on students at Politehnica University of Timisoara. As part of this study, subjects were assessed using ‘Rapid Office Strain Assessment’ (ROSA). While some of them learn in ergonomic conditions, there are others exposed to high postural risk (primarily generated by use of inappropriate furniture). This assessment is part of a larger ergonomic intervention focused on educating students on the importance of creating ergonomic conditions at home with the aim to improve quality of life.

College English teaching evaluation is an important step to improve the quality of teaching and to promote students' development and assessment of teachers' performance, which is characterized by many factors and multidimensional structure. The current college English teaching evaluation method faces such problems: fuzzy evaluation criteria, subjective judgment and the difficulty to quantify evaluation results. Based on cloud theory, this article will explore college English teaching evaluation, and establish a comprehensive evaluation model based on cloud gravity center by using weight deviation to measure the quality of teaching. This article will also build an inter-relationship mapping between qualitative and quantitative evaluation, which supports the whole process of comprehensive evaluation with the combination of qualitative and quantitative indexes. Finally this article gives an example of specific application of this method.
