Educational Leadership for the Technology Enhanced Learning World

PC-games, video-games, serious-games, educational games, and online-games are forerunners of Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) tools we will exploit in myriad ways in the future on a variety of novel platforms. These developments challenge ideas of how to prepare educational leaders and curriculum developers to create and apply effective and meaningful learning tools in this rapidly changing environment. This chapter examines the impact on educational leadership of these phenomena compared with previous instructional designs, including e-learning. With these insights, it also examines the infrastructure needed to expedite cross-disciplinary practice in research and educational communities to create tools for 21st century learning.

These are forerunners of Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) we will exploit in the future in myriad ways. This article examines these phenomena along with their conceptual frameworks as compared with e-learning and other instructional designs. It also offers ideas on how we can prepare future developers to create more effective and meaningful learning tools by integrating playful experiential learning with inter-disciplinary practice. Finally, it briefly discusses the infrastructure needed to expedite such cross-disciplinary practice in research and educational communities to create tools for twenty-first century learning.

This chapter emphasizes the variety of today’s e-learning systems. They have both positive and negative characteristics. Several useful tools are common for these systems. The main part of this chapter contains a detailed description of e-learning systems and their tools. If a system is appropriate for the needs of the learner then it has more intelligent behavior and its tools are more specialized. Some systems have separate tools that act as standalone applications. Others contain built in tools. In this chapter, the e-learning tools are grouped by their functions. Owing to standardization efforts, the differences between the e-learning tools become their advantages, and the e-learning systems become interoperable. The intelligent learning management systems (ILMS) become a new way to integrate the benefits of the different e-learning systems. At the end of the chapter there is a short description of an ILMS named Multitutor. This represents a possible way of future e-learning systems development.

Technology enhanced learning applications are used more and more in terms of curriculum in primary and secondary education as it has been shown that they have a positive impact to the learning outcome of youngsters. However, for tertiary education this is not the case, since more traditional methods of teaching are still dominant. Despite this fact, there are cases in which e-tools have been proven to be valuable for tertiary education, especially when the shortage of personnel and adequately equipped laboratories can become a serious obstacle for the teaching process. The recent pandemic has proven that technology can offer a unique channel for keep delivering lessons, seminars, and organizing meetings. Innovative interfaces can offer access to remote labs and offer the opportunity to deliver laboratory classes. The impact of the implementation of such e-tools has been carefully investigated using a large number of tertiary students (n > 100) and useful conclusions have been drawn, highlighting that the educational value of technology enhanced learning tools is generally underestimated in the field of tertiary education, especially, nowadays, that the pandemic has highlighted the added value of remote laboratories in the teaching process.

E-learning is one of the major applications of Multimedia in Education. Lots of research has been taken place to find out the best possible solution which is simple and convenient to implement in the education system. This research paper analyses the importance of designing and implementing e-learning solution for school education in Oman. The outcome will suggest a project which will be about converting the traditional education at School to technological education by using LiveCode Community 7.1.3 which is a free open source software. In this research paper, we will focus on various e-learning solutions apart from educational games and we will discuss, why it is important to enhance the learning experience especially in school education of Oman.

This comprehensive study to review the technology impact during the COVID-19 pandemic that elucidates the overarching of technology usage to technology enhanced learning which assisted to enhance the behavior intention to use technologies among undergraduates. Recently, higher education institutions suffer from the impact of using emerging technologies with electronic learning during COVID-19 pandemic for improving student academic performance in higher educational institution. The main purpose in this study is to determine the impact of technology enhanced learning that allow the students to emerge technologies and software's to develop their skill and improve their academic performance. The method should influence critical instructions in the way of online learning through the COVID-19 pandemic.  The results revealed that the unique features of TEL spur and encourage the behavior intention to use e-learning. Additionally, social learning, perceived deterrents, and internal controls contribute to behaviors.

In the last two decades, technology has evolved at a great pace and has influenced almost all spheres of life and education is no exception to it. Nowadays, most of the educational institutions are using various tools and equipments to impart education to the students. This paper has tried to explore the impact of e-education tools on thestudents in higher educational institutions. The sample consists of students enrolled in higher educational institutions. Both quantitative and qualitative methods have been adopted for data collection including questionnaires, semi-structured &open-ended interviews. Use of computer and internet was found to be one of the most important e-learning tools. The findings are expected to assist the higher educational institutions in framing their policies to impart quality education to the students.

Community colleges have embraced distance education as a means to provide increased flexibility and access to their large numbers of non-traditional students. Retention rates and student achievement measures alone may not reflect all of the benefits and opportunities that online learning, blended or hybrid learning, and technology-enhanced learning may afford these students. Online learning resources should be viewed as a tremendous value-added benefit for community college students, not only for the content conveyed, but also for fostering the digital readiness, cultivating the professional personas, and encouraging the self-directed learning needed to succeed in the digitally-driven workplace.

This chapter aims at presenting the results of an empirical study, linking the fields of technology-enhanced learning (TEL), Web 2.0 technologies and organizational learning, and their impact on the financial and non-financial business performance. The chapter focuses on the presentation of the conceptualization of a structural model that was developed to test the impact of technology-enhanced learning and Web 2.0 technologies on the organizational learning and business performance of companies with more than 50 employees. The paper provides detailed definitions of technology-enhanced learning, Web 2.0 technologies and technical terms related to it, its scope and the process of organisational learning, as well as a method for business performance assessment. Special attention is given to the findings related to the observed correlations between the aforementioned constructs. The results of the study indicate a strong impact of ICT and technology-enhanced learning on organizational learning and the non-financial business performance.
