The creative design sector is still at preliminary development stage in China. Internally, the sector faces deficiencies in design philosophy, transformation techniques, industrial chain communication, talents, and comprehensive administration. Externally, it has to deal with unfavorable environment. In order to find a way out, this chapter proposes a roadmap of sustainable development which comprises erecting a public service platform integrating system and establishing third-party public service platforms. The goals are to facilitate healthy development of China's creative design sector, chase up the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry, enhance creative design competency, foster micro and small startups of creative design business, help them to pick up market shares and enhance design competitiveness, and ultimately drive the transformation and upgrading of regional economy.

As the world’s largest developing country, and as the home to many of the world’s factories, China plays a crucial role in the sustainable development of the world economy regarding environmental protection, energy conservation, and emission reduction issues. Based on the data from 2003–2015, this paper examined the green total factor productivity and the technological progress in the Chinese manufacturing industry. A slack-based measure (SBM) Malmquist productivity index was used to measure the bias of technological change (BTC), input-biased technological change (IBTC), and output-biased technological change (OBTC) by decomposing the technological progress. It also investigated the mechanism of environmental regulation, property right structure, enterprise-scale, energy consumption structure, and other factors on China’s technological progress bias. The empirical results showed the following: (1) there was a bias of technological progress in the Chinese manufacturing industry during the research period; (2) although China’s manufacturing industry’s output tended to become greener, it was still characterized by a preference for overall CO2 output; and (3) the impact of environmental regulations on the Chinese manufacturing industry’s technological progress had a significant threshold effect. The flexible control of environmental regulatory strength will benefit the Chinese manufacturing industry’s technological development. (4) R&D investment, export delivery value, and structure of energy consumption significantly contributed to promoting technological progress. This study provides further insight into the sustainable development of China’s manufacturing sector to promote green-biased technological progress and to achieve the dual goal of environmental protection and healthy economic growth.

This article investigates how platformisation changes the practices of content production and distribution through the case of the web series, Druck (tr. Pressure (2018–), for the public service content network ‘funk’ (ARD and ZDF). An analysis of the German adaptation of the Norwegian television and web series Skam (tr. Shame) (NRK3, 2015–2017) shows how public service broadcasting (PSB) in Germany is changing due to the influence of social media. To reach a younger audience, PSB has to meet them on third-party platforms. Consequently, PSB must provide content that fits the mobile media environment of social media.

Environmental impact assessment report is the primary document required to assess sustainable issues of any business/commercial activity, but it is most often overlooked for serious anomalies in its presentation to the public. It is most often incomplete and there is a need to review the standards of impact assessment procedures that help preserve environmental integrity among developing nations. The absence of sanctions for improper assessment of environmental, social and economic impacts of commercial activities, including extraction of natural resources by domestic and multinational corporations undermines sustainable development across the globe. The procedures in place to study various impacts of a business activity that enable access to genuine, verifiable and actionable information by the public require review and oversight by a third-party institution. The standardization of procedures and universal harmonization of enforcement and compliance regulations by nations has to become a topic for debate at various academic levels to gain importance. Essentially, EIA reports in large infrastructure projects serve as a blueprint for low carbon economies. Developing nations ignore vital provisions relating to the listing and analysis of alternatives in their attempt to meet developmental goals. Environmental protection is to maintain the ecological integrity of habitats and ecosystems. EIA reports, ultimately, aim at conserving and replenishing the reserves of natural resources. Judicial law has played an important role in highlighting the importance of alternatives in EIA. It is therefore important as how developing nations use the provision for the alternative analysis within their environmental laws. This paper will discuss EIA under the auspices of International law relating it to Sustainable Development. It shall emphasize the significance of providing alternatives in large infrastructure projects that have enviro-social impacts including transboundary effects and how the use of “no-action” alternative helps preserve and conserve a nation’s resources, reducing negative impacts Keywords: NEPA, CEQ, Impact Assessment, Alternatives Assessment, Alternatives Analysis, no-action alternative, hydropower, mega dams.

The article considers the main features of managing the sustainable development of the region's economy, which includes a predominant type of economic activity (PVCC). It is shown that in the current conditions, firstly, the process of planning the development of the regional economy is based on cascading, and secondly, when creating a scheme for interaction between the subjects of the economy, the main tasks are focused on improving the sustainability of the region's development, taking into account the resource restructuring of the dominant type of economic activity; thirdly, in order to involve PVCD in sustainable development of the region, the possibilities of using this type of activity as the driving force of changes are taken into account. Also, the article describes the enlarged list of ways to manage the sustainable development of the region's economy with PVC, presents a map of approaches to managing sustainable development of the economy of the Lipetsk region, with the predominance of the type of economic activity "Processing industries", and an author's algorithm for selecting the priority direction for the development of the region's economy with PVC. The analysis of the stability of products according to the types of economic activity of the Lipetsk region was carried out, on the basis of which a conclusion was made about the prospects of economic activities for balancing PVC. The most widespread restrictions of development of economy of region with prevailing type of economic activity are presented.Purpose; to formulate recommendations on the analysis of economic activities and the choice of products that will reduce the dependence of the region's economy on PVC.Methods: the scientific results are based on the main provisions of the neoclassical institutional theory, the principles of sustainable development and the basic postulates of the regional economy. The article uses comparative, analytical and economic-statistical methods. Results: formed a consolidated list of ways to manage the sustainable development of the region's economy with PVC, described the opportunities for choosing approaches to managing sustainable development of the economy of the Lipetsk region, with the predominance of the type of economic activity "Processing industries'", an algorithm for selecting the priority direction for the development of the region's economy with PVC, transformer rolling, anonymous expert questioning of the sustainability of economic activities of the Lipetsk region, the most common restrictions on the development of the region's economy with the predominant type of economic activity are revealed. Conclusions and Relevance: the practical importance of the developed methodological provisions lies in the possibility of their application to analyze possible directions for improving the sustainability of economic development in specific regions. In particular, for the Lipetsk region, the most potential for sustainability are the types of economic activities "Transport and Communication", "Agriculture, Hunting and Forestry".
