Due to increased awareness of human’s adverse effect on the environment, many new technologies to mitigate the environmental damage are under development. Although innovative, many of these technologies are often developed in isolation and consequently incompatible with each other. From the viewpoint of Systems Engineering, this presents an enormous challenge since compatibility among different elements of a system is crucial in achieving an optimal operational state that minimizes energy consumption. Therefore, standardization in the form of protocols is a key to accomplishing the goal of green Information and Communication Technology (ICT). In this chapter, the authors examine the existing green ICT technologies and their protocols to identify both obvious and subtle strengths and weaknesses. Particularly, the authors scrutinize the interoperability of the existing green ICT protocols and provide insights on how to improve the status quo. In addition, information on emerging governing bodies of green ICT protocols is provided.

The goal of this research is to use information and communication technology (ICT) to develop so-called “virtual field trip” s ystem and the software follows the principles of the anchored instruction, whereby we can design a worksheet for outdoor education. The system combines the anchored instruction, worksheet, and image-based VR in order to make it as a supplementary tool for students before they have a field trip and to raise their learning motivation. Besides, the research also discusses the difference between traditional outdoor education and the model mentioned above.

Microfinance has been a significant means of reducing poverty since the mid-1970s. With the economic, social, and demographic characteristics, Bangladesh has been one of the countries where microfinance interventions are notable. In Bangladesh, hundreds of microfinance organisations have been implementing microfinance programs covering almost one-third of the rural population of the country. Studies show that the proper use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) may help microfinance intervention in different ways. It may help increase operational performance, organisational upsizing, and poverty outreach, and decrease interest rate with many other organisational and social implications. This chapter looks into the Information Systems (IS) of microfinance of Bangladesh, the extent and intensity of the use of ICT, the factors that hinder the use of ICT in microfinance, the approaches to ICT management, and the emerging mobile technology-based operational model of microfinance and perceived implications of the changing landscape of ICT on this development program.

With accelerated development of information and communication technology, information has acquired the status of the most accessible and, at the same time, the most valuable resource. E-governance systems are among the main forms of introducing digital technologies into Russian companies' strategic management systems in the context of the pandemic. In this regard, one of the key performance factors when introducing such systems is providing them with management tools of both traditional risks affecting the company's operations and new types of digital risks associated with the specifics of electronic governance. In this paper, the authors intend to reveal the main features of how such new risk factors influence the logic and functional processes of the Russian companies' strategic management systems in the context of the pandemic. The paper presents the authors' description of new types of risks associated with introducing e-governance into strategic management systems.
