This chapter applies stakeholder theory in order to evaluate whether a blockchain community is demonstrating a communicational maturity in order to achieve its technical, social, and political agenda. The consistence of the mission of an organization or a community is clearly reflected in the eyes of its stakeholders. Therefore, the study adopts a qualitative lens in conducting 11 semi-structured interviews with experts that are prominent international stakeholders of the blockchain in order to gain a deeper understanding of their internalized perception about this technology and its social network. According to the results, the blockchain community members are ready to address the feasibility of their technology and its implications. They also address some aspects of the social suitability of their network. However, they do not fix clear conditions of communication and coordination to discuss the sustainability of the whole organization.

Understanding the value of research for society has become a priority, and several methodologies have been developed to assess the social impact of research. This study aimed to determine how productive interactions are developed during the execution of research projects. A retrospective study was conducted on 33 projects from 1999 to 2020. Semi-structured interviews with the technical managers were conducted to analyze how different actors of the project—researchers, government officials, and civil society and private sector stakeholders—were involved, illustrating how productive interactions occur in specific biodiversity contexts. The results revealed different levels and intensities of productive interactions; on the one hand, three projects involved all actors; eight involved researchers outside the institution; and 25 involved community members. The number of participants ranged from 2 to 37. All research evaluated had a disciplinary orientation. The type and time of interactions with other interested parties depended on the amount of funding, project type, project duration, and, significantly, on the profile of the technical manager. The importance of assessing and valuing productive interactions was identified as a fundamental element in promoting the social impact of research, as well as integrating inter- or multidisciplinary projects that impact the conservation of socio-ecological systems.

Twitter recently celebrated its 15th anniversary. During this period, the platform has gone through several phases, culminating in a record number of subscribers and profits in 2021. Twitter is a household name all over the world and people know what it can or cannot provide, independent of the future growth that it may experience with new investments and updates. This article aims to verify two interrelated hypotheses, namely: the Spanish press already knows how to optimise the social network Twitter, as three decades have elapsed since its launch; and, secondly, the algorithm modification implemented by Twitter in 2018 has triggered a change in the positioning of the headers studied in this social network. In order to demonstrate both, the object of analysis will be conducted by a mixed approach through quantitative statistical processes (which will study the number of impacts and retweets and likes obtained), and inductive qualitative methods such as semi-structured interviews. This multidisciplinary approach will provide a more complete and in-depth analysis of the phenomenon. The research focuses on the period between 2018 and 2020, and addresses the participation on Twitter of the four main traditional newspapers (El País, La Vanguardia, ABC and El Mundo) as well as four native digital newspapers (20 Minutos, El Español, elDiario.es and El Huffpost). The analysis comprises more than 1.5 million tweets among the eight chosen newspapers.

Social networks provide companies with great opportunities to build relationships with consumers. Currently, almost every company has their own brand page in social networks and is trying to enhance consumer engagement. Company posts are shown to brand community members. Most researchers believe that the brand community consists only of consumers. However, based on the service-dominant logic of marketing, the brand enters into relations not only with consumers, but also with other stakeholders, including employees of the company, who can be members of the brand community in the social networks. In this research, we focus on FMCG retailers brand community. The algorithm of Facebook social network ensures the dependence of consumer engagement on employee brand engagement. Retail marketers need to use content to influence not only consumer engagement, but also employee brand engagement, expressed in likes, comments and shares. The author analyzes 460 Facebook posts made by 5 Russian FMCG retailers’ brands during a 6-month period. A theory-based typology of content characteristics was made and it covers of what brands say and how they say it. This research sheds light on how content influence consumer and employee brand engagement in social networks.

This study aimed to identify the (in)visibility of nursing care and discuss ways of (dis)articulating this care with family care in the social network of children with special healthcare needs. A qualitative research was performed with health professionals at a pediatric hospital, four units of the Family Medical Program (FMP), and children’s relatives living in Niterói (RJ). The field work was put in practice after IRB approval (HESFA/EEAN), consisting of five semi-structured interviews and two group dynamics. Critical Discourse Analysis indicated that nursing care is visible in the child’s social network through the nurse’s educational and care activities and home visits by the nurisng aide of the FMP. Due to errors in the national health system’s referral and counter-referral, mothers articulate the network and not the health service; thus, the reorganization of the system in the State would foster social networks that are less wearing for their families.

ABSTRACT Objective: To describe the social network of adolescents who need special health care. Method: A qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study conducted between 2016 and 2017 in the pediatric outpatient clinic of a teaching hospital in southern Brazil. Thirty-five semi-structured interviews were conducted with adolescents between 12 and 18 years of age, followed by the construction of genograms and ecomaps. After transcription, the enunciations were subjected to Pêcheux’s method of discourse analysis. Results: The institutional network consists of health services, schools and religious entities, as well as adolescents’ families and friends. In the family network, women family members—such as mothers, grandmothers and aunts—have a special role. Final Consideration: The adolescents’ social network is composed of institutional and family circles. In the view of adolescents, the tertiary service is more capable of solving their problems, and for this reason used the most. In order to ensure these adolescents access to and continuity of care, the articulation between health policies and health services is suggested.

This thesis examines the 2018 wildfire season in Cheslatta Carrier Nation territory through the lived experiences of community members. It details how sustained wildfire suppression contributed to changes to the social, political and the physical landscape. Using a qualitative methodology and ten semi-structured interviews with community members, it describes how historic events, including flooding and forced relocation, shaped the ways community members felt about wildfires and their management. This research found that the 2018 wildfire season impacted Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in physical, economic, and spiritual ways. The loss of timber and livelihoods as well as displacement due to evacuation orders were challenging. While many individuals felt disempowered by the wildfires and their management, wildfire was also a catalyst for political and social change. This thesis explores the ways that wildfires can unite, divide, and transform individuals and communities.

Strong social connections between communities and institutions are essential to effective community-based natural resource management. Connectivity and willingness to engage with actors across scales are related to one’s perceptions of institutions managing natural resources. To better understand how individuals’ perceptions are related to connections between communities and institutions, and how these promote or inhibit interaction across scales, we carried out a mixed methods case study on the multiple actors living and working in the Namib Naukluft National Park in Namibia. We took a descriptive approach to the social network analysis and identified distinct subgroups as well as boundary actors for the community-institutional network. Thereafter, we regressed interview data on connections, perceptions, and willingness to reach out to institutions to understand more about network dynamics. Finally, we performed a qualitative analysis of interview data, to further highlight why community individuals were connected to institutional members. Positive perceptions are associated with greater connectivity for two out of three institutions. Better quality connections between community members and institutions was equated with a greater willingness (of community members) to reach out to an institutional member in only one out of three cases. As in other studies, willingness to reach out may be more strongly correlated to intergroup actor dynamics, as shown by subgrouping in the social network analysis, than one’s perceptions alone. This research highlights that direct interactions between community members and local institutions has the potential to support collaboration in the context of community-based natural resource management.

The social mood in the online Internet community was studied during the coronavirus pandemic (global challenge) peak in Russia using the example of the social network Twitter. Such a property of social mood as its ability to reflect readiness for action, it is proposed to use this construct as a marker of the potential subject - pre-subjectivity of the network Internet community, reflecting the initial level of its organization. The method of surveys provided by the social network and elements of analysis content were used. Six surveys were conducted on the Attractiveness of the social network to obtain information on coronavirus; Changes in user mood during self-isolation; Their use of the social network to regulate their mood; Use of experience in today 's situation (conditions after the Chernobyl accident were proposed for comparison), changes in attitude towards nature due to its deficit during self-isolation; Actualization of higher feelings (optimistic triad) - faith, hope, love for the regulation of the emotional state. It has been shown that social networks are an attractive information resource compared to the media. The public mood during self-isolation has changed towards its polarization, with the positive pole showing an orientation towards interpersonal relations, and the negative one clearly showing negative emotional states. The experience of the members of the community has been updated not by the similarity of crises that cause public mood, but by the extent to which the situations compared affect or may affect everyone personally. Such an event for members of the community was war in a variety of its forms. Higher feelings during the pandemic - faith, hope, and love found a structure corresponding to the hierarchy of experiences of community members - care for loved ones (love), confidence in the correctness of the measures taken (faith) and the degree of uncertainty during the new challenge (hope). The subject of the online Internet community during the pandemic had a dynamic, dual character, corresponding to the polarization of the changed social mood, the search for ways to cope with the crisis, resistance to its inclusive nature. Practical recommendations for psycho-correction measures in situations such as the pandemic were proposed.

Aim: This study examined the barriers and opportunities in Sweden for integrating One Health practices. Sweden’s long tradition of working with One Health was used as a case to analyse persistent barriers as well as opportunities. Method: Thirteen semi-structured interviews with experts from the Swedish Veterinary Agency, Food Agency, Public Health Agency, and Environmental Protection Agency were carried out. A thematic content analysis was conducted on the interviews using inductive coding in NVivo. Results: The study revealed that while collaboration is the general aspiration across the Swedish agencies, barriers persist regarding the understanding of One Health, the integration of the environment sector and awareness of the different terminologies employed within the disciplines. There are legislative challenges and barriers to science to policy translation. Disease outbreak was identified as an opportunity for One Health integration. Conclusions: A One Health strategy needs to be developed at agency level to define One Health and clarify the roles and responsibilities. To overcome practical challenges, experts need to be aware of different terminologies and practices when collaborating. Further prospects for One Health integration include employing policy entrepreneurs to push One Health onto the political agenda. Preparations for disease outbreaks need to focus on reducing barriers to effectively integrate One Health. Experiences of One Health projects must be disseminated, and to raise awareness, education programmes must integrate One Health into curricula.
