The chapter starts with a short introduction on students’ assessment and school evaluation and the great changes investing them in last decades. Soon after the same topics are deeply analyzed with respect to results coming from educational research and to the introduction and use of ICT; as a consequence the limits of the partial application of ICT and information management to separated educational fields emerge. From the above remarks arises the author hypothesis of a paradigmatic change in education management and the consequent need for a deeper use of ICT and information systems in the management of educational data; contextually it is explained how the above change can lead to didactics’ transparency in teaching-learning processes.

The lockdown situation has hampered the learning processes to a large extent across the globe. Many educational institutes promptly adapted to the situation and moved towards online learning, and many found constraints in this sudden migration. The purpose of the chapter is to identify the impact of a pandemic on the ongoing educational activities and how these activities were carried out with the help of technology-based solutions. A comparative analysis of the traditional and modern methods of teaching-learning has been carried out to check their suitability during the pandemic time. The significance of this chapter is to describe an integrative approach of continuing online teaching-learning activities throughout the lockdown time by establishing the connection between the online teaching-learning process and the traditional classroom-based methods. The challenges offered by the online environment have been outlined from the perspective of both the educational institutes and the learners.

The term ‘teaching-learning' intrinsically expresses the ongoing learning process that every educator constantly experiences; to teach is to learn and to engage in knowledge updation continually. Indeed, it may be argued that the very basis of being a teacher is the facilitation of one's own learning opportunities and skill sets. In investigating the evolution of teaching-learning processes at CHRIST, one may define the university's growth using the key concept of ‘innovation'. Whether it be the humanities, social sciences, life sciences, or business studies, innovations in teaching-learning methods are imperative in any globally conscious education system today. Two of the key areas of focus in terms of innovations in the teaching learning process are the practical application of knowledge and learnt skills.

The definition used for learning objects considers them as any digital entity which can be used, reused or referenced during a technology-mediated learning process. Nowadays, this concept has became essential to the development of pedagogical content to be used in large scale educational projects to which are engaged a wide number of educational agents - students, teachers and faculty staff. Guaranteeing reusability of pedagogical content allows its use on different contexts. Therefore, a repository of learning objects that has a well-defined metadata structure can be used to customize learning processes. Recent researches on Learning Object have been contributing on the search of patterns for instructional content development, in order to make them adaptive, generic, portable and scalable enough to improve their potential for reusability. Besides, a wide range of virtual learning environments has been proposed to support these learning objects, with their properties and characteristics. Nonetheless, the great challenge still remains on how adaptive can a learning object be. There are several levels of adaptation that can be reached, and these levels can be established regarding to a wide range of different aspects on teaching-learning processes, varying from the need of keeping track of students’ evolution on building a specified piece of desired knowledge, until their learning styles, a multi-dimensional measure that are not only individual-dependant, but are also influenced by a range of factors so diverse as environment, inter-relational issues and psychological aspects related to how a student deal with certain sort of knowledge to be constructed, or skill to be developed. An architecture for learning objects repositories that intends to be general enough to support different pedagogical approaches and adaptation levels is presented. Such architecture is based on five different but co-related tiers: Syllabus Tier, which encapsulates all organization of learning objects that persist on the Reusable Learning Objects Tier. To select and present these objects in a way that adaptation to students’ background, learning styles and temporal motivation is responsibility of Apprentice Model Tier and Learning Styles Tier, that together drive Presentation Tier to dynamically built the most adequate interface to each student. Therefore, multiple presentations for the same learning object can make learning process more significant to students.

Laboratory training and exercises provide hands-on experience to the students. However, the limitations in the laboratory facilities in the engineering colleges may affect the teaching and learning process of the future engineers. Hence, Government of India has started an initiative called Virtual Lab to overcome this issue. The premier institutions in India were funded and these institutes are the nodal centre in providing virtual lab facilities to colleges which do not have sophisticated laboratory facilities. The advancement in IT and internet facilities can no more hamper students and researchers in enhancing their skills and knowledge. Also, in a country such as India, costly instruments and equipment need to be shared with fellow researchers to the greatest extent possible. This chapter discusses and highlights the Virtual Lab initiatives and implementations.

This paper presents an experience report of the active methodology “Teaching with Research” with the goal of improving the teching-learning process. The basic principles of this methodology were utilized as basis for the teaching planning for the Information Systems course in an informatics technician class. Two research projects were elaborated as guiding elements of the teaching-learning process (according to the adopted methodology). As reflections regarding the methodology application experience, it could be noticed increased participation of the students during the class activities. The professor has a modified role towards the students: acting like an advisor, guiding the developed research activities inside the classroom. With respect to the learning evaluation methods, it happened an increased valorization of the research path coursed by the student, mainly due to the methodologic organization of the proposed activities (based on the steps of scientific method).

Creativity is one of the most appreciated learning skills current the XXI century. The development of creativity has been considered essential in order to achieve an effective and a high-level learning. As different approaches to its study, creativity has been defined as a result, as a process, as a construct derived from the influence of the context and of the experience and as a personality feature of human nature. The aim of this contribution is to explain the study of creativity from the mentioned approaches to achieve a comprehension of such construct. In addition, the focus has been centred on highlight the development of creativity from an educational approach, starting from the description, implication of the use and application of creative strategies in the teaching and learning processes. Finally, a brief description is made of the most important or relevant strategies found in the literature, with emphasis on the incorporation of these strategies in the problem-solving process.

School is the place where younger generations are educated both intellectually and characteristically. Through schooling, students are projected to able to develop their potential so that they are capable of living independently in society and pursue higher education. To achieve this objective, students are required to establish, among others, the character of discipline and responsibility since both knowledge transfer and character building are inseparable in teaching-learning processes. During the pandemic, however, the teaching-learning process is facing a new challenge by which both teachers and students must carry the process through online courses. Alternatively, the character of discipline and responsibility can be introduced to students through procedure texts. Procedure text is a type of text whose purpose is to instruct in how to do something through a sequence of steps. Procedure text requires students to ‘get something done’ by the mean of strictly following the steps prescribed in the text. This qualification demand students performing the character of discipline and responsibility so that the goal could be achieved accordingly. Moreover, the teacher are to build the character of discipline and responsibility from an early age. Students' discipline and responsibility improvement necessitate students' awareness as well as both parents' and teachers’ guidance.
