Individualised open and distance learning at the university continuing education and post-graduate education levels is a central issue of today. The advanced information and communication technologies together with several applications offer new perspectives, such as the so-called virtual university. Simultaneously, to gain market share, several organisational arrangements are emerging in the virtual university field, like consortia arrangements and joint venture initiatives between and among institutions and organisations. The dynamically changing social and economical environment where we live claims for new approaches to virtual and flexible university continuing and post-graduate education, such as the concept of Agile/Virtual University proposed by the authors. However, the implementation of this concept (and of other similar concepts) does not rely just on basic information and communication infrastructure, neither on dispersedly developed applications. Although absolutely necessary as support, the added value comes from the higher-level functions to support individualised learning projects. The implementation of the Agile/Virtual University concept requires a framework and a specific supporting environment, a Market of Teaching Resources, which are discussed in the article.

Abstract At a time when the advances in information and communication technologies meant that new approaches to virtual teaching and learning could be proposed, the teaching staff on the degree in Translation and Interpreting at UVic decided to offer part of the degree in distance learning mode. This learning mode was launched in the 2001–2002 academic year, with optional face-to-face teaching sessions some Saturdays and coexisted with the traditional face-to-face courses. During the first years, the fourth-year interpreting specialisation subjects were not taught online for technical and pedagogical reasons. Since the 2014-2015 academic year, we also teach these subjects online. The challenge that we face starting the 2017-2018 academic year is twofold: 1. To adapt the online teaching of interpreting subjects to groups with a high number of students in the new Inter-university Degree in Translation, Interpreting and Applied Languages jointly offered by the University of Vic and the Open University of Catalonia (UOC). 2. To adapt the contents and methodology of interpreting subjects to changes in professional practice: telephone and videoconference interpreting, especially in liaison interpreting. In our paper, we will show some online teaching resources, as well as several online tools which we use in our courses.

The purpose of this work is to analyze the methodology developed in the Educational Innovation Project PIE13-025 implementation. The methodology aims to promote the ICT tools (Information and Communication Technologies) use by means of the Campus Virtual platform. The subjects set in which the methodology is applied belongs to the Area of “Manufacturing Engineering”, being all of them taught in the majority of the technical degrees within University of Malaga and Andalusia Tech. When the distinguishing characteristics of these contents have been identified, two specific teaching resources have been considered to be the best of the Manufacturing Engineering: “Thesaurus” and “Graphipedia”. Both can be developed using the Campus Virtual tools and other external applications.

Information and communication technologies offer us new possibilities to improve the way we develop our own work as both educators and researchers. In this paper we have stressed the particular case of their application to a Spanish Distance Learning University, the UNED, by emphasising the peculiarities of a distance learning traditional university, different from a virtual university or a traditional one that wants to use these technologies. First we offer a general vision about the University’s main objectives, main procedures and traditional information systems used. Second we show the change of the situation when the University decided to implement new technological tools as Internet and the WebCT. We pay a special attention to how these tools are trying to solve the specific situations that a university with these special characteristics faces.

Within the last years, the utilization of ICT has developed within the different education levels and particularly in universities that these count with new technological resources much advanced within the particular case of the university during which the investigation is developing the study is, to enhance the Educational Learning process implementing a replacement adoption model of ICT, with which it´s possible to offer a solution to the educational process. A methodology is realized of study supported the systematical Review of the literature of the models of the ICT citing as an example the primary model that there appeared the Model TAM who was developed by [1] and of the Web 2 and Web 3 and therefore the ICT within the Universities of the planet. The investigation threw the results expected with the creation of the new model of adoption of ICT, with the utilization of collaborative hardware during a Learning Environment (CLE) for creating the constructs, alpha of Cronbach, variance, and interrelations and therefore the use of statistical software because the Minitab validated the raised hypotheses. Educational Technologies are very important nowadays for the Development of each country.

Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are key to create sustainable higher education institutions (HEIs). Most researchers focused on the students’ perspective, especially during the online teaching caused by COVID-19; however, university teachers are often forgotten, having their opinion missing. This study’s objective was to determine the factors that contribute to the inclusion of ICTs. The research based on a comparative study through an online qualitative survey focused on the inclusion and use of ICTs in two HEIs and two different moments (pre-and post-lockdowns). There were differences regarding country and working experience (p < 0.001), being linked to the ICTs use, evaluation of obstacles, and the role given to ICTs (p < 0.05). The COVID-19 caused modifications of the teachers’ perspectives, including an improvement of the opinion of older teachers regarding the essentialness of ICTs in the teaching process (p < 0.001) and worsening their perception about their ICTs skill (p < 0.05). Additionally, an initial model focused only on the university teachers and their use of ICTs has been proposed. In conclusion, the less experienced university teachers used more ICTs, identified more greatly the problematic factors, and considered more important the ICTs, with the perception of all teachers modified by COVID-19.

This article discusses the problems of ever-increasing demands on the organization and quality of the educational process on the part of society. Today there are new opportunities for the comprehensive development of students of the XXI century, new, more effective information and communication technologies (ICT), in particular cloud- oriented learning environments (COLE), are developing rapidly. The problems of the development of theoretical and methodological foundations for designing a cloud-oriented educational environment of the university and the justification of the structural scheme of its interaction with the methodological center of the ministry based on the use of cloud technologies are analyzed. It is necessary to introduce such models of the learning environment, which will allow to fully satisfy the demands of teaching staff on the organization and conduct of classes of a new type, the activation of educational activities of students, the formation of digital competence and the comprehensive development of personality. Such opportunities are provided by the use of a cloud-based educational environment of the university.

This article is an integrative review regarding the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for teaching Dentistry. Thus, the article aimed to analyze papers that show the use of these technologies as resources and tools for learning. The stages in the elaboration of this integrative review were: establishing the guiding question and aims of the study, establishing the inclusion and exclusion criteria for articles, defining the research instrument and information to be extracted from the articles selected, results analysis, and discussion. For this, bibliographical data was collected from the SciELO, ColecionaSUS, and Periódicos CAPES databases in the search for articles published in the last five years, written in Portuguese, and containing the following keywords in Health Sciences: “education in dentistry”, “dentistry”, “dentistry informatics”, “distance learning”, and “education”, and which were related in context to the topic of study. Eleven articles were selected as the results, which were analyzed using the data collection instrument. It was concluded that the current technologies used as teaching resources and tools contribute as allies for improving ways of teaching and learning, particularly in the area of dentistry, in a way that makes courses more interactive and dynamic, and adding personal and technical skills to the profiles of the professionals trained.

The purpose of this study is to present a diagnosis of the level of development of the informational and digital competencies that the postgraduate students of the University Center of the North (CUNorte) possess. These two variables of Information Literacy are evaluated through a questionnaire organized in five dimensions: capacity, access, evaluation and use of information; and basic notions in the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The results show evidence of some of the competencies acquired by students and graduates of postgraduate courses, however there are opportunities to strengthen their disciplinary development and facilitate their research processes. The answers provided by the students and their consecutive analysis highlight the need to complement the diagnosis using other techniques to assess the knowledge and skills that make up the informational and digital competencies whose development is evaluated. Regarding the contribution of the study, considering the factor analysis of the component matrix rotated in the instrument, it is summarized that it is feasible to develop a diploma that provides the necessary tools to enrich the aforementioned competencies.
