Towards Efficient Trust Aware E-Marketplace Frameworks

In the liberalized and deregulated e-marketplace some key factors for service providers’ success are the following. First, the efficiency with which services will be developed. Second, the quality level, in relation with the corresponding cost, of new services. Third, service providers’ reliability with respect to service provisioning. Fourth, the efficiency with which the services will be operated (controlled, maintained, administered, etc.). The aim of this paper is, in accordance with efficient service operation objectives, to propose enhancements to the sophistication of the negotiation functionality that can be offered by e-commerce systems in open competitive communications environments. In the highly competitive and dynamic emarketplaces, Service/Product Requestors (SPRs) should be provided with mechanisms that enable them to find and associate with the most appropriate Service/Product Providers (SPPs), i.e., those offering the desirable quality of service / product at a certain time period, in a cost efficient manner. Such mechanisms may entail a wide variety of negotiation mechanisms, including auctions, bilateral (1 to 1) and/or multilateral (M to N) negotiation models and strategies, as well as posted offer schemes (i.e., a nonnegotiable, take-it-or-leave-it offer) in order to establish the ‘best’ possible contract terms and conditions with respect to service / product access and provision.

The optimal Site selection operation is one of the most important challenges facing planners. Many location-allocation models have been developed based on multi-criteria decision making process. Recent methods take into account site, network, and user characteristics to determine the appropriate location. The development of optimum system has been a growing focus for most authorities across the world. It is generally thought that utlities allocation is the ultimate goal for service providers, which has been attributed to giving assistance in a time- and cost-efficient manner. In this paper, a multi-criteria decision making approach was implemented in two steps. Analytical hierarchy process (AHP) was adopted in the first step to determine the criteria weights. Results of AHP showed that response time had the highest weight among other criteria. Ranking of different alternatives was conducted in the second step using RAFSI model to choose the optimal location. Model ranking clearly indicated road-network as the best alternative to locate EMS centers.

An accurate assessment of the required staffing level for the specific time period is an integral part of the hospital budgeting and planning process. Daily fluctuations of patient census create staffing planning challenges to many organizations. There is a growing trend for hospitals to use data analytics for determining the optimal staffing solutions. The dynamic nature of the staffing process creates two types of issues: (1) overstaffing vs. the planned budgeted level, which hurts operations margins; or (2) understaffing, which requires costly overtime and/or premium pay that also hurts margins and causes substandard quality of care. The goal of this chapter is providing an overview and examples of application of the methodology called the “newsvendor” framework. This methodology helps developing the optimal nursing and other skill mix staffing solutions that minimize the total cost of over- and understaffing occurrences within the specified time period for the units with random patient census fluctuations.

The process of selecting proficient WSs / SPs, positioning and optimization of WSs Compositions are exigent dimensions of research with momentous entailments for the fruition of the “Web of Services” revelation. The term “Semantic WSs” follows appropriate semantic descriptions of WS functionality and a medium to facilitate programmed cogitating over WS Compositions (WSCs). The persisting model of the Semantic Web Services (SWSs) deals with the intriguing emerges like wretched forecast of best WSs and gemination of services with effective SPs, which heads to Quality level degradation on the Semantic Web. To deal the above identified issues, the anticipated research is planned to construct a model to manipulative the content similarities (semantic), consumption of a mixture of WSs and its corresponding SPs. After assessing these params, all the WSs are stratified on the basis of its consumption. Ultimately, the nominated scheme, selects the best and non duplicated copy of the WSs on the basis of its rating and placed it in the WSC. The process of detecting the duplicate copy would be performed by the Cryptographic Hash value of the Services. Mobile users desire customized bundles of services that need to be dynamically created from the service providers. However, services are unique and since unused services do not generate revenues they present a lost ‘economic rent’ for organizations that are not part of the network of service providers and, as a result, not a part of the customised bundle of services. The dynamic discovery of a bundle of individual services from such a network that meets the unique needs and constraints of the mobile user requires intelligent agent technology. Such agent technology would match personal needs of the user with the available services in a cost-efficient manner. This chapter provides a mechanism to create dynamic service bundles from ad-hoc user requirements using intelligent agents. The authors apply this technique to a mobile commerce environment and illustrate the composition of user-specific service “bundles” by intelligent agents that represent the interests of the m-commerce user. Such agent-based architectures provide users customized solution ‘bundles’ that reduce their cognitive burden, while improving the utilization of resources for organization that are part of the service provider network.

Companies, organizations and individuals use Web services to build complex business functionalities. Web services must operate properly in the unreliable Internet infrastructure even in the presence of failures. To increase system dependability, organizations, including service providers, adapt their systems to the autonomic computing paradigm. Strategies can vary from having one to all (S-CHOP, self-configuration, self-healing, self-optimization and self-protection) features. Regarding self-healing, an almost identical tool is communication-induced checkpointing (CiC), a checkpoint contains the state (heap, registers, stack, kernel state) for each process in the system. CiC is based on quasi-synchronous checkpointing where processes take checkpoints relying of control information piggybacked inside application messages; however, avoiding dangerous patterns such as Z-paths and Z-cycles; in such a regard the system takes forced checkpoints and avoids inconsistent states. CiC, unlike other tools, does not incur system performance, our proposal does not incur high overhead (as results show), and it has the advantage of being scalable. As we have shown in a previous work, CiC can be used to address dependability problems when dealing with Web services, as CiC mechanism work in a distributed and efficient manner. Therefore, in this work we propose an adaptable and dynamic generation of checkpoints to support fault tolerance. We present an alternative considering Quality of Service (QoS) criteria, and the different impact applications have on it. We propose taking checkpoints dynamically in case of failure or QoS degradation. Experimental results show that our approach has significantly reduced the generation of checkpoints of various well-known tools in the literature.

Crude oil is one of the critically needed resources. It is the main pillar supporting almost everything we rely on in daily life. Unfortunately, due to many factors, crude oil costs too much. Transportation is one of the critical factors that affect such costs. Due to many environmental risks attached to the transportation process, many countries added very high tariffs to cover any hazards during the transportation, loading, and unloading process. Logistics concerns and political conflicts are the other key factors that can massively impact the transportation cost. This paper presents an Industry 4.0-compliant PeTroShare (PTS), a blockchain-powered trustworthy, logistics-friendly, and cost-efficient crude oil trading platform. PTS is a novel ride-sharing platform that enables an anonymous exchange of crude oil between oil producers and customers, focusing mainly on the product quality, not the source of origin. In our scenario, floating crude oil tankers will hold the cargo to an intermediate position in the open ocean. PTS will match the product availability based on the location and the needed quality of the customer requests. Consequently, the time and distance travelled are minimized. Our simulation results show that enabling the anonymous sharing of crude oil products can significantly enhance system efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Abstract. The authors analyse the Lithuanian postal service market which has become open for competition since 2013, after the Law Amending the Postal Law coming into force. The main objective of the article is to identify characteristics of the Lithuanian postal service market and to formulate market penetration proposals for new entrants. The main methods employed in the article are a comparative analysis of statistical data and a sociological survey. The article starts with the literature review on the topic, the identification of major postal service providers in Lithuania, and the analysis of their key performance indicators. This section is followed by a sociological survey and an analysis of customer comments found in the online Public Register of Legal Entities aimed at identifying the shortages of the Lithuanian postal service market and fomulating proposals how to improve the quality of postal services in Lithuania. Findings of the survey suggest that the concentration of efforts on service provision to legal entities, flexibility of service prices and service quality higher than that of competitors constitute the key factors for market penetration and gaining competitive advantages.Key words: postal service, market, the quality of postal and courier services, key factors for market penetration


End the age of digitalization, data generated from numerous online and offline sources in every second. The Data are having a considerable amount of size and several properties termed as Bigdata. It is challenging to store, manage processes, analyze, visualize, and extract useful information from Bigdata using traditional approaches in local machines. To resolve this cloud computing platform is the solution. Cloud computing has high-level processing units, storage, and applications that do not depend on user devices' performance. Many users can access resources and demanded services remotely from the cloud on a pay-as-use basis. That is why users are not needed to buy and install costly resources locally. Some cloud services providers are Google, AWS, IBM, and Microsoft, and they have their Bigdata analyzing robust systems and products in a cost-efficient manner. There are many Cloud Service Providers (CSP's) having different services of Bigdata analyzing filed. However, we discuss in the paper about an excellent service BigQuery in the Data warehouse product of Google to analyze and represent numerous samples of datasets in real-time for making the right decisions within a short time.
