BACKGROUND Data visualization experts have identified core principles to follow when creating visual displays of data that facilitate comprehension. Such principles can be applied to creating effective reports for clinicians that display compliance with quality improvement protocols. A basic tenet of implementation science is continuous monitoring and feedback. Applying best practices for data visualization to reports for clinicians can catalyze implementation and sustainment of new protocols. OBJECTIVE To apply best practices for data visualization to create reports that clinicians find clear and useful. METHODS First, we conducted a systematic literature review to identify best practices for data visualization. We applied these findings and feedback collected via a questionnaire to improve the Fall TIPS Monthly Report (FTMR), which shows compliance with an evidence-based fall prevention program, Fall TIPS (Tailoring Interventions for Patient Safety). This questionnaire was based on the requirements for effective data display suggested by expert Stephen Few. We then evaluated usability of the FTMR using a 15-item Health Information Technology Usability Evaluation Scale (Health-ITUES). Items were rated on a 5-point Likert scale from strongly disagree (1) to strongly agree (5). RESULTS The results of the systematic literature review emphasized that the ideal data display maximizes the information communicated while minimizing the cognitive efforts involved with data interpretation. Factors to consider include selecting the correct type of display (e.g. line vs bar graph) and creating simplistic reports. The qualitative and quantitative evaluations of the original and final FTMR revealed improved perceptions of the visual display of the reports and their usability. Themes that emerged from the staff interviews emphasized the value of simplified reports, meaningful data, and usefulness to clinicians. The mean (SD) rating on the Health-ITUES scale when evaluating the original FTMR was 3.86 (0.19) and increased to 4.29 (0.11) when evaluating the revised FTMR (Mann Whitney U Test, z=-12.25, P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS Best practices identified through a systematic review can be applied to create effective reports for clinician use. The lessons learned from evaluating FTMR perceptions and measuring usability can be applied to creating effective reports for clinician use in the context of other implementation science projects.

Rare earths (REs) play an important role in modern life, and have been the focus of global attention in recent years. As a result, the number of scientific publications has grown enormously, increasing the need for understanding the knowledge base of various research streams and their emerging branches. The economic analysis of REs has also augmented steadily. Nevertheless, the relevant literature is rather fragmented concerning the thematic topics. To respond to this, a systematic review in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) and a bibliometric analysis were developed to offer a systematic and holistic literature review of the economic research on REs. This review incorporates studies of REs regarding aspects of supply, price, export policy, international trade, relationship with clean energy, and sustainability. The database of this review includes a set of 85 systemically selected state-of-the-art articles from five databases, including Web of Science, Science Direct, Springer, Proquest, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) that were published after the rare earth crisis, covering empirical and theory research conducted in different countries with different resource endowments. The results show that the majority of the economic research studies have been conducted in the past six years. Furthermore, among the six categories, the most popular research trend is sustainability. Some possible opportunities for future research are also illustrated in this paper.

Abstract Introduction To reduce the rate of falls in the rehabilitation ward, fall prevention program was developed and educated for physical and occupational therapists, which increased the attitude towards falls and knowledge towards fall prevention activities. Method Participants of this study include 17 therapists currently employed at a university-affiliated hospital located in Gyeongg-do, South Korea. Systematic protocol for fall prevention with the emphasis in the roles of rehabilitation teams was developed. This standardized protocol consists of educating therapists with adequate assistive device use, safe ambulation techniques, and client-centered transfer techniques. The therapists then record the paitent's status related to fall prevention and or risks, which is then shared with other medical professionals including registered nurses and medical doctors. Paper-based questionnaires regarding 9 questions on attitude towards falls and 12 questions on knowledge towards fall prevention activities were done by the participants after the education of systematic protocol. The rate of falls was then compared with the change of attitudes in participants. Rate of falls was calculated by dividing the number of fall by the patient bed days and multiplying by 1000. Result After the education of fall prevention program, the mean score of attitude towards falls significantly increased (t=-3.99, p=0.001). The mean score of knowledge towards fall prevention activities significantly increased (t=-4.79, p<0.001). The rate of falls decreased from 4.2 to 1.4. The effectiveness of systematic protocol regarding therapists' change in attitude and the resulting change in rate of falls was mainly seen in patients' ward. The decline in rate of falls was observed when patients transferred from bed to wheelchair. Conclusion In order to effectively convey the fall prevention education program, the multidisciplinary approach showed promising results in this study. Implications for future research include translation of this program to the community, such as long term care facility.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to discover the main reasons for change, why change is necessary and how library professionals can adapt to change. Academic institutions are rapidly changing around the world where libraries are facing similar challenges and adapting change is a demand for growth and improvement. Library administrators need a clear vision and strategic plan to meet the upcoming challenges, they must have self-confidence, ability to work with diversity. Library professionals need to show flexibility and a willingness to develop new skills, they also need to adopt new ways of working and dealing with the academic community. Design/methodology/approach The literature review is built on resources from offline and online full-text databases such as ProQuest, EBSCO, Emerald, Library Literature and Information Science databases. This paper is based on a systematic literature review method which includes 50 research articles and 5 print books. A total of 109 articles were collected at the beginning stage but after their analysis in detail, they were reduced to 50 articles as the rest of the articles did not exactly focus on adapting to change in academic libraries. Basic keyword and advanced searching options have been used to retrieve the relevant literature on the topic from peer-reviewed and scholarly resources. Findings Changes are the result of organizational restructuring, user expectations and accessibility to a growing range of digital content, so library professionals are under pressure to adopt change in academic libraries and introduce new services and technology. Library professionals need to change traditional ways of working and boost their knowledge and skills, collaborative attitude, redesign and policies and procedures and create a willingness to adapt to the change. Challenges can be managed if an individual has a keen interest and eagerness to keep up to date with the current knowledge and emerging trends in academic libraries. Research limitations/implications Appropriate literature on the topic was reviewed systematically, not all publications were included. Literature on this topic is relatively limited so more research and publications are needed to deal with current and future scenarios of academic libraries. Practical implications This paper offers a useful overview of the ways and approaches used to adopting change by library professionals and the approaches that can be used in the current and future settings of academic libraries. Suggestions and recommendations can be used in the field of LIS, as well as library professionals may apply in the academic and research libraries to effectively change. AbstractGoal-setting is fundamental to organisational management, yet not every manager knows how to do it well. A narrative literature review was done to explore current knowledge of definitions and classifications of goals, and principles of goal-setting in the healthcare sector. Online databases generated 65 relevant articles. Additional literature sources were snowballed from referenced articles, and textbooks. Most academic authors define ‘goal’ synonymously as ‘aim’ or ‘objective’, but there is evidence of hermeneutical confusion in general literature. Goal classifications are diverse, differing according to their contextual, structural, functional, and temporal characteristics. Many authors agree that goal-setting is problem-based, change-oriented, and can effectively motivate attainment if the goal statement is formulated with a specific and challenging or SMART framework. However, recent authors report varying definitions for SMART, and evidence of past studies that empirically examined the nature and efficacy of frameworks currently used for formulating goal statements for health programmes are lacking.

The change from a politically-sanctioned racial segregation opened support of another popularity based administration which was an overwhelming procedure at all levels. In South Africa, the positive policies to turnaround the economy of the country came along with cadre deployment policy which advocates for ANC party loyalists to occupy a prominent position in the public sector. This political patronage via state jobs leads to poor institutional quality or performance of the nation as a whole. Focusing on the significant association between the demands of economic growth and expansion, this paper assesses the effects of the cadre deployment policy against performance management in the public sector. It presents a proposed framework based on the control theories illustrating how cadre deployment and performance management can contribute to the current knowledge of the African academic and administrative environment. The article adopted an extensive review of literature which was premised on various document sources that inform cadre deployment, Auditor General Reports, Annual Reports and relevant literature on the subject. Results of this study showed that cadre deployment exacerbated corruption, poor procurement systems and wasteful expenditure and the deteriorating State of Local Government. The article calls for the review and the changes of the authoritative structure governing local municipalities in order to supplement Section (152) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa. The article further directs the ANC led government to revise the cadre deployment policy to combat the challenges of severe skills shortage and poor service delivery in various municipalities across the country as a result of nepotism, politicization and hiring unqualified labour.

The purpose of this integrative literature review was to synthesize current knowledge about the role transition from new graduate Nurse Practitioner (NP) to novice NP to increase our understanding of how to better support NP entry into practice. The NP role was implemented in the United States over fifty years ago and has proven to contribute to patient outcomes and reduced health care costs. Proper transition experience to advanced practice nursing is fundamental to these improved patient outcomes in the hospital setting. The transition from Registered Nurse to professional NP is an important and difficult adjustment to make and may affect ongoing NP practice. The following topics were reviewed: graduate NP to novice NP transition, NP perception of preparedness, and perceived challenges encountered during role transition. A search for relevant literature was conducted in the EBSCO Host and ProQuest databases and in the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), PubMed, and MEDLINE specialty databases. Ten articles were identified and 3 major topic areas were revealed in the analysis: role transition, perception of preparedness, and perceived challenges. Establishing role identity as an NP, developing professional relationships, and having effective mentorship emerged as key issues influencing the transition process. Training programs are rare. A need exists for additional support and education for new hospital based NPs as they transition from students to practicing clinicians. Future studies that focus on the transition experience after internships programs may provide insight into how to develop or modify educational programs for NPs that will improve or enhance their transition to expert practitioner practice.

BACKGROUND The information technology has transferred the paper-based healthcare sector into the digital form, where the patient information transfers electronically from one place to another. However, there are still a number of challenges and issues present in this domain because of the lack of proper standards, growth of new technologies (mobile, tablets, ubiquitous computing, etc.), and healthcare providers, who are reluctant to share patient information. Accordingly, a solid systematic literature review was conducted to understand the use of this new technology in the healthcare sector. The main purpose was to explore the relevant literature on Fast Health Interoperability Resources (FHIR) in the healthcare domain and identifies its implementation, exciting challenges, and open questions raised by us in healthcare regarding FHIR. To the best of the our knowledge, there was a lack of comprehensive systemic literature review that could focus on FHIR-based Electronic Health Record (EHR). In addition, FHIR was found to be the latest standard, but it was in the infancy stage of its development. Therefore, it was anticipated that the study under review was a hot area for us and that there were huge research opportunities in it. OBJECTIVE This paper aims mainly to explore the works in FHIR and performs a systematic review of the literatures surrounding FHIR, challenges to FHIR, implementation of FHIR, opportunities, and future FHIR applications. METHODS In January 2020, we searched articles published during January 2012 to December 2019 via all major digital databases in the field of computer science and healthcare, including ACM, IEEE Xplore, Springer, Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect. Consequently, an analysis was carried out of the systematic literature review. RESULTS As a result, we reviewed more than 8000 scientific studies published in the last eight years, selected the most significant approaches, and thoroughly surveyed the health care field related to FHIR. We identified open questions, challenges, implementations models, used resources, beneficiary applications, data migration approaches, and goals of the FHIR. CONCLUSIONS Ultimately, the literature analysis necessitated the need and role of FHIR in the healthcare domain in the near future.
