Extractive Text Summarization Methods in the Spanish Language

The quantity of information in the world is increasing every day on a fast level. This fact will be an obstacle in some situations; text summarization is involved in this kind of problem. It is used to minimize the time that people spend searching for information on the web and in a lot of digital documents. In this chapter, three algorithms were compared; all of them are an extractive text summarization algorithm. Popular libraries that influence the performance of these kinds of algorithms were used. It was necessary to configure and modify these methods so that they work for the Spanish language instead of their original one. The authors use some metrics found in the literature to evaluate the quality and performance of these algorithms.

For many years, the World Wide Web (Web) functioned quite well without any concern about the quality of performance. The designers of the Web page, as well as the users were not much worried about the performance attributes. The Web, in the initial stages of development, was primarily meant to be an information provider rather than a medium to transact business, into which it has grown. The expectations from the users were also limited only to seek the information available on the Web. Thanks to the ever growing population of Web surfers (now in the millions), information found on the Web underwent a dimensional change in terms of nature, content, and depth.

Content Delivery Network is a network of servers hosted by a service provider in multiple locations of the world so that the content could deliver from a server that is nearest to the consumer requesting for it. It has evolved to overcome the inherent limitations of the internet regarding user perceived Quality of Service (QoS) when accessing the Web Content. It has been proposed to maximize bandwidth, improve accessibility and maintain correctness through content replication. The content is distributed to cache servers and located close to the users, resulting in fast, reliable applications and web services for the users. In this paper we provide a components, technologies and comprehensive taxonomy with a broad coverage of CDNs regarding the organizational structure, content distribution mechanisms, request redirection techniques, and performance measurement methodologies.

With the conventional legacy POS payment transaction method, vendors are bound to a payment institute in their region and can only use relatively expensive dedicated or slow dial-up lines to their financial institute. This chapter covers the work to produce an architecture that shows how to reengineer traditional point of sales terminal payments in order to adapt these for payment over the Internet through Web services. With the use of Web services for payment transactions, vendors will get more freedom to choose their provider and the services they take without having to throw away their legacy applications. Given the globalization of the economy, vendors can negotiate services and fees with payment providers all over the world. Literature research and prototype tests and evaluation in this project show that transactions fees and performance of POS terminal payments transactions trough Web services can be competitive to conventional payment transactions methods and create flexibility for vendors POS terminal application. Vendor’s available Internet connections and the Web services standards in the market can be used for payment transactions. With Web services, the system can be created and changed relatively quickly and simply if the right skills are available.

A new species list of plants and lichens of Russia and neighboring countries has been developed for Turboveg for Windows, the program, intended for storage and management of phytosociological data (relevés), is widely used all around the world (Hennekens, Schaminée, 2001; Hennekens, 2015). The species list is built upon the database of the Russian website Plantarium (Plantarium…: [site]), which contains a species atlas and illustrated an online Handbook of plants and lichens. The nomenclature used on Plantarium was originally based on the following issues: vascular plants — S. K. Cherepanov (1995) with additions; mosses — «Flora of mosses of Russia» (Proect...: [site]); liverworts and hornworts — A. D. Potemkin and E. V. Sofronova (2009); lichens — «Spisok…» G. P. Urbanavichyus ed. (2010); other sources (Plantarium...: [site]). The new species list, currently the most comprehensive in Turboveg format for Russia, has 89 501 entries, including 4627 genus taxa compare to the old one with 32 020 entries (taxa) and only 253 synonyms. There are 84 805 species and subspecies taxa in the list, 37 760 (44.7 %) of which are accepted, while the others are synonyms. Their distribution by groups of organisms and divisions are shown in Table. A large number of synonyms in the new list and its adaptation to work with the Russian literature will greatly facilitate the entry of old relevé data. The ways of making new list, its structure as well as the possibilities of checking taxonomic lists on Internet resources are considered. BACKGROUND COVID-19 represents a serious threat to both national health and economic systems. To curb this pandemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a series of COVID-19 public safety guidelines. Different countries around the world initiated different measures in line with the WHO guidelines to mitigate and investigate the spread of COVID-19 in their territories. OBJECTIVE The aim of this paper is to quantitatively evaluate the effectiveness of these control measures using a data-centric approach. METHODS We begin with a simple text analysis of coronavirus-related articles and show that reports on similar outbreaks in the past strongly proposed similar control measures. This reaffirms the fact that these control measures are in order. Subsequently, we propose a simple performance statistic that quantifies general performance and performance under the different measures that were initiated. A density based clustering of based on performance statistic was carried out to group countries based on performance. RESULTS The performance statistic helps evaluate quantitatively the impact of COVID-19 control measures. Countries tend show variability in performance under different control measures. The performance statistic has negative correlation with cases of death which is a useful characteristics for COVID-19 control measure performance analysis. A web-based time-line visualization that enables comparison of performances and cases across continents and subregions is presented. CONCLUSIONS The performance metric is relevant for the analysis of the impact of COVID-19 control measures. This can help caregivers and policymakers identify effective control measures and reduce cases of death due to COVID-19. The interactive web visualizer provides easily digested and quick feedback to augment decision-making processes in the COVID-19 response measures evaluation. CLINICALTRIAL Not Applicable

A list of the most popular and useful HF/E sites will be provided, along with several critical guidelines relevant to using the WWW. The reader will gain a clear understanding of how to find HF/E information on the Web and how to successfully use the Web towards various HF/E professional consulting activities. Finally, we consider the ergonomic implications of surfing the Web.

In pantomime the Dame and comics, and to a lesser extent the immortals, are positioned between the world of the audience and the world of the story, interacting with both, forming a link between the two, and constantly altering the distance thus created between audience and performance. This position allows these characters to exist both within and without the story, to comment on the story, and reflexively to draw attention to the theatricality of the pantomime event. In this article, Millie Taylor concludes that reflexivity and framing allow the pantomime to represent itself as unique, original, anarchic, and fun, and that these devices are significant in the identification of British pantomime as distinct from other types of performance. Millie Taylor worked for many years as a freelance musical director in repertory and commercial theatre and in pantomime. She is now Senior Lecturer in Performing Arts and Music Theatre at the University of Winchester. An earlier version of this article was presented at the Conference on Arts and Humanities in Hawaii (2005), and an extended version will appear in her forthcoming book on British pantomime. Her research has received financial support from the British Academy.


This research revealed the importance of public service web portals for an e-government information system. An e-government portal is interacting with its administrators, citizens, businesses and other governments helping them increase their operations performance. The authors have developed, modeled, formulated and compared an efficient assessment framework for e-government portals. In order to accomplish such task many quantitative factors and indicators were taken under consideration; also, other frameworks have been studied and compared. The authors focused on the web portals services quantity that the interested parties should use, in order to create an well designed public services’ web portal. This research provides a framework model to evaluate the basic common digital public services that a government offers to its interactive stakeholders, so that all other countries across the world can predefine weaknesses and strengths, improve existing or formulating new e-services. The importance of the assessment framework model is thoroughly explained through the results.
