Big data is now affecting the daily lives in many different areas, such as payment system, online shopping, health services and so forth. There has no doubt that big data is able to make the lives of people more convenient to a certain extent, but it can also threaten privacy security in the meantime. In order to explore the hazardous effects of data breach on consumer behavior and understand how netizens act and feel when experiencing it, a questionnaire was completed by 110 participants. This article will demonstrate the primary issues on potential security risks on big data, especially the effects of data breach on consumer behavior by discussing the causes, solutions and ethical concerns.

Since long before computers were even thought of, data has been collected and organized by diverse cultures across the world. Once access to the Internet became a reality for large swathes of the world’s population, the amount of data generated each day became huge, and continues to grow exponentially. It includes all our uploaded documents, videos, and photos; all our social media traffic; our online shopping; even the GPS data from our cars. Big Data: A Very Short Introduction explains how big data works and is changing the world around us, the effect it has on our everyday lives and in the business world, and it considers the attendant security risks.

While big data (BD) has been around for a while now, the social sciences have been comparatively cautious in its adoption for research purposes. This article briefly discusses the scope and variety of BD, and its research potential and ethical implications for the social sciences and sociology, which derive from these characteristics. For example, BD allows for the analysis of actual (online) behavior and the analysis of networks on a grand scale. The sheer volume and variety of data allow for the detection of rare patterns and behaviors that would otherwise go unnoticed. However, there are also a range of ethical issues of BD that need consideration. These entail, amongst others, the imperative for documentation and dissemination of methods, data, and results, the problems of anonymization and re-identification, and the questions surrounding the ability of stakeholders in big data research and institutionalized bodies to handle ethical issues. There are also grave risks involved in the (mis)use of BD, as it holds great value for companies, criminals, and state actors alike. The article concludes that BD holds great potential for the social sciences, but that there are still a range of practical and ethical issues that need addressing.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought new challenges to the global community, reinforcing the role of public health in society. The main measures to combat it had (and still have) a huge impact on the daily lives of citizens. This investigation aimed to identify and monitor the population’s perceptions about how it faced this period and the impact on health, well-being, and daily life. In this study, we describe the main trends observed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of mental health status, confidence in the capacity of the health services to respond to the pandemic, and the use of health services by participants. The online survey collected responses from 171,947 individuals ≥16 years of age in Portugal, over a period of 15 weeks that started on 21 March 2020. Participants could fill the questionnaire once or weekly, which enabled us to analyse trends and variations in responses. Overall, 81% of the respondents reported having felt agitated, anxious, or sad during the COVID-19 pandemic; 19% did not experience these feelings. During the confinement period, the proportion of participants feeling agitated, anxious, or sad every day/almost every day ranged between 20 and 30%, but since the deconfinement this proportion decreased. Around 30% reported having more difficulty getting to sleep or to sleep all night; 28.4% felt more agitated; 25.5% felt sadder, discouraged, or cried more easily; and 24.7% felt unable to do everything they had to do, women more frequently than men. Overall, 65.8% of the participants reported feeling confident or very confident in the health services’ capacity to respond to the challenges associated with the pandemic, and this confidence increased over time. Concerning the people who needed a consultation, 35.6% had one in person and 20.8% had one remotely, but almost 44% did not have one due to cancellation by the service (27.2%) or their own decision not to go (16.3%). At this unusual time in which we find ourselves and based on our findings, it is essential to continue monitoring how the population is facing the different phases of the pandemic until it officially ends. Analysing the effects of the pandemic from the point of view of citizens allows for anticipating critical trends and can contribute to preventative action.

Big data is an unstructured data set with a considerable volume, coming from various sources such as the internet, business organizations, etc., in various formats. Predicting consumer behavior is a core responsibility for most dealers. Market research can show consumer intentions; it can be a big order for a best-designed research project to penetrate the veil, protecting real customer motivations from closer scrutiny. Customer behavior usually focuses on customer data mining, and each model is structured at one stage to answer one query. Customer behavior prediction is a complex and unpredictable challenge. In this paper, advanced mathematical and big data analytical (BDA) methods to predict customer behavior. Predictive behavior analytics can provide modern marketers with multiple insights to optimize efforts in their strategies. This model goes beyond analyzing historical evidence and making the most knowledgeable assumptions about what will happen in the future using mathematical. Because the method is complex, it is quite straightforward for most customers. As a result, most consumer behavior models, so many variables that produce predictions that are usually quite accurate using big data. This paper attempts to develop a model of association rule mining to predict customers’ behavior, improve accuracy, and derive major consumer data patterns. The finding recommended BDA method improves Big data analytics usability in the organization (98.2%), risk management ratio (96.2%), operational cost (97.1%), customer feedback ratio (98.5%), and demand prediction ratio (95.2%).

Nature-based therapy is a therapeutic lens that utilizes nature as a co-therapist. This approach addresses the disconnect between land and people, a disconnect that negatively impacts the mental health of many of those seeking mental health services. Consequently, this approach is now considered an effective treatment for youth and is used as a standalone approach or integrated with cognitive behavioural therapy, gestalt, or group therapy. In either case, this nature-based lens provides a bridge between traditional Indigenous practices and Western psychology. My project highlights various activities and ideas in order to incorporate nature into one’s practice as a therapist, specifically within a northern context. Information regarding benefits, ethical concerns and various types of nature-based therapy will be discussed and guide the development of the manual. The guidebook will assist those interested in nature therapy by creating a place where tangible and realistic ideas for how to incorporate it into practice are located.

Over, the years the trust of the customers for online shopping sites has increased considerably. The increase in the number of these sites on one hand has led to a fierce competition which means better and cheaper products for customers. However, at the same time customers have their privacy concerns when it comes to shopping online. Internet is changing the way consumers shop and buy goods and services and has rapidly evolved into a global phenomenon. The technology oriented factors like guaranteed quality, cash on delivery discounts and promotions are the major specific factors influencing customer’s attitudes toward online shopping. This research paper attempts to analyze the consumer behavior towards online shopping and the various factors influencing trend of online shopping.

Commuterline plays an important role for transportation planning in Indonesia, and it is essential to learn more on how to motivate people to actively use this public transportation facility. This paper presents an empirical investigation to explore different factors influencing the use of this publica transportation facility. The proposed study develops a questionnaire in Likert scale and distributes it among 374 people who had good experience of using commuterline in their daily lives. The questionnaire is designed to learn the effects of environmental, individual, consumer resources and psychological factors. Using some statistical techniques, the study has determined that psychological factors are the most important elements influencing consumer behavior to use this public transportation followed by consumer resources, product knowledge and individual characteristics.
