The study focused on university students of English and their teachers appropriating an ecological perspective into language learning and teaching during a university course. The course involved designing and putting into practice an online language project for school children in Finland and Spain. The task was expected to pose challenges as the university students had no experience of the pedagogic approach applied. Two video-recorded wrap-up discussions and the students’ final reports were selected from the data resource for closer analysis. The qualitative analysis showed how the new/ecological approach was resemiotised through multimodal (inter)actions between the participants. Experiences of complexity were collaboratively negotiated through the metaphor of ‘chaos’, first as problematic, then normalised and even a desired part of language teaching. The study bears implications for language teacher education shedding light on changing understandings for pedagogical thinking.

The present study analyzes two locative English prepositions behind and beyond from the cognitive semantic point of view. These prepositions pose a problem experienced by Iraqi undergraduates. The complexity of these two prepositions encourages the researcher to use the cognitive linguistics (CL) approach and its insights as developed by Evans and Tyler 2003 to test its validity and help the Iraqi students. The data analysis is quantitatively-based. Seventy second-year university students participate in this experimental study. The pre-test and post-test data are analyzed through SPSS statistical editor and the results show a progress of more than (0.05≤). The results of the questionnaire show a noticeable positive change in the students’ attitude toward CL approach and display the main source of difficulty that is related to perplexity in the usage of these prepositions. The effectiveness of CL approach in getting accurate comprehension of the English prepositions behind and beyond is proved by the results of this experiment.

The topicality of the article is substantiated by the significant demographic problems, which are the consequence of the transformation in traditional stereotypes of women’s reproductive behavior, the change in models of family relations, and the decline of the maternity value in the society. This determines the problem of forming readiness for motherhood in young women. The author points out that the problem of forming readiness for motherhood is not sufficiently developed from the pedagogical point of view, which contradicts to the historically established national traditions of educative teaching of motherhood in the family and in the education system. Special emphasis is placed on the reduction of readiness to become a mother among women who receive professional education and realize themselves in the profession. The potential of the educational process of the university in solving the problem of forming the readiness of female students for motherhood is indicated. The author’s understanding of the essence and structure of readiness for motherhood as a complex psychological and pedagogical phenomenon is proposed. A set of criteria and indicators of female students’ readiness for motherhood has been developed, taking into account its formation in the conditions of the university educational process. The selection of diagnostic methods is made, which allow identifying the formation of all aspects of the readiness of university students for motherhood. The studied phenomenon is characterized by the author at the high, sufficient, medium and low levels of its formation. The developed criteria and diagnostic base can be considered as the foundation for conducting the ascertaining stage of the pedagogical experiment, analysis of the reasons that negatively affect the unfinished level of formation of readiness for motherhood in female students, and determining the pedagogical conditions for the effective formation of the studied phenomenon in the educational process of the university. Keywords: motherhood, readiness for motherhood, educational training, educational process of the university, criteria and diagnostic basis for the study of the university students’ readiness for motherhood

This study aimed at exploring and theorizing the role of Jordanian Universities in supporting innovation among university students within the context of education for sustainable development from the point of view of Jordanian University students. For that, the researcher adopted the grounded theory methodology by Strauss and Corbin. The study was conducted at two Jordanian Universities: the University of Jordan and Philadelphia University in the academic year (2019-2020), and the study population consisted of students from the two universities. The researcher chose (300) students from both genders from different faculties and academic years. By applying the grounded theory, the study concluded that the key category that emerged after analyzing the student’s responses describing the impact of the Jordanian Universities’ role in supporting innovation among university students for educational sustainable development is the emphasis on the need for developing proper University innovation ecosystems in their educational systems. Also, the respondents- through online interviews - have emphasized this concept of proper University innovation ecosystems. The key category of this study found that positive and negative impacts could result from applying or neglecting to apply this concept, which generated behaviors toward the concept, which could be considered as the phenomena in the current research.

This research work has aimed at investigating the level of political awareness among the Al Ain University students and the role of the university in boosting it by using the descriptive survey method. Indeed, this study has relied upon the questionnaire and the interview as research tools, as well as on the intentional sample where 10 teaching team members were interviewed to answer the third question, and on the random sample where the questionnaire was distributed among 980 students- males and females to answer the first and second questions. The findings of this study revealed that there was a considerably high level of political awareness among the university students. It was also found that there were differences in the level of political awareness among students depending on the faculty, which favoured the students belonging to faculties of humanities. The differences also favoured male students when the variable was gender and 4th year students when the variable was the year of study. In addition, the study showed that the university played 15 important roles in developing political awareness as was unanimously agreed by the members of the sample. These roles were identified by using recurrences and percentages ranging between 50 and 90%, while those with percentages lower than 50% were not taken into account.   Received: 17 December 2020 / Accepted: 26 January 2021 / Published: 5 March 2021

The study aimed to identify the satisfaction level with training programs via electronic platforms in the development of self- development skills and training for Taibah University students. The researcher has designed a questionnaire as the main tool of the study and intended to measure the degree of satisfaction about the training programs provided by electronic platforms on self- development skills and training via it. The population of the current study was all the female students who study the university like skills course, while the sample of the study consisted of 125 students who were selected randomly in the second semester of the academic year 1439/1440. A number of statistical methods have been used to reach the findings such as frequencies, means and standard deviation. The study adopted a descriptive approach. The results of the study showed that the satisfaction rate of the study sample on the role of training programs through electronic platforms in the development of self- development skills and training through them was very high, with means scores (4.3). Findings of the study revealed that there were statistically significant differences could be attributed to scientific major variable. In contrast, there were no statically significant differences that could be ascribed to students' cumulative grades. It was found that the most appropriate training programs from the point of view of the study sample were self-development skill followed by education, then economics and management. The study has concluded with many recommendations; the most important one was to increase awareness of the importance of the available training programs via e- platforms which provide plenty of knowledge to develop aptitudes and skills. The study also provided a number of suggestions.
