Due to the fundamental differences between traditional education and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and the ever-increasing popularity of MOOCs more research is needed to understand current and future trends in education. Although research in the field has rapidly grown in recent years, one of the main challenges facing researchers remains to be the complexity and messiness of the data. Therefore, it is imperative to provide tools that pave the way for more research on the new subject of MOOCs. This paper introduces a package called crsra based on the statistical software R to help tidy and perform preliminary analysis on massive loads of data provided by Coursera. The advantages of the package are as follows: a) faster loading and organizing data for analysis, b) an efficient method for combining data from multiple courses and even across institutions, and c) provision of a set of functions for analyzing student behaviors.

In recent years, students face difficulties in choosing the best content from the online distance learning of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). The emerged recommendations systems to solve this problem do not identify the student's prior knowledge broadly. From this problem, the main contribution of this work is the identification and reduction of the students' knowledge gap in MOOCs. As such, in this Master's thesis, we model and analyze the MOOCs ecosystems and propose a solution for recommending parts of courses. Based on a set of three experiments, we verify that our recommendations are accurate, useful and reliable. We also present new content to fill the knowledge gap of users as the main contribution of this work to the state of the art.

According to Kurzweil, technological singularity is the inevitable change of human civilization by all developments in technology, especially artificial intelligence. Open and distance learning systems are the systems that allow individuals to access learning materials and get education whenever and wherever they want. These systems are widely used today in programs offered by universities such as associate degree, undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as certificate programs and massive open online courses. This study discusses the technological singularity within the context of super-human and Human 2.0 concepts regarding the definition of “new human” that this phenomenon will shape, its reflections on education, and especially open and distance learning, namely open universities, and how these systems will transform. Its effects on managerial activities and managed processes in management were investigated, and suggestions have been made for restructuring management in accordance with this change and singularity in technology.

There has been much research done on online learning including research on online educational activities and methods. The use of technology is gaining rising importance in higher education due to the benefits that it brings. In terms of adopting new technologies to teaching, new forms of teaching, such as massive open online courses (MOOCs), are increasingly seen as a feasible future form of learning. The importance of MOOCs in higher education has caused debates in the computing education research. This study aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the pedagogical implications of MOOCs to higher education. Research in MOOCs is of vital importance because these courses may offer meaningful learning opportunities for those otherwise impossible through means of distance learning. The concepts of e-learning, online learning and distance learning have been previously addressed where previous research has indicated that the integration of online technologies to higher education do not automatically support learning. Many education institutions still question the sustainability of courses using extensive online technologies in higher education. The authors open up new research opportunities in a student-centered design in MOOCs incorporating a personalized learning environment to online education.

The article considers one of the most popular forms of distance learning – massive open online courses (MOOC). The number of educational content, as well as universities and platforms that develop and provide access to courses, is constantly growing. The relevance of the work is due to the fact that according to various estimates, only 5-13% of students who have signed up for MOOC courses are trained to the end. The aim of the work is to determine the quantitative variables that affect the proportion of students who complete the course. To solve this problem, classification models are used: the model of logistic regression, decision trees and random forest. The obtained results can be used to improve the educational process in online courses.

In modern education, a new format of distance learning is developing more and more rapidly - massive open online courses (MOOCs), this is especially important in times of quarantines and remote learning. The aim of the research is to study the attitude of teachers and students to MOOCs and their readiness to implement this practice in the educational process. 2145 students and 1050 teachers of higher educational institutions of the Russian Federation voluntarily took part in the study. The analysis of the survey data was made in the STATISTICA system. It has been found that more than 30% of respondents have an idea of MOOCs. It has also been determined that 31% of students and 28% of teachers are positive about the introduction of MOOCs in the educational process of universities. In addition, it has been determined that 31% of students and 23% of teachers plan to take MOOCs. Overall, the survey results showed a fairly good acceptance of MOOCs by respondents. From this, it can be concluded that in the near future, taking into account the reorganization of the educational process, MOOCs may become a worthy alternative to traditional education. It is for this that the results of this study can be used by the administration of the universities that have taken part in the survey, in order to further inform students and teachers about MOOCs. There is also a need to reorganize, revise, implement and provide an opportunity for students to study through such a form of distance learning as MOOCs.
