Location-based services (LBSs) on the basis of the ubiquity and portability in mobile devices can play a useful role in fulfilling user needs such as convenience, social networking, and digital entertainment effectively and efficiently. Users of mobile LBSs filled out a survey, which produced 200 valid samples. The results of this study demonstrated that contextual offer positively informs utilitarian value and hedonic value. Since contextual offers have more influence on utilitarian value than hedonic value, this means that contextual offers should be based on developing a more utilitarian value. Second, consumption value positively affects purchase intentions. Purchase intention is more effected by hedonic value than utilitarian value. This implies that hedonic value is more important predictor of purchase intention in mobile LBSs. Thus, the service providers should put emphasis on strengthening contextual offer to improve purchase intentions through the consumption value of mobile LBSs. This study may deliver some useful implications to both research and practice.

With the advent of the Online to Offline (O2O) era, the rise of various food delivery platforms not only provides consumers with more choices, but also allows restaurant operators to reach more potential consumers and increase their additional revenue. This study is based on theory of planned behavior (TPB), and includes the ‘utilitarian value’ and ‘hedonic value’ as research variables. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to verify the research hypotheses, and to analyze consumers’ purchase intentions toward online food delivery platforms. An online survey was also conducted, and a total of 1300 questionnaires were distributed. After excluding invalid questionnaires with incomplete answers, a total of 1082 questionnaires were deemed valid, and the effective recovery rate was 83.23%. The research results were as follows: (1) the attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control of consumers will have a significant positive effect on utilitarian value and hedonic value; (2) the utilitarian and hedonic values have a significant positive effect on purchase intention; and (3) the utilitarian and hedonic values have a mediating effect on attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and purchase intention. Based on the above results, food delivery platform operators can identify the key factors that drive consumers to use their services in order to formulate effective management strategies and create greater business opportunities for their organizations.

This study examines the impact of electronic integrated marketing communication (E-IMC) on customer buying intention. Furthermore, it explores the mediation effect of customer trust in the relationship between E-IMC and customer purchase intention. Empirical evidence was obtained from 277 mobile phone users in Palestine, and structural equation modeling applied. The findings of this study revealed that E-IMC positively impacts purchase intention. Further, each of E-IMC dimensions (online advertising, online sales promotion, and online relationship marketing) were also a significant predictor of purchase intention. The findings also revealed that the positive relationship between E-IMC and purchase intention is mediated by customer trust. We conclude with a theoretical contribution, managerial implications, limitations, and suggestions for future studies.

Service customization enables users to custom-made services for their specific needs while service providers can use custom outputs to offer superior services for their users. Less attention, however, has been paid to what factors influence individuals to customize mobile service differently and how custom outputs affect their intentions to use the services. The article proposes a new framework to examine the effects of information seeking and user experience on service customization (service configuration and custom outputs) and the effect of the service customization on users' intentions to adopt mobile services through the three values of mobile services–utilitarian value, hedonic value, and social value. The application-to-person short messaging service (A2P SMS) is used as the domain of study. The structural equation modeling (SEM) technique was used for data analysis. The results indicate that information-seeking and user experience regulate users' abilities to customize mobile services. Specifically, information seeking affects custom outputs while user experience affects service configuration. The results also show that custom outputs influence users' intentions to adopt mobile services through the perceived values of mobile services' utilitarian value, hedonic value, and social value. Hedonic value and social value have direct effects on mobile service adoption. This article broadens knowledge and understanding of mobile service adoption and provides guidance to service providers for effectively utilizing their customization strategies to enhance users' adoption of their services.

Personalized services can increase customer satisfaction, encourage emotional consumers, help consumers choose a product, and build relationships between service providers and consumers. This study combines the variables embedded in Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Theory Planned Behavior (TPB), shopping experience, enjoyment, and trust in a research framework model, to examine factors determiningindividual purchase intentions with personalization features on online shopping sites. This study uses primary data obtained by the online survey method. The number of samples analyzed in this study is 303 e-commerce consumers in Indonesia. This study proves that consumer purchase intentions on websites with personalization are positively and significantly related to three factors: the perceived ease of use, perceived enjoyment, and trust. Furthermore, the results also show that the utilitarian value is more influential on these factors than the hedonic value. Further implications of the research results are also discussed in this paper.

The prevalence of mobile data services has intensified competition and structured the market for mobile telecommunication services, resulting in decreased revenue particularly from voices services and high churn rate. Mobile service providers therefore seek ways to increase revenue by attracting and retaining mobile data users. This study investigates the determinants of customers’ brand choice and continuance intentions with mobile service providers in the context of mobile data service. This study also captures the impact of past experience on behavioural outcomes. Data were collected from 304 customers of mobile data service firms and analysed using regression analyses. Results indicate that mobile service quality, pricing structure and promotion, but not brand image, affect brand choice, whereas continuance intentions are affected by the mobile service quality, brand image and price. Customers’ past experience relates significantly and negatively to brand choice but not continuance intention. The contribution and implication of the study are discussed.

Purpose Wine bottles compete for consumers’ attention in the shelf during the decisive moment of choice. This study aims to explore the role that visual attention to wine labels has on the purchase decision and the mediating role of quality perceptions and desire on such purchase behaviours. Wine awards and consumption situation are used as moderators.. Design/methodology/approach The study was conducted in Portugal and 36 individuals participated in a 2 × 2 within subjects design (awarded/not awarded × self-consumption/social-consumption). For each scenario, individuals’ attention, perceptions of quality, desire and purchase intentions were recorded. Findings Data from eye-tracking shows that, during the purchase process, the amount of attention given to a bottle is determinant of individuals’ purchase intentions, a relationship that increases in significance for bottles with awards and for when consumers are buying wine for a consumption situation involving a social environment. In addition, both quality perceptions and desire are confirmed to positively influence wines’ purchase intentions. Originality/value By using an eye monitoring method, this paper brings new insights into the wine industry by highlighting the impact that wines’ labels and different consumption situations have on individuals’ attention and purchase intention. Wine producers and retailers may benefit from the insights provided by the current study to refine their communication strategies by either highlighting product characteristics and pictorial elements, as it is the case of the awards, or communicating about their products for different consumption situations.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate occurrences of confirmation bias existing for sponsors whose brand is congruent to a sport. More specifically, this research investigates: if confirmation biases for congruent brands occur in the absence of exposure, the impact audience segmentation has on sponsorship evaluations by comparing highly identified fans to non-fans, and if congruent sponsors are recalled more often than incongruent sponsors after exposure. Design/methodology/approach An experiment was conducted to measure how exposure, type of sponsor, and fan identification impacts recognition, attitude, and purchase intention. Findings The results confirm sport-congruent brands are more likely to be falsely recognized as a sponsor than non-congruent sponsors in the absence of sponsorship participation. Sport consumers’ confirmation biases yield positive attitudes and purchase intentions for congruent brands even in the absence of immediate exposure. Lastly, exposure has no impact on recall or sponsor outcomes, suggesting the need for articulating the brand’s connection prior to the event to build stronger memory traces. Practical implications Congruent brands should carefully consider investment costs and expected return on investment, noting benefits of participation might be marginal as a result of confirmation biases. Potential sponsors should also understand cognitive benefits begin before exposure to the sponsorship occurs, and therefore need to articulate a connection to the event prior to exposure by consumers. Originality/value The findings suggest the importance of confirmation biases when attempting to reach sport consumers. Some brands may be able to increase recall and recognition even in the absence of exposure, thus helping decision makers when managing budgets.
