This chapter tests the appropriateness of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model in the context of end user consumption by means of an online survey with 475 respondents (24% response rate). The study shows which factors have the greatest impact on the adoption process of VoIP technology in the US market in addition to the interactions of the main variables in the model (Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Behavioral Intention to Adopt) and whether Trust can improve the predictive value of the UTAUT model to explain intention to adopt. Partial Least Squares (PLS) is used to evaluate the interactions of the main variables. The model includes four moderator variables (Gender, Age, Experience, and Voluntariness of Use). The results support most of the relationships identified in the original UTAUT model. More specifically, Performance Expectancy appears to have the strongest influence on the Intention of a consumer to adopt a new technology. The study provides information about whether the inclusion of Trust can generate good results for industry.

The payment system of a country plays a crucial role in its economy; however, despite the benefits of e-Payment and efforts by financial authorities, Nigeria still has a low e-Payment adoption rate. In this regard, there is an urgent need to investigate the factors that affect individuals’ intention to adopt e-Payment. Drawing on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model, this paper develops a theoretical model for e-Payment adoption in Nigeria. Additionally, a survey was conducted on 500 respondents with 213 complete responses received to test the model, and results show that perceived benefits, effort expectancy, social influence, trust, awareness, and demographic variables affected individuals’ intention to adopt e-Payments. Based on the findings, managerial and theoretical implications are deliberated.

University Customer Care Center (UC3) is a complaint service system for active academic civitas of the University of Jember. Implementation of UC3 is expected to optimize complaints complaint related to performance evaluation at the University of Jember. One of the keys to the successful implementation of information technology, The purpose of the study is to know the factors that influence the acceptance of the academic civitas in using the UC3 application. This research will use the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) method by utilizing the Performance Expectancy (PE) variable, Effort Expectancy (EE), Social Influence (SI), and Facilitating Condition (FC) to see how it affects the intensity of application usage UC3 And the influence of moderator variables (Age and Experience) to the relationships of those variables. Based on the results of data analysis PLS-SEM known that the PE, EE, and SI variables have a positive and significant effect on the Behavioral Intention (BI) variables as well as the FC and BI variables significantly positive and significant to the Use Behavior (UB) variables. Age influences inter-variable relationships for ages 26-35 years, 36-45 years, and >45 years, while Experience influences the relationship between variables for usage intensity ≥3 times. Based on the results of the five hypotheses received can be interpreted that the UC3 application was accepted by the academic and the acceptance is still not fully.

Purpose The concept of donation crowdfunding has been drawing enormous attention as it connects donors worldwide in a shorter time at a relatively lower cost. This paper aims to integrate two unified theories, namely, behavioral finance and unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model, to investigate on the motivators and deterrents that influence prospective donors to adopt and use donation crowdfunding. The study also substantiates the significance of donors’ behavioral biases through the moderating effect in the crowdfunding adoption process. Design/methodology/approach The study used survey method for data collection and the data set was obtained from the sample of respondents belonging to India and Bangladesh. The proposed structural equation modeling is tested using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0. Findings The study reveals that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions and trust significantly enhance the intention to adopt donation crowdfunding. Also, biases including overconfidence bias, herding bias and regret aversion bias are found to have significant moderating effects on the relationship between the behavioral intention to adopt donation crowdfunding and use behavior. Practical implications By investigating motivators and deterrents of the adoption of donation crowdfunding, the study renders lucrative insights for the donation crowdfunders in devising a donation fundraising campaign that motivates the prospective donors to provide financial contribution. Originality/value The study establishes its novelty in explaining the adoption behavior of donation crowdfunding with behavioral bias moderators as a theoretical paradigm. Furthermore, the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model is extended by introducing, the variable “trust,” while studying the adoption behavior of donation crowdfunding.

Social media is becoming a major development in electronic commerce among a wide range of sectors, for example, education, government, health care, and business. In Saudi Arabia, a major movement toward social media has taken place, especially among small business entrepreneurs, due to its low cost and the powerful role it can play in globalization. The goal of this paper is to add to the theoretical knowledge base regarding the adoption of social media among Saudi small businesses, by applying the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model to examine the influences of Saudi small businesses’ social media adoption. An empirical study was carried out using online survey research among 73 Saudi business entrepreneurs. The major findings of the paper are that Saudi small business entrepreneurs tend to use social media for the major constructs of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions. However, although the moderator of gender proved to be effective on the construct of effort expectancy, the effects of the moderators of age, gender, and experience on the other major constructs were not salient. It is believed that the findings will be useful for understanding adoption phenomena better, to help business entrepreneurs to make superior decisions based on them.

Smartphone is a wireless having progressed working framework which can be performed like a typical PC. The motivation behind examination is to inspect the behavior factors that impact the administration students to acknowledge Smartphone for learning in partnered colleges of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) in Pune. In this examination, we inspect the determinates of UTAUT model, for example, Performance Expectancy (PE), Effort Expectancy(EE), Social Influence (SI) and Facilitating Condition (FC) concerning use of Smartphone by the students of Management of (SPPU). The examination is done utilizing polls disseminated to 770 students. The estimating instrument comprised of 15 things. Thing react depended on a 5-point Likert-type scale. Integration of Edmodo, a social network educational platform allows educators-students to communicate, being in real-time discussion and collaborate in a significant approach. Edmodo yet, is still not dominant in Malaysia educational practices. The purpose of this research is to determine the students’ interaction behavior in learning by addition of Edmodo as subsidiary tool in Biology using Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) as theoretical framework. Sample of study consists of 74 undergraduate students who were registered in Biology code. Self-access learning module was given to the samples for 2 consecutive weeks during early semester followed by the questionnaire at the end of semester. Data has been collected using a 5 point Likert scale with the element of main construct in UTAUT. Pearson correlation and linear regression were performed to analyze the data. It was found that performance expectancy and effort expectancy exhibited positive significant effect on interaction behavior towards Edmodo, while social influence and facilitating conditions had no significant effect.    .

Abstract Background Studies that examine the adoption of clinical decision support (CDS) by healthcare providers have generally lacked a theoretical underpinning. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model may provide such a theory-based explanation; however, it is unknown if the model can be applied to the CDS literature. Objective Our overall goal was to develop a taxonomy based on UTAUT constructs that could reliably characterize CDS interventions. Methods We used a two-step process: (1) identified randomized controlled trials meeting comparative effectiveness criteria, e.g., evaluating the impact of CDS interventions with and without specific features or implementation strategies; (2) iteratively developed and validated a taxonomy for characterizing differential CDS features or implementation strategies using three raters. Results Twenty-five studies with 48 comparison arms were identified. We applied three constructs from the UTAUT model and added motivational control to characterize CDS interventions. Inter-rater reliability was as follows for model constructs: performance expectancy (κ = 0.79), effort expectancy (κ = 0.85), social influence (κ = 0.71), and motivational control (κ = 0.87). Conclusion We found that constructs from the UTAUT model and motivational control can reliably characterize features and associated implementation strategies. Our next step is to examine the quantitative relationships between constructs and CDS adoption.
