This study deals with the problem of outsourcing management, presenting a structure to support decision-making on effective information-technology outsourcing and highlighting the advantages and disadvantages that must be addressed. Since the study involves multiple variables, partially defined and conflicting objectives, and the will of decision-makers to broaden their understanding of the impact of decisions, the study used the multicriteria decision aid constructivist method to lead data collection and analysis. The chief results presented are: (i) a structured appraisal arranged by 8 strategic objectives and 107 performance indicators; (ii) the strengths and weaknesses of the status quo; and (iii) a process diagram for generating improvements. To ensure presentation of scientific and practical recognition in accordance with the constructivist path, the epistemological view adopted meets the scientific and practical requirements to ensure validity, legitimacy, and effectiveness of a model to support a decision-making process in a practical environment.

Background: Midwifery is the backbone of women and child healthcare. The shortage of staff in maternity units is a crisis faced by many countries worldwide, including South Africa.Objectives: This study aims to explore the perceptions of midwives on the shortage and retention of staff at a public institution.Method: The study was conducted at one of the tertiary hospitals in Tshwane District, Gauteng Province. A total of 11 midwives were interviewed through face-to-face and focus group interviews. An explorative, descriptive generic qualitative design method was followed, and a non-probability, purposive sampling technique was used. Thematic coding analysis was followed for analysing data.Results: The impact of shortage of midwives was reported to be directly related to poor provision of quality care as a result of increased workload, leading to low morale and burnout. The compromised autonomy of midwives in the high obstetrics dependency units devalues the status of midwives.Conclusion: Midwives are passionate about their job, despite the hurdles related to their day-to-day work environment. They are demoralised by chronic shortage of staff and feel overworked. Staff involvement in decision-making processes is a motivational factor for midwives to stay in the profession. The midwives need to be in the centre of the decision-making processes related to their profession. The revision of the scope of practice and classification of midwifery profession away from general nursing complex by the South African Nursing Council (SANC) could place midwifery in its rightful status.

Before the decision makers set much higher requirements in the decision-making than ever before due to the environment of decision-makers subject to change under the influence of progress and development of new technologies, networking individual or organization inside and the outside environment, and modern means of communication enabling continuous inflow, flow and sharing of data and information. In these modern conditions the process of collecting, analyzing, selecting data and information to make informed decisions in the context of possible restrictions and the available options, and ultimately making decisions as the basis for future business or behavior, is not simplified. The use of new technologies in the decision-making process provided numerous opportunities to facilitate decisions selection. However, the decision maker should still be able to differentiate which knowledge should be used to serve in decision making, and which models, methods, tools, systems, and procedures to be used in certain situations, with the purpose of successful decision selection. In this paper, we will examine the decision making process during the business process of the companies in Kosovo.

Purpose Decision-making and problem-solving are ongoing progressions of evaluating situations or problems, considering substitutes, making choices and following them up with the necessary actions. The relationship between managers’ decision-making and information technology (IT) has long been of interest to researchers. This study aims to examine the changes in novel technologies in facilitating managers’ decisions that influence the quality and timeliness of information and decision-making. Design/methodology/approach The present paper is a descriptive-correlative study in terms of the data collection method and is applicable in terms of purpose. In addition, the library-field method was used to collect information. Because of the target and subject of the research of the statistical population, this research contains all managers of a management organization that are 100 people. The present study is used in the structural equation modeling method to examine causal models and evaluate the reliability and validity of the measurement model. The presented model and the gathered information from the questionnaires were analyzed through SmartPLS software. Findings The results indicate that the IT infrastructure, expert systems, marketing information systems (ISs) and organizational variables significantly influence the ease of managers’ decision-making and considering these dimensions is a step in the success of managers’ decisions. Research limitations/implications This study used a questionnaire to collect information, which may result in some people refusing to provide a real answer and giving an unrealistic answer. This study is also cross-sectional, and therefore, makes it difficult to conclude about causality. In addition, access to statistics and information is one of the significant pillars of research. Practical implications The paper presents useful advice for improving decision-making. In addition, the topic is relevant to the ease of managers’ decisions. A better understanding of the impact of IT infrastructure, expert systems, marketing ISs and organizational variables could significantly enhance managers’ success. Originality/value The ideas and topics discussed are equally applicable to libraries and can provide new insights into the impact of IT infrastructures, expert systems, marketing ISs and organizational variables on the ease of decision makers as a source of competition.

Abstract:Many have suggested that information technology in its various forms will continue to have an effect on all aspects of medicine, including medical education. If so, the introduction of information technology into medicine brings with it critical educational policy questions. This paper reports on the findings of an inquiry into the impact of information technology on medical education. It reviews the extent to which Canadian and American medical colleges have adopted the 1985 recommendations of the American Association of Medical Colleges. In particular, it looks at the recommendations that “medical informatics should become an integral part of the medical curriculum” and that “the teaching of medical informatics should include opportunities for specific instruction in its fundamentals as well as adequate examples of its application throughout the medical curriculum".

This study is aimed to investigate the impact of senior management support, employees’ involvement and open corporate culture on the motivation of employees in the education sector of Pakistan. To collect the primary data, a self-administrated questionnaire is used while for secondary data collection research journals and articles are used. The sample size of this study consists of two hundred employees (hundred from public and hundred from private institutes). SPSS is used for measuring the association between variables and to see the impact of senior management support, open corporate culture, and involvement of employees on the motivation of employees. Correlation analysis and regression analysis are used to test the hypothesis of the research model. The motivation of the employees mainly depends upon senior management support and employees' involvement in decision making. Findings of the results support hypothesis 1, 2 & 3 while disproving hypothesis 4. Senior management support and employees’ involvement in decision making have a significant and positive impact on the motivation of employees. And the open corporate culture has no meaningful impact on employees’ motivation.

The key to competitiveness in most industries has moved beyond the traditionally confined single organization. In today’s global competitive business environment, competitiveness is heavily influenced by the ability of the multiple organizations in a supply chain to synchronize and integrate their business activities and processes. Supply chain integration, (SCI) which links the activities, functions, processes, and systems of a firm with its customers and suppliers, can reduce uncertainty, enhance responsiveness, reduce costs, and improve customer service. Empirical studies have explored SCI and reported that information technology (IT) is a key ingredient for the success of the integrated supply chain. While the research on SCI has been reported in OM literature, empirical studies that investigate the impact of different levels of IT utilization (ITU) – strategic, operational, and infrastructural - on SCI are not available. This research also explores the impact of top management support (TMS) on the relationship between ITU and SCI. Based on data collected from 220 manufacturing firms, this study indicates that ITU will have a positive impact on the success of an integrated supply chain when top management is personally involved in the technology implementation process.

This paper posits that “innovation as a competence” depends on individuals and consists of appraisable competencies such as: visioning, ability to generate ideas, internal and external networking, ownership to the organization, stretch mindset, focus on tasks and decision making. Further, these competencies are associated with gender, age and reading scores of an individual and have interaction effect on each other. An empirical model to analyze the impact of the determinants on innovation as a competence and their interactions is constructed and the analysis suggests significant differentiating determinants and fair degree of interaction amongst some of them. The empirical study has been carried out in a midsize Indian information technology company. The findings may facilitate human resource development in information technology organizations, where innovations are considered to be the hallmark for long term growth and sustenance.

The negative impact of the economic sanctions is not limited to the sphere of substantive law; it also extends to issues related to dispute resolution. Trying to achieve a fair resolution of disputes sanctioned persons may face many obstacles literally at every stage of the proceedings, starting with problems related to payment of arbitration fees, searching for counsels and arbitrators who are often reluctant to taking corresponding sanctions risks, and ending with the stage of enforcement of a judgment or an arbitral award. Under these conditions, the conduct of court or arbitration proceedings, if theoretically possible, in practice will be associated with substantial organizational difficulties, delays in consideration of a case and significant additional costs. In this regard the authors, based on the foreign and Russian experience, analyze advantages and disadvantages of various options for resolving the disputes involving sanctioned persons, including maintaining the former procedure for resolving disputes, transferring disputes to a neutral or domestic jurisdictions, as well as the latest legislative amendments, namely provisions of the Russian Arbitrazh Procedure Code expanding the exclusive jurisdiction of Russian arbitrazh (commercial) courts which have entered into force in June 2020. Maintaining the status quo between parties to a dispute provides a high degree of legal certainty but does not take into account the potentially serious breach of sanctioned persons’ rights. While the transfer of dispute resolution to the domestic jurisdiction allows the latter to ensure the protection of their rights, but, in turn, carries the risks of violating the existing balance in relations between the parties, refusal to recognize and enforce a future judgement in foreign jurisdictions and etc. Given the impossibility to foresee in advance the extension of restrictive measures to parties of a contract and character of such measures, perhaps the optimal solution could be the so-called cascade arbitration clauses, providing for variability of actions in certain cases, in particular: 1) choice of alternative forum; 2) establishing additional requirements for the neutrality of arbitrators; 3) waiver of the parties to submit disputes to jurisdictions that cannot provide equal and impartial resolution of the dispute in new circumstances. In addition, the parties are strongly encouraged to carefully consider the choice of law provisions, including choice of law applicable to the arbitration agreement.

The concept of Industry 4.0 has considerably altered the way organisations operate and has impacted every aspect of life. Furthermore, the fast-growing trend of information technology (IT) transformation in organisations and huge IT investment by Malaysian government have triggered the significance of IT risk and its related controls. Besides, technology-enabled auditing and IT-oriented audit procedures have become crucial when performing audit tasks in an electronic environment. Although many initiatives are being implemented to improve technology usage, audit technology use among auditors is still low and auditors are not attaining sufficient progress in the use of technology. This implies the current strategies and policies may not effectively support technology implementation. In the same vein, the under-utilisation of technologies was reported due to inadequate governance. Thus, this study intends to investigate the impact of IT governance on audit technology performance. IT governance is a mechanism to stimulate anticipated behavior in the use of technology among the employees of an organisation. Surveys using closed-ended questionnaires were distributed to approximately 309 Malaysia public sector auditors. The results show that IT governance mechanisms such as IT strategy and management support significantly influence the audit technology performance. IT governance does play a significant role in assuring the successful utilisation of audit technology.
