In this study, the authors extended the perceived risk-value model to include customer involvement to conceptualize an adoption intention model in the context of internet-only bank services (IOBSs). Hypotheses were tested using survey data collected in China. A total of 252 valid questionnaires were returned. Structural equation modeling was used to test two models, an antecedent model, and moderating model, constructed by assuming that customer involvement affects the perceived risk-value model in different ways. The findings verified that the perceived value could explain customers' intention to adopt IOBSs, whereas the influences of perceived risk were discovered to be nonsignificant, reducing the fitness of the perceived risk-value model. However, the opposite result was obtained when customer involvement was considered to exert a moderating effect rather than an antecedent effect. The implications of this research for IOBS service operators are discussed, and suggestions for future research are provided.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to develop a theoretical model for consumer behavioral intention by integrating the technology acceptance model (TAM) and the theory of perceived risk, which is tested on the intended use of credit cards in Vietnam. Design/methodology/approach The data were collected from 485 bank customers through a nationwide online survey. An exploratory and confirmatory factor analyzes were performed to validate the factor structure of the measurement items while structural equation modeling was used to validate the proposed model and testing the hypotheses. Findings The results of structural equation modeling reveal that perceived risk, perceived usefulness, social influence and perceived ease of use were significant determinants of consumer intention to use a credit card. Of them, only perceived risk discouraged the intended use of a credit card, which was synthesized from psychological, financial, performance, privacy, time, social and security risk. Research limitations/implications This study measured the first-order risk dimensions based on the payment function of the credit card only; these measurements missed potential losses relevant to credit function of credit cards. Practical implications This study can be beneficial to banks enacting policies to attract more consumers and to help decide how to allocate resources to retain and expand their customer base. Originality/value The study adds value to the literature on consumer behavior by confirming the impact of second-order perceived risk on the intended use of credit cards, which most previous studies have not demonstrated. The research also provides an empirical evidence to the academic research platform on e-banking services in Vietnam, especially related to the credit card industry.

Previous studies of mobile payment (m-payment) services have primarily focused on a single group of adopters. This study identifies the factors that influence an individual’s intention to use m-payment services and compares groups of current users (adopters) with potential users (non-adopters). A research model that reflects the behavioral intention to use m-payment services is developed and empirically tested using structural equation modeling on a data set consisting of 529 potential users and 256 current users of m-payment services in Thailand. The results show that the factors that influence current users’ intentions to use m-payment services are compatibility, subjective norms, perceived trust, and perceived cost. Subjective norms, compatibility, ease of use, and perceived risk influenced potential users’ intentions to use m-payment. Subjective norms and perceived risk had a stronger influence on potential users, while perceived cost had a stronger influence on current users, in terms of their intentions to use m-payment services. Discussions, limitations, and recommendations for future research are addressed.

Several decades of research show a strong relationship between past victimization and perceived risk of future victimization. Yet, few studies have explored the potential connection to individuals’ support for criminal justice policies. The purpose of this study is to better understand the relationships between past victimization, perception of risk for future victimization, and support for several criminal justice policies (e.g., stand your ground, open carry, three strikes, and the death penalty). Through structural equation modeling, the researchers examined relationships between these latent variables. Having both a history of victimization and a belief in the risk of future victimization increased one’s support for punitive and self-protective policies. Implications for future research and potential policies and services for victims/survivors are discussed.

The present study examined conceptual issues surrounding celebrity worship in a Malay-speaking population. In total, 512 Malay and 269 Chinese participants from Malaysia indicated who their favorite celebrity was and completed the Celebrity Attitude Scale (CAS) as well as a range of demographic items. Results showed that the majority of Malay and Chinese participants selected pop stars and movie stars as their favourite celebrities, mirroring findings in Western settings. In addition, exploratory factor analysis revealed a three-factor solution of the CAS that was consistent with previous studies conducted in the West. Structural equation modeling further revealed that participant’s age was negatively associated with celebrity worship and that self-rated attractiveness was positively associated with celebrity worship. Overall, the present results suggest that celebrity worship in Malaysia may be driven by market and media forces, and future research may well be guided by use of the CAS.

Snapchat, and Instagram are two social networks which recently gain their users after adopting such a feature called "Story" which allows a certain post to be disappeared after a certain time. This research takes up this technology trends analyzing the factors that probably affect the behavioral intention to use Snapchat and Instagram stories among generation Z. Factors are analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling, with basis model and variables from Technology Acceptance Model. Data collection was targeted to finished within 1 week using online questionnaire with respondent from Jakarta and Tangerang for 100 respondent that are using both Snapchat stories and Instagram Stories. There are two tools researcher usually use to analyze Structural Equation Modeling: SPSS AMOS and LISREL. In this research, researchers choose AMOS. From six hypothesis proposed for Snapchat analysis, four hypothesis is accepted, while the other two are rejected. Meanwhile, on Instagram Stories analysis, five hypothesis is accepted and one hypothesis is rejected. This study finds out the Social Presence is an exogenous variable which has a major role in affecting other variables. While Perceived Enjoyment influenced the behavioral intention to use Snapchat and Instagram Stories the most. The application of multivariate techniques is mainly to expand the researchers explanatory ability and statistical efficiency. The first generation analytical techniques share a common limitation i.e. each technique can examine only a single relationship at a time. Structural Equation Modeling, an extension of several multivariate techniques is the technique popularly used today can examine a series of dependence relationships simultaneously. The purpose of this study is to provide a short review on Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) being used in social sciences research. A comprehensive literature review of article appearing in top journals is conducted in order to identify how often SEM theory is used. Also the key SEM steps have been provided offering potential researchers with a theoretical supported systematic approach that simplify the multiple options with performing SEM.

This research aims to identify the role of involvement as a moderating variable in the model of customer loyality. The population in this study is the Xiaomi smartphone users in Yogyakarta. Data is collected through survey method that is guided by questionnaire. The data samples are 200 respondents to eligible the data analysis by structural equation modeling. The results indicate that the involvement moderates the effect of perceived quality, perceived price and after-sales service towards customer satisfaction.. Besides, the result is the involvement moderates the effect of customer satisfaction on customer loyalty. The results are used to develop strategies to effectively increase customer loyalty by designing a stimulus to increase customer loyalty considering the level of customer involvement.
