PayPal is an international payment gateway allowing businesses and individuals to transfer funds in a secure manner over the Internet. Using PayPal to accept payments has several advantages for online merchants. It is a recognized brand when it comes to Business to Consumer (B2C) transactions, creating a business account with PayPal is easier and faster, and finally, PayPal lends its name to the transaction, so customers may feel more comfortable entering into a transaction with a previously unknown merchant. Besides the mentioned advantages, PayPal’s transaction dispute system requires a tracking number from a shipped package to respond to a customer dispute. If the product is purely electronic (a download or access to a site, for example), one’s response to disputes will be quite limited. The solution for the problem mentioned above is PayPal API. The PayPal API resolves Pay Pal drawback through maintaining card and bank account payment schedules without the liability of warehousing payment data also processing one-time and recurring payments. For the evaluation of Pay Pal API, the authors develop an Event Registration Management System (ERMS). ERMS serves as a platform for users to make registrations for events such as conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Due to the extensive competition in today’s markets and the rapid development of new products and services, many companies started to invest on implementing supply chain management system. The rapid development of the internet had helped companies to establish their electronic supply chain system with suppliers in order to enhance the business functions. This paper investigates how e-supply chain management system enhances the business integrity at SMEs. To achieve this, a conceptual model was introduced and tested via a case study. Findings showed that implementing e-SCM helps SMEs to increase business integrity which leads to enhancing the efficiency and flexibility of the procurement process.

Television programs are increasingly paired with interactive media platforms in attempts to reach fragmented audiences though a medium where millions are now seeking entertainment—the Internet. Programs' online presences are cultivated and promoted by paid staffers and unpaid fan laborers. Producers monetize fan activity by guiding its form on their sites. Utilizing the concepts of sticky and spreadable media, an analysis of the Comedy Central show Tosh.0 Web site demonstrates how producers can promote particular types of interactivity through the content and architecture of a multimodal Web site. By designing a site that centralizes the use of popular social media, the producers of Tosh.0 concentrate fans and benefit from their creative labor. Furthermore, this study serves as a test for the scope and usefulness of the concepts of sticky and spreadable media in revealing strategic Web site design that encourages specific types of user participation.

Past studies on print and TV satire have revealed that satire can be seen as a site of resistance to power. In light of this, interesting questions can be raised regarding Internet satire: what does the Internet contribute to the resistance and what kind of power relation is played out on this site? Using an example from China, this paper reveals that like its print and TV counterparts, Internet satire reflects a widespread feeling of powerlessness, rather than offering the general public any political power. However, the Internet helps to push the symbolic power of satire to a higher level. This is because it makes satire a tool for the grassroots which facilitates the creation and spread of satirical ideas, and also helps to release and stimulate the enormous reserve of public wit and wisdom. As a result, satire on the Internet has the potential to generate a chain of related satirical work, which can create a satire movement and subject power to sustained shame and ridicule.

A major growth area in electronic commerce (EC) is organisations that directly interact with their customers (Business to Consumer EC). The supermarket sector is at the forefront of this development. However, it has been widely reported that e-tailing for grocery shopping, e.g., Webvan, particularly in the U.S., has not been successful. Little empirical evidence is documented to reveal whether customers’ shopping patterns have significantly changed toward Internet shopping. By using a case study approach and a questionnaire survey, this study reports the Internet shopping models adopted by the major U.K. supermarkets, and examines consumer shopping behaviour and their attitudes toward the Internet for grocery shopping.

Online payment system have recently emerged as one of the available payment methods in purchase of goods and services over the Internet. However the acceptance of this system by users is not fully achieved because of concern about the system security and how its manages the privacy of user information. One of the most challenging issues associated with online payment system is securing the communication between the client and payment gateway. PKI validation and encryption scheme is designed to handle problem of sending transaction as plaintext between clients and UTM online payment system and to authorize the clients that sent the transaction to the payment gateway. The scheme are proposed to increase the level of security in UTM online payment system. To test the performance of PKI validation and encryption scheme, several simulation are conducted together with the comparison with other algorithm.

The web has the potential to offer an environment that can support standardized medical education to students dispersed in time or place and, in the process, respond to reduced availability of patients for practice. This exploratory article describes how we evaluated critical thinking in an online collaborative Problem-based Learning (PBL) tutorial built on a platform integrating a well-known course management system and a voice-over the Internet communications tool. We discuss the process and results of evaluating the tutorials by adapting and applying an earlier framework used to measure the level of critical thinking taking place in collaborative online PBL tutorials. Our results indicate that this framework could be used as a method to compare levels of critical thinking between tutorial groups as well as tutorial variables such as case study formats and the types of technology used to support the sessions.

A landscape or site, which has been inhabited for long, consists of layers of history. This history is sometimes reserved in forms of small physical remnants, monuments, memorials, names or collective memories of destruction and reconstruction. In this sense, a site/landscape can be presumed as what Derrida refers to as a “palimpsest”. A palimpsest whose character is identified in a duality between the existing layers of meaning accumulated through time, and the act of erasing them to make room for the new to appear. In this study, the spatial collective memory of the Chahar Bagh site which is located in the historical centre of Shiraz will be investigated as a contextualized palimpsest, with various projects adjacent one another; each conceptualized and constructed within various historical settings; while the site as a heritage is still an active part of the city’s cultural life. Through analysing the different layers of meaning corresponding to these adjacent projects, a number of principals for reading the complexities of similar historical sites can be driven.
