With the increasing demand of building metro construction, couple with its complexity, there is a great need on an integrated system to provide all the stakeholders a convenience way to exchange information effectively and efficiently. An integrated system based on 6D is proposed by this article. The core technology of the system including BIM theory and methods of associating 3D graphics models with progress, investment and safety information are discussed. By using the integrated system, it helps the project decision makers in planning, coordination and control of management to improve project management efficiency. Also, a case study is provided which is used in Wuhan metro construction and achieves good results.

Research service cores at academic health centers are important in driving translational advancements. Specifically, biostatistics and research design units provide services and training in data analytics, biostatistics, and study design. However, the increasing demand and complexity of assigning appropriate personnel to time-sensitive projects strains existing resources, potentially decreasing productivity and increasing costs. Improving processes for project initiation, assigning appropriate personnel, and tracking time-sensitive projects can eliminate bottlenecks and utilize resources more efficiently. In this case study, we describe our application of lean six sigma principles to our biostatistics unit to establish a systematic continual process improvement cycle for intake, allocation, and tracking of research design and data analysis projects. The define, measure, analyze, improve, and control methodology was used to guide the process improvement. Our goal was to assess and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations by objectively measuring outcomes, automating processes, and reducing bottlenecks. As a result, we developed a web-based dashboard application to capture, track, categorize, streamline, and automate project flow. Our workflow system resulted in improved transparency, efficiency, and workload allocation. Using the dashboard application, we reduced the average study intake time from 18 to 6 days, a 66.7% reduction over 12 months (January to December 2015).

Corporate Governance is a term that is related to the direction and control of an organization, institution, or function, to fit the goals and expectations of decision makers. This research aims to conduct an analysis of corporate governance using D. Wayne Taylor’s theory by conducting a case study at the Dental and Oral Hospital by Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Indonesia (RSKGM FKG UI). The design of this research is qulitative analysis with methods of collection data through document review and in-depth interview. The results of the research are reflected in nine principles that are recognized by six incompatible principles, two principles that are appropriate, and one principle that cannot be seen in accordance with the requirements in RSKGM FKG UI that have not supported yet. Two principles that are appropriate are: the principle of the Board-CEO Relationship and the principle of the Ownership Needs.

TRACE MODE 6.0. The article deals with the production of steam as an object of automation, presents materials on the main approaches to the automation of steam production, discusses the principles of formation of the control scheme, as well as the structure of the control system. The problems arising in the transmission of produced steam over a distance are considered. Parameters for control, regulation, signalling and interlocking for optimum boiler control are described. The applied devices and means of automation, software, including the integrated system of design and control of TRACE MODE are analyzed. The authors describe the case study of automation of a steam generator of the Grozny concrete products plant in the form developed by Windows in TRACE MODE 6.0.

E-services can be used to wrap an organization's information system and to provide a standard interface that enables cooperation with other information systems. As a consequence, e-services should not only support operating activities, but also embed mechanisms for inter-organizational coordination and control over operating activities. Inter-organizational coordination and control are based on contractual agreements that coordinate processes across cooperating companies and establish mechanisms to control the fulfillment of production goals. The objective of this paper is to describe a methodological approach for the design of e-services that supports the specification of inter-organizational coordination and control requirements. The paper explains how the methodology is structured in three phases, from requirements specification to conceptual design and implementation. The first phase of the methodology supports the specification of cooperation requirements, which constitute the static description of coordination and control requirements. In the second methodological phase, this static description is completed with a dynamic description of the actions to be taken upon exceptions, which occur when cooperating partners do not comply with cooperation goals. The static and dynamic description of coordination and control represent a conceptual specification of a business transaction. In the final methodological phase, this conceptual specification is implemented based on the WSDL and BPEL4WS languages for e-service design. The methodology is tested on the case study of the Italian production district of Matera.

Through the experience gained by Algeria and the Maghreb Commission for Desert Locust control during the past recession and the present plague (1987, 1989), especially in the use of operational meteorological products of the World Weather Watch of the World Meteorological Organization for improved forecasts of swarm movement, an integrated acridometeorological watch system is suggested for the whole Saharan breeding area to avoid any surprise in the future. This permanent monitoring system should be built and operated jointly by the meteorological and the plant protection services at the national level. The regional and international coordination by the Food and Agriculture Organization of this Desert Locust monitoring could make use of the now experienced and integrated system of the World Weather Watch. The system proposed is not only useful for Desert Locust survey and control, but for the realistic use of the Saharan environment for a better life for nomads and the newly settled peasants.

PurposeThe study develops a structure for procurement digitalisation by identifying its context drivers, technology interventions and performance-inducing mechanisms and exploring the linkages between these variables.Design/methodology/approachThe study draws on rich interview and workshop data on 48 digital intervention projects, as reflected by mental models of managers from 12 case organisations in manufacturing, retail and service sectors. Supported by an a priori structure, the study employs an abductive cross-case analysis approach.FindingsResults suggest several categories within the elements of context, intervention and mechanism to structure procurement digitalisation and the linkages between them. Seven propositions that reflect digitalisation strategy options in procurement are developed regarding the linkages. Internal complexity dominantly drives procurement digitalisation, motivating communication support and process structuring interventions, which in turn aim at procurement coordination and control as well as process improvement. External coercive pressure and external dynamism also drive interventions for information processing and decision aiding, which appear to be linked with supply market knowledge, strategic alignment and supplier capability assessment. Therefore, an internal–external dichotomy is observed as the main thrust of procurement digitalisation.Practical implicationsThe study supports decision makers in developing digitalisation strategy options for different procurement contexts. The results also raise awareness of a possible bias in existing strategies for procurement digitalisation.Originality/valueA novel forward-looking approach is employed to enable the design and construction of systems that do not yet exist by focusing on the mental models of managers in a systematic way.
