This chapter challenges traditional views on Iron Age dress. Recent research has greatly enhanced our understanding of how textiles were manufactured in Iron Age Europe. The variety of qualities, textures, techniques, raw materials, colours, and cuts give insights into the detailed knowledge of the craftspeople involved. Textiles used for dress, blankets, or furniture fittings were appreciated not only for their appearance, but also for the quality of the work. In everyday life, their optical qualities were used to express and signal gender, social roles and status, while the labour expended on textiles found in wealthy burials underlines both the status of the deceased and the extent of conspicuous consumption in funerary rituals—for instance, for wrapping grave furniture and goods. The chapter also looks at experimental data showing how labour-intensive textile production was, and the types of clothing and accessories found in different archaeological contexts or depicted in visual representations.

With the development of construction technology and construction equipment, now almost all industrial and civil buildings are changing to frame structure. As a result of the differences in floor height, span and the thickness of the cast-in-place floor slab, so the frame column and beam stress is different. When the stress exceeds a certain limit, then it will result in the problem of “strong beam weak column”, and this affects the quality of the buildings, thus how to solve the strong beam weak column caused by the cast-in-place floor slab becomes very meaningful.

This paper is introducing results of diagnostic survey of bridge no. 121-006 across Otava river near Zvikov [1], focusing on assessment of quality of concrete mix used for load-bearing structure of the bridge after more than 50 years of operation and assessment of reconstruction works (monolithic assembly of central joints of main fields) executed in 1994 [2]. Visual inspection of monolithic assembly joints, comparison of depth of concrete carbonation and thickness of top layer of reinforcement concrete and concrete compression strength are presented in this paper.

Particle packing technology is used to reduce the amount of cement in concrete by optimizing the concrete mix, resulting in more sustainable concrete. In this study, four different methods were used to determine the distribution of the mixture presented; packing density method, packing density method, IS code method, and packing density method. In the packing density method, the paste content that exceeds the voids will increase along with the increase in the quality of the concrete. In cases of packing density, the cement-water ratio decreases with the quality of the concrete. In the packing of too many trials, trials and tribulations should be carried out to achieve the ratio of water-cement and paste content for a certain grade of concrete. This correlation curve helps reduce the experiments involved in determining the ratio of semen and paste content for a given concrete quality. The water and cement contents for the packing density and the IS code method are almost the same for each particular concrete class. The workability of concrete achieved was more in the packing density method than the IS code method for the same concrete quality, because the water-cement ratio was slightly higher in the packing density method than the IS code method. The required fine aggregate particles are more in terms of packing density method compared to the IS code method. Therefore, more water and cement are required in terms of packing density. The correlation curve can be used to determine the ratio of water-cement and paste the content that exceeds the voids for a certain concrete quality

Monolithic concrete floors are frequently designed as plain concrete slabs. The purpose of the plain concrete floor is to transmit loading from its source to the subgrade with minimal distress. The magnitude of these stresses depends on factors such as the subgrade strength, solution of construction, the quality of construction, the magnitude and character of loads. Here is presented the joint spacing for various construction solutions of concrete floor. In practice, joint spacing should be corrected by evaluating rheological properties of concrete mix, type of aggregate, its volumetric concentration and impurity. The direct expenditures of main construction layers were investigated and used for optimization the technologies installation of monolithic concrete floors. The initial data for evaluating the multiple criteria were calculated by estimating the real and practical characteristics, which are represented in this paper. Multiple criteria complex proportional evaluation is used to find a rational decision installation of monolithic concrete floors.

The main material of concrete is a construction building material composed of water and mineral mixture and cement and chemical additives in the corresponding proportion and below the standard. In the process of making concrete material, slurry and cement are needed to mix, then cement slurry and sand are mixed into mortar according to the corresponding proportion, and aggregate is added to mortar to form concrete building material. In the process of concrete preparation, the most important construction link is mixing, which needs to be fully stirred to make the performance of concrete meet the construction needs. In the process of concrete construction technology development, both mix ratio and production technology have become more and more mature, but there are still some problems, which have an impact on the quality of concrete. Therefore, this paper discusses the quality control of concrete raw materials according to the construction process of road and bridge.

The rapid development of the construction industry has made great progress in civil engineering construction technology. As an important part of the construction of civil engineering construction, the advanced nature of its construction technology is directly related to the overall engineering construction level, and affects the construction of other projects in the later period. To this end, we must master the essentials of basic civil construction technology. At the same time, we also need to improve and innovate existing technologies based on market demand, learn the essence of advanced technologies and combine them with engineering practices, and innovate engineering quality management methods. Only in this way can the quality of civil engineering be ensured. In view of this, this article will discuss how to improve the quality of civil engineering through the innovation of ideas, systems and technologies on the basis of analyzing the status quo of the application of civil engineering technology in construction engineering.

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam which has a function of faith, social and economic functions. Muslims who can pay zakat are required to give at least 2.5 per cent of their wealth. The problem of poverty prevalent in disadvantaged regions because of the difficulty of access to information and communication led to a gap that is so high in wealth and resources. The instrument of zakat provides a paradigm in the achievement of equitable wealth distribution and healthy circulation. Zakat potentially offers a better life and improves the quality of human being. There is a human quality improvement not only in economic terms but also in spiritual terms such as improving religiousity. This study aims to examine the role of zakat to alleviate humanitarian issues in disadvantaged regions such as Sijunjung, one of zakat beneficiaries and impoverished areas in Indonesia. The researcher attempted a Cibest method to capture the impact of zakat beneficiaries before and after becoming a member of Zakat Community Development (ZCD) Program in material and spiritual value. The overall analysis shows that zakat has a positive impact on disadvantaged regions development and enhance the quality of life of the community. There is an improvement in the average of mustahik household incomes after becoming a member of ZCD Program. Cibest model demonstrates that material, spiritual, and absolute poverty index decreased by 10, 5, and 6 per cent. Meanwhile, the welfare index is increased by 21 per cent. These findings have significant implications for developing the quality of life in disadvantaged regions in Sijunjung. Therefore, zakat is one of the instruments to change the status of disadvantaged areas to be equivalent to other areas.
