A new apparatus which is the disc with the radiant fine stainless-steel filament is potential removal of dust apparatus by the analysis of dust removal. To evaluate its performance of dust removal, the experimental installation is built, the dust collection efficiency under dry and wet condition, the pressure drop, is measured in the experimental platform. It is also designed the wet dust precipitator and applied to the control of dust in mine tunnel. Results show that the disc is better dust collection efficiency under wet condition than under dry condition, the respirable dust collection efficiency is more than 80 percent averagely, and its pressure drop is also lower. Though these measures are initial, it is convincing that the disc can served as a part of precipitator by optimum design.

Characteristics of high temperature filter system were evaluated and the operation parameters were identified through a series of tests by the ceramic candle filter elements. At the first time of the tests, the trend of the pressure drop across the filter was increased sharply. But due to the growth of dust cake on the surface of filters it became stabilized to a certain level soon. The pressure drop was increased by the face velocity strongly. The permeability of the filter element decreased rapidly in the initial time but because the deposition and it also became stable as time goes on. Dust collection efficiency of the filter was higher than the designed value of 99.9%. Dust cleaning of the filter surface was effective under the back flushing pressure range of 1 to 5 bar. Finally, at the long-term vitrification test, no specific defect or failure were occurred to the ceramic candle filter. Based on the test results, the performance and durability of the ceramic candle filter was proved as sound.

HighlightsThe rice dust collection performance of bag filters was investigated. The pressure drop and rice dust collection efficiency were measured with various parameters.Correlation equations are suggested for the pressure drop across a clean filter medium and across the dust cake.Abstract. Because rice dust constitutes a form of air pollution, bag filters are widely used in rice processing facilities. Rice dust has various particle sizes, and the dust concentration in air is low with rice dust. Research on the rice dust collection performance of bag filters is necessary for effective dust collection in rice processing facilities. The objective of this study was to investigate the rice dust collection performance of bag filters. The pressure drop and rice dust collection efficiency were measured with various face velocities, dust concentrations, and fabric filter media. The dust collection efficiency decreased slightly with increases in the face velocity and in the maximum pressure drop in normal conditions. In addition, correlation equations of the pressure drop across a clean filter medium and across the dust cake are suggested to predict the pressure drop in overloaded conditions in rice processing facilities. The average error was 20.2%, and it decreased with increasing pressure drop. Using the correlation equations, bag filters can be managed to remove the deposited dust before the pressure drop significantly increases or reaches its maximum value. Keywords: Bag filter, Dust collection efficiency, Pressure drop, Rice dust.

The dust-collection system, as the core of a sweeper vehicle, directly inhales dust particles on the pavement. The influence of variable operational conditions on particle-separation performance was investigated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) Euler–Lagrange multiphase model. The particle-separation performance efficiency and retention time were used to evaluate the dust-collection efficiency. The uniform design (UD) and multiple regression analysis (MRA) methods were employed to predict and optimize the effects of reverse-blowing flow rate, pressure drop, and traveling speed on separation efficiency. The results indicated that the dust-collection performance initially increased and then decreased with increasing reverse-blowing flow rate. As the pressure drop increased, there was an increase in total dust-collection efficiency. However, the efficiency decreased with increasing traveling speed. The regression model showed that the proposed approach was able to predict the particle collection efficiency accurately. In addition, the optimum operational conditions were obtained, namely a reverse-blowing flow rate of 2100 m3/h, a traveling speed of 5 km/h, and a pressure drop of 2400 Pa. The maximum particle-separation efficiency was 99.10%, which showed good agreement with the experimental results.

NYU has an ongoing research program which is being funded by DOE to test three types of high-pressure, high-temperature filters. The main objectives of the testing program are: (1) to establish the performance capability of the filters under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions; and (2) to evaluate the dust collection efficiency. Shakedown tests for a duration of about 50 hours was completed during October 1986. Testing of the electrostatic precipitator (ESP) is in progress. The first test with ESP was performed during the middle of November 1986. The operating experience with respect to the test facility, and in particular with the particulate sampling systems, is reported in this paper. Additionally, some test results are also discussed.

The article discusses the features of using environmentalengineering systems of small-size devices with counter-swirling flows (CSF) to reduce dust emissions into the atmosphere. The reasons for the decrease of the dust collection efficiency by CSF systems are analyzed. The layout diagram of the dust collection system with CSF devices and the organization of suction from the dust collector hopper are given.

The dust collected in the polar plates can be washed out by a spraying system in the wet electrostatic precipitator. It is important to keep the spraying system having a high efficiency lest the dust returns to the gas again. The performance of the spraying system in the electrostatic precipitation and its influence on the dust collection efficiency are presented in the paper. The atomization characteristic of the spraying nozzle is measured by changing the water pressure and operating voltage. The results show that: Collection efficiency of the electrostatic precipitation is over 99.5 % when the water pressure is 0.4 MPa.When the spraying mists diameter is 100 μm, the collection efficiency is 92 % for the dust diameter under 10 μm. It will provide a basis for the design of spraying system in wet electrostatic precipitation by this analysis.

In a previous paper a new design was presented of a cyclone separator based pre-filter along with validation of a numerical model with experimental data. The validated model is used to evaluate certain designs with varying inlet air entry configurations. Furthermore, several cases as part of a detailed parametric study on the new pre-filter design are simulated in terms of geometrical parameters to optimize the performance with respect to overall pressure drop and dust collection efficiency. The results of the parametric study are used to derive a final optimized pre-filter configuration. In addition, based on the results of some of the simulations, a new concept of air filtration which could potentially replace the conventional air filter plus pre-filter configuration is introduced and assessed numerically. This design utilizes the high swirl velocities of air to separate particles as small as 4-5 μm with almost 100 per cent efficiency. More importantly, it offers much lower pressure drop than the total pre-filter plus main filter configuration.

As the main equipment of flue gas dedusting in coal fired boiler, electrostatic precipitator (ESP) can meet the requirements of emission standard for air pollutants from coal-fired power plants through improving the efficiency of ESP and combining with desulfurization system while not installing wet ESP (WESP). This paper introduces the modifications of ESP cathode structure to improve the efficiency of dust collection by reducing the secondary dust loss at cathode. The application of cathode dust collection provides a reference for the improvement of ESP dust collection efficiency.
