The main purpose of this study was to investigate the use of various chaotic pattern recognition methods for traffic flow prediction. Traffic flow is a variable, dynamic and complex system, which is non-linear and unpredictable. The emergence of traffic flow congestion in road traffic is estimated when the traffic load on a specific section of the road in a specific time period is close to exceeding the capacity of the road infrastructure. Under certain conditions, it can be seen in concentrating chaotic traffic flow patterns. The literature review of traffic flow theory and its connection with chaotic features implies that this kind of method has great theoretical and practical value. Researched methods of identifying chaos in traffic flow have shown certain restrictions in their techniques but have suggested guidelines for improving the identification of chaotic parameters in traffic flow. The proposed new method of forecasting congestion in traffic flow uses Wigner-Ville frequency distribution. This method enables the display of a chaotic attractor without the use of reconstruction phase space.

This paper aims to discuss unstable traffic flow and to identify if chaotic phenomena exist in a traffic flow dynamic system. Two discrete dynamic models are proposed, which are derived from the flow-density-speed fundamental diagram and Del Castillo and Benitez’s exponential curve model and maximum sensitivity curve model. Both the models have two parameters, which are the ratio of free flow and spacing average speed and the ratio of the absolute value of kinematic wave speed at jam density and free flow speed. Chaos is found in the two models when the two values increase separately. The Liapunov exponents were used to examine the characters of the chaotic behavior in the two models. These results are illustrated by numerical examples.

The article is research on the influence of urban lane occupied for the road traffic capacity. Under the condition that the density of urban traffic flow is big, and it‘s successional, we consider the quantity of vehicle is continuous. Through analyzing the dynamic changes of the road traffic capacity and its influencing factors after accidents, we can get reasonable suggestions of reducing the length of traffic jam. First we establish a flow-speed-density model to describe the dynamic changes of the road traffic capacity. Then we can compare the traffic flow to the electric current according to its continuity. So the upstream traffic flow and the traffic capacity of the accident cross section are equal to the charging current and the discharging current. And the vehicle queue is translated to the voltage of the charge-discharge capacitance. We can get the length of the vehicle queue by the formula of the capacitance voltage approximately. Finally the correction coefficient is introduced. In conclusion, the road traffic capacity is depended on the distance from the upstream intersection and the lane that the accident happened on and so on. Meanwhile, if we don’t solve the accident timely, the length will rise sharply. It will cause serious traffic jam. So we suggest relevant departments timely deal with the accident, evacuate the traffic, and prompt drivers to change lanes in advance.

Statistical mechanics points out as fluctuations have a relevant role for systems near critical points. We study the effect of traffic fluctuations and the transition to congested states for a stochastic dynamical model of traffic on a road network. The model simulates a finite population that moves from one road to another according to random transition probabilities. In such a way, we mimic the traffic fluctuations due to the granular feature of traffic and the dynamics at the crossing points. Then the amplitude of traffic flow fluctuations is proportional to the average flow as suggested by empirical observations. Assuming a parabolic shaped flow-density relation, there exists an unstable critical point for the road dynamics and the system can perform a phase transition to a congested state, where some roads reach their maximal capacity. We apply a statistical physics approach to study the onset congestion and we characterize analytically the relation between the fluctuations amplitude and the appearance of congested nodes. We verify the results by means of numerical simulations on a Manhattan-like road network. Moreover we point out the existence of oscillating regimes, where traffic oscillations back propagate on the road network, whose onset depend sensitively from the traffic fluctuations and that have a strong influence on the hysteresis cycles of the systems when the traffic load is modulated. The comparison between the numerical simulations and the empirical traffic data recorded by an inductive-loop traffic detector system (MTS system) on the county roads of the Emilia Romagna region in Italy is shortly discussed.

Klampis Jaya Road, Surabaya City, has a fairly heavy traffic flow, especially during working hours. This resulted in congestion on Klampis Jaya Road and not a few motorists who violated traffic regulations such as turning around Mleto Road. This study aimed to determine the current traffic flow performance and in 2024 at the intersection on Klampis Jaya Road, Surabaya City, predicted the traffic flow performance around the road and intersection on Klampis Jaya Road Surabaya City. The research method used was non-signalized intersection analysis using the Indonesian Road Capacity Manual. The calculation of the traffic performance of the four intersections in Klampis Jaya showed the Degree of Saturation (DS) and Service Level (TP) of each intersection. Traffic performance for the four intersections in 2021 was DS = 0.752 and TP = C (Enough), with the characteristics of stable traffic flow, was restricted movement. The traffic performance for the four intersections in 2024 was DS = 0.95 and TP = D (Less), with the characteristics of traffic flow stable movement being limited.

Pedestrians are people walking activities and is one of the elements of road users. Surabaya is a city which is the goal of society to travel and enjoy a wide range of diversity with the intent to purchase goods or just taste the food because there is one of the traditional market situated on the road Raden Wijaya or road Kesatriyan very crowded at night ie the market night kodam v Surabaya and in the present study was to determine the characteristics of pedestrians (flow, speed, density), determine the relationship between variables pedestrian movement and maximum value of variables and determine the capacity and service level pedestrian with analytical methods in use that method Greenshields. This research method used survey methods and analysis methods. Ie survey method, uses manual techniques of observation and data collection in the field, while the analysis method is by using simple linear regression method in accordance with the method used by Greenshields. The analysis showed that the variable max on the Raden Wijaya is as follows Dm = 0.992 pends / m2, Vm = 66.787 m / min, Qm = 66.253 pends / min / m while the variable max on the road Kesatriyan is as follows Dm = 3.041 pends / m2, Vm = 37.398 m / min, Qm = 113.727 pends / min / m. While the level of service including service level "A", the standard planning pedestrian facilities in urban areas in the level of service "A", this means that the pedestrian in the night market kodam v Surabaya still meet the standards of planning and is still able to accommodate the number of pedestrians there is. While the correlation value on the road Raden Wijaya was r = -0.922 and correlation on the road Kesatriyan is r = -0.488.

A novel multisensor system with incomplete data is presented for traffic state assessment. The system comprises probe vehicle detection sensors, fixed detection sensors, and traffic state assessment algorithm. First of all, the validity checking of the traffic flow data is taken as preprocessing of this method. And then a new method based on the history data information is proposed to fuse and recover the incomplete data. According to the characteristics of space complementary of data based on the probe vehicle detector and fixed detector, a fusion model of space matching is presented to estimate the mean travel speed of the road. Finally, the traffic flow data include flow, speed and, occupancy rate, which are detected between Beijing Deshengmen bridge and Drum Tower bridge, are fused to assess the traffic state of the road by using the fusion decision model of rough sets and cloud. The accuracy of experiment result can reach more than 98%, and the result is in accordance with the actual road traffic state. This system is effective to assess traffic state, and it is suitable for the urban intelligent transportation system.
