The microwave frequency conversion technology, also known as mixers, RF and microwave system is the transmitter and the receiver have the basic functions. Microwave photon system, instead of the traditional high-speed optoelectronic devices electronic device to overcome the conventional signal processing electronics in the electronic bottleneck. In this paper, respectively, modulators and optical devices based on nonlinear effects of microwave photon frequency conversion methods are summarized, research and verify the bandpass filter can achieve frequency conversion scheme.

Electronic devices such as medical instruments implanted in the human body and electronic control units installed in automobiles have a large impact on human life. The electronic circuits in these devices require highly reliable operation. Radiographic testing has recently been in strong demand as a nondestructive way to help ensure high reliability. Companies that use high-density micrometer-scale circuits or lithium-ion batteries require high speed and high magnification inspection of all parts. The authors have developed a new X-ray source supporting these requirements. The X-ray source has a sealed tube with a transmissive target on a diamond window that offers advantages over X-ray sources having a sealed tube with a reflective target. The X-ray source provides high-power-density X-ray with no anode degradation and a longer shelf life. In this paper, the authors will summarize X-ray source classification relevant to electronic device inspection and will detail X-ray source performance requirements and challenges. The paper will also elaborate on technologies employed in the X-ray source including tube design implementations for high-power-density X-ray, high resolution, and high magnification simultaneously; reduced system downtime for automated X-ray inspection; and reduced dosages utilizing quick X-ray on-and-off emission control for protection of sensitive electronic devices.

A theoretical method is derived for predicting the linearized response characteristics of constant deadrise high-speed planing boats in head and following waves. Comparisons of the theoretical predictions of the pitch and heave response amplitude operators and phase angles with existing experimental data show reasonably good agreement for a wide variety of conditions of interest. It appears that nonlinear effects are more severe at a speed to length ratio of 6 than of, say, 4 or less, principally because of the reduction of the damping ratio of the boat with increasing speed, and the consequent increase in motions in the vicinity of the resonant encounter frequency. However, it is concluded that the linear theory can provide a simple and fast means of determining the effect of various parameters such as trim angle, deadrise, loading, and speed on the damping, natural frequency, and linearized response in waves, and that this can furnish valuable insight into the actual boat dynamics, even though the accurate predictions of large motions and peak accelerations would require a nonlinear analysis.

We report a broadband microwave frequency converter based on a coherent Kerr optical micro-comb generated by an integrated micro-ring resonator. The coherent micro-comb displays features that are consistent with soliton crystal dynamics with an FSR of 48.9-GHz. We use this to demonstrate a high-performance millimeter-wave local oscillator at 48.9-GHz in the Q-band for microwave frequency conversion. We experimentally verify the microwave performance up to 40 GHz, achieving a ratio of −6.8 dB between output RF power and IF power and a spurious suppression ratio of > 43.5 dB. The experimental results show good agreement with theory and verify the effectiveness of microwave frequency converters based on coherent optical micro-combs, with the ability to achieve reduced size, complexity, and potential cost.

Two phase slug flow is the most common flow pattern for horizontal and near-horizontal pipelines. This study is designed to determine experimental velocities of elongated bubbles, lengths of liquid slugs and elongated bubbles, and slug frequencies for twenty flow rates combinations of a two phase air-water system that belong to a slug type pattern in horizontal pipes with a non invasive electronic device made of Photo-diodes (emitter) and photo-transistors (receiver) in a non visible length wave of 940 nanometers. The non intrusive electronic device is validated by simultaneously taking pictures with a high speed camera, (Kodak model Ektapro 4540 mx Imager, at shooting speed of 4500 frames per second, the picture resolution is 256 × 256 pixels), through a visualization cell filled with glycerin. This work is done with acrylic pipes of 0,03175 m inner diameter, to ensure complete flow development, the pictures are taken from a visualization cell located at a x/D = 249, the electronic device is located at x/D = 250. Air superficial velocity ranged between 0.156 and 0.468 m/s while water superficial velocity ranged between 0.159 and 1.264m/s. It is found that the non intrusive electronic device formed by photo diodes and photo transistors is an accurate technique that can be used in the determination of elongated bubble velocities, lengths and slug frequencies.
